Tiivistelmä
Budgetering är en målinriktad monetär handlingsplan. Budgeten är företagets verktyg för finansiell planering och uppföljning. Med hjälp av en budget får företaget en uppfattning om vad som skapar lönsamhet och kontroll över företagets ekonomi. Lärdomsprovets syfte är att få förståelse för hur företag sköter sin budgetering och hur deras budgeteringsprocess är utformad samt varför de valt att använda sig av metoden budgetering. I lärdomsprovet har en kvalitativ undersökningsmetodik använts. Böcker och artiklar är den sekundärdata som används i den teoretiska delen av lärdomsprovet. Primärdata har samlats in via intervjuer med två utvalda företag, sedan jämfördes företagens budgeteringsprocess med varandra. Lärdomsprovets resultat är att budgeten fungerar som ett redskap och används för att kunna ha koll på verksamhetens ekonomi samt för att företagets utgifter och intäkter skall kunna balanseras med varandra. Budgeten behöver heller inte vara detaljerad, huvudsaken är att de största och viktigaste posterna finns med och att man gör en ordentlig uppföljning av företagets budget. Budgeting is a targeted monetary action plan. The budget is the company's tool for financial planning and monitoring. With the help of a budget the company acquires an idea of what creates profitability and control over the company's finances. The aim of the thesis is to gain an understanding of how companies manage their budgeting and how their budgeting process is designed and why they chose to use the method of budgeting. In the thesis is a qualitative research methodology used. Books and articles are the secondary data used in the theoretical part of the thesis. Primary data were collected through interviews with the two selected companies, and then the corporate budgeting processes were compared to each other. The findings show that the budget serves as a tool and is used to keep track of the business economy as well as for balancing company expenses and revenues. The budget need not be detailed, the main thing is that the largest and most important items are present and to make a proper follow-up of the company's budget.
