Tiivistelmä
Providing an empowering environment through e-learning is a wide area. This wide area can be divided into two parts, a pedagogical part and a technological part. The pedagogical part concentrates on the environment, experience, knowledge, situation and learning goals which are set by the teacher and student. The technological part concentrates on the information technology, which can help to generate this environment.
This thesis aimed to collect and analyze data for providing an empowering environment through e-learning for students of applied sciences.
This study began with interviewing with different lecturers to use their experiences, feed-backs and comments in order to create a base line for empowering environments.
Moreover the study defined requirements for an empowering environment and emphasized the user interface of the empowering environment. Also this study work discussed about the Moodle environment as an online environment, the Stack mathematical program for generating random mathematical questions and the Maxima mathematical program for solving mathematical questions.
This study can be continued by studying other online environments and other mathematical programs in order to create a better empowering environment.
