The purpose of this thesis was to identify which factors influence hotel guests´ level of satisfaction during their stay at a hotel. The Park Alandia Hotel in Mariehamn, the Åland Islands, was chosen as the case study. The thesis deals with communication between people, which is of great importance when receiving customers. In addition, services and their quality are dealt with. The focus is also on customer satisfaction and the significance of service on a personal level. It is important to a receptionist to acknowledge the customer and receive each customer in such a way that they feel welcome. It is also important that the customers are given the opportunity to give their response, in order to improve the service. The study was carried out as a quantitative survey using a questionnaire. There were 154 replies of which some could not be used since they were incompletely filled in. The survey revealed that most guests have been satisfied with the service provided and the hotel has met with their expectations. Most customers think that service on a personal level is important.
