Opinnäytetyön tarkoitus oli järjestää onnistunut Tyyneysmessu. Tavoitteena oli tuottaa aineisto, jonka perusteella Tyyneysmessujen toteutus helpottuisi seurakunnissa. Tyyneysmessu on jumalanpalvelus, joka on suunnattu ihmisille, jotka kokevat itsensä vieraantuneiksi kirkosta sekä niille jotka kärsivät riippuvuuksista.
Tyyneysmessua oli suunnittelemassa lisäksemme Tornion seurakunnan kirkkoherra, diakonityöntekijöitä, pappi, sekä kanttori. Tyyneysmessun toteutuksessa oli mukana vapaaehtoisten lauluryhmä, todistuspuheenvuorojen pitäjiä, vapaaehtoisia seurakuntalaisia sekä seurakunnan työntekijöitä.
Opinnäytetyön teoriaosuudessa käsiteltiin Kirkosta vieraantumista, voimaantumista, vertaistukea, syrjäytymistä ja sen ehkäisyä sekä Tyyneysmessua.
Tyyneysmessusta kerätty palaute oli myönteistä. Palautteiden perusteella Tyyneysmessujen tarve on suuri. Jatkossa seurakunnassa voitaisiin kehittää Tyyneysmessujen markkinointia sekä niiden sisältöä.

        ABSTRACT

The aim of the thesis was to organize a successful mass of serenity. The goal was to produce material which makes the execution of mass of serenity easier in parishes. A mass of serenity is a worship moment which is targeted for people who feel estranged from church, and for those who suffer from dependencies.
The organizing team included the writers of this thesis and the vicar of Tornio parish, Finland; deacon workers; a priest and a church musician. The mass was put into practice by a voluntary singing choir, testimonial speakers, volunteers from the parish and parish employees.
In the theoretical part of the thesis the estrangement from church, empowerment, peer support, social exclusion and prevention of it, and also the mass of serenity were defined.
The feedback from the mass of serenity was positive. According to the response there is a great need for masses of serenity to be organized. In future the parishes could improve the marketing and the content of masses of serenity.
