olevaa tutkimustietoa. Tutkimustietojen mukaan proprioseptisellä harjoittelulla pystytään
vaikuttamaan ehkäisevästi etenkin alaraajojen urheiluvammojen ilmaantuvuuteen. Valmiin
oppaan teoriaosuudet koostettiin tutkituista tiedoista. Oppaan harjoitteet luotiin teoreettisen
viitekehyksen tutkimuksien pohjalta ottaen huomioon lajinomaisen harjoittelun sekä yleisimmät urheiluvammat toimeksiantajan keskuudessa. Jatkotutkimusehdotuksena on kirjallisuuskatsaus aiheesta taitoluistelijoiden urheiluvammat. The most typical sports injuries are musculoskeletal injuries to the bones, joints, muscles,
tendons, and ligaments. These include, for example, bone fractures, contusions, sprains,
and twists. In 2017, 420,000 sports injuries occurred in Finland, of which 121,000 required
medical treatment. The most common injury area for figure skaters is the ankle joint, but
injuries to the lumbar spine and lower limbs are also likely. Stress fractures occur in about
15–20% of skaters during their careers. The most common stress fracture areas in figure
skaters are the tibia, foot, and toes.
When planning the prevention of sports injuries, one must be aware of sport-specific injuries and their mechanisms of origin. Regular training as well as a versatile training program
that includes injury prevention exercises play a major role in the prevention of sports injuries.
The purpose of the thesis was to provide the client with a guide on the prevention of sports
injuries in young competitive skaters. The guide focuses on exercises to prevent back and
lower limb injuries and the role of sleep and nutrition as part of the prevention of sports injuries. The aim was to provide information about the sports injuries of competitive figure skaters and prevention to coaches as well as young athletes and their parents.
Regarding the prevention of sports injuries, we limited the theoretical framework of the thesis to the importance of proprioceptive training and sleep and nutrition in the prevention of
sports injuries. The theoretical framework of the thesis contains the latest research data
available. According to research data, proprioceptive training can have a preventive effect,
especially on the incidence of sports injuries in the lower extremities. The theoretical parts
of the completed guide were compiled from the studied data. The exercises in the guide
were created based on the studies of the theoretical framework, considering the sport-specific training as well as the most common sports injuries among the client´s athletes. The
proposal for further research is to do a systematic review of sports injuries among figure
skaters
