Tiivistelmä
The objective of this thesis was to evaluate the current state of fast fashion in the European Market and its affect on outside of the politico-economic union through fast fashion's production phases. Sustainability is what various industries strive for today, to ensure a better life in the future. The thesis focused on the relationship of the two and trying to find out, which measures could be used to improve the fast fashion business model and how different approaches fit the Finnish culture. The study focused on sustainable development, using it as a basis for measuring the business model's impact.
The study was conducted by analysing existing research and reports on sustainability, consumer behaviour, different production phases, focusing on three different types of material, the worker, and the economic situation of brands in the EU.
The results showed an unsustainable system, with no regard of the effect for future generations. This is the result of the demand cheap garments, exploitation of cheaper workforce and natural resources.
