In this thesis the filmatic space in the documentary films Threads and Bror are seen and analyzed trough the theory of the complex picture. The theory highlights the importance of the cinematographic room in film. The room is seen both from a physical as from an abstract perspective; time and man has important roles in the creation of the space. The main point of this thesis is to define the filmatic space in Threads and Bror, but trough this thesis, the reader will get a better understanding of what the filmatic space actually is, and why it is so important. The filmatic space in the documentary films Threads and Bror differ from each other in various ways. In Threads the physical room in the film is emphasized, while in Bror the abstract room and role of time are of bigger importane. Because of the differences between the films, the films works excellent for further analysis and discussion in the subject. The filmatic space is not only important for the cinematography, but also for the directing of the film and for the films scenography. By being able to control and understand the filmatic space, one can develop deeper levels of meaning both in cinematography as in directing.
