The aim of this thesis is to research and develop working models of internal communication structures and practices for SME-organization located in Joensuu, Finland. The goal consists of working models to enhance internal communication and strengthen organizational culture so that the employees could work more efficiently as a social group. Research consisted of interviews which aimed to create a picture of current internal communication practices and models in client organization. Interviewed people were chosen randomly throughout current organization structure and the interviews were kept very open to retrieve as much of silent information as possible. Using literature and interview material, development plans were made. This was accomplished by collecting central development areas from interviews and creating both cultural and structural development plans from this material. Practical implementation of these development plans were left to the organization and involving employees to get better level of commitment to changes is recommended. Some of suggested areas of development have already started different development processes in client organization. This suggests that that data retrieval and selected areas of development were chosen correctly and approved by the client organization....

Rescue Acts (397/2011) demands for the competence of emergency services officer in charge have caused a need for change in the officers emergency duty system. Rescue Act 34§ says distinctly that rescue authority leads emergency operations. Other rescue departments’ employee or contractor fireman can also be in charge of emergency operation before competent rescue authority takes the lead of emergen-cy operations. The purpose of officers emergency duty system is to ensure round the clock professional management in tasks where rescue platoons or bigger rescue units are needed in the area of Jokilaakso rescue department. The basis of planning the officers standby system has been that it fills the demands of national rescue services preparedness planning instructions as well as possible. In doing so, the staff required by the rescue company can also be formed from our area and also partly rescue company’s platoons management. There are many different choices to implement the officers emergency duty system. The system has already changed four times since 2004. The opinions about the possible prospective officers emergency duty system were gathered by conducting an email inquiry directed to officers doing the emergency duty and with theme interviews. The purpose of this thesis was to introduce a new learning environment that was built for students with special needs in vocational school. The study has two sights: at first the process and progress in the school organization when developing new learning environment are introduced. On the other hand this thesis is a kind of practical handbook on how to create and develop shop Linna Puoti. New and diverse learning environments are tried to be created in vocational schools. The purpose is to find new environments where students can practice work tasks in real situations. The shop Linna Puoti is developed in co-operation with Luovi College, Criminal Sanctions Agency and North Karelian Osuuskauppa (retail co-operative). Linna Puoti is situated in shopping center Prisma. Knowledge management is an essential tool for a manager who is linking school and business organizations. The manager has to manage to lead his team through the change in the company. In this action research new study material is collected by interviewing employees. This thesis is about the development possibilities of competence in network communication and competence management of network communication in Universities of Applied Sciences in Eastern Finland. The thesis was commissioned by Karelia University of Applied Sciences. The main target of study was public network communication like social media of personnel of Karelia University of Applied Sciences and Savonia University of Applied Sciences. Public network communication like social media is commonly used by personnel of universities, but usually there is only minor support and guidance available provided by the organisation. It is common that personnel mix work-related and personal communication and do not follow much guidelines neither do careful planning when communicating online. The variation of communication competence management and also the variation of usage of online networks is significant. This thesis was carried out by using action research approach. Interview and workshop were chosen as research methods. The results indicate that competence management of network communication should be more formal and advanced. The primary goal of development is to gather data about network communication behaviour of personnel and formulate measures to develop the competence of network communication by using the gathered data. These measures should concentrate on sharing tacit knowledge and formulating best practices. This thesis offers solutions to carrying out these measures. Qualitative research of efficient and beneficial practices of sharing network communication knowledge could be an advantageous direction for further studies....

The goal of this thesis was to develop a solution selling process and a process model that creates value for the customer and Mediconsult Oy. The operational model brings the customer need, desire and feedback to Mediconsult's product development. The aim was to integrate the customer's need and desire more and more effectively in product development and to provide a more customer-oriented solution. This study was carried out as an action research. The methods used in data collection were qualitative: inquiry, group interviews, participating observation and document analysis. The theoretical basis for this study was established by studying the domestic and foreign topic-related source theories. The theories generally considered research and development, business development, solution selling and value creation. As a result of this development project, a solution-oriented operational model was created, which includes the sales process, solution focused approach and the value creation approach. The operational model was tested, and put into practice at the same time. The model was confirmed in the spring of 2013. The goals of the thesis were successfully achieved. Turnover benefits can be estimated in the long term. For the further development projects were identified, among other things, customer relationship management, customer data management, productization and offer treatment, key meters and skills development....
