The aim of the thesis was to organize an event for Bulevardin Kahvisalonki, a tradi-tional café located in Helsinki. As the café’s 7-year anniversary of operations was ap-proaching, the owners commissioned Chris Carling and Mikaela Waller to organize a two-day celebration event at the café.
The event was held on 4 and 5 May 2012. The first day there were short music per-formances similar to those the authors had previously arranged. The second day was a so called Open Stage Night, which means that the stage was open for everyone and also for different types of performances.
The authors used a short survey investigating what both the performers and the audi-ence, i.e. the café customers thought of the event. Most respondents considered the idea good and stated that that they enjoyed the event. Some customers, especially elderly people, replied that the music was too loud and they would have preferred to converse with each other without any extra program.
Based on the results, the authors concluded that the event was successful, even though the marketing process proved to be difficult and not many customers came to the café for the event only. The café owners were also pleased with the event and the coopera-tion.
