A modern supervisor is a coach who engages the subordinates in the decision-making and problem solving process. In a coaching work community, the role of the supervisor and a subordinate is equally important. In the Social Insurance Institution of Finland (Kela), the training of supervisors is based on leadership coaching which is one method of supporting the employees. The purpose of this thesis was to explore how the training module ´Coaching Approach to Supervisory Work` affects the work of supervisors in Kela. The aim of the thesis was to develop the training module based on the experiences of those supervisors who had participated in the aforementioned training. The approaches used in this thesis were developmental research and service design. As the result of this thesis, a recommendation was made for Kela to develop the training module of ´Coaching Approach to Supervisory Work`. This study module can be used in the planning and implementation of similar trainings. As a further research and development work, it would be interesting to explore whether the results of this thesis have been utilized. This study was conducted as a research-oriented development project whose aim was to map out the opportunities for using digital service forms in the adult social work of the city of Joensuu. This is a topical subject as the social sector is transitioning to the digital era. The aim was to promote the availability of social services with a customer-oriented approach as well as to develop the working methods and online skills of personnel. The purpose of this study was to produce recommendations on the utilisation of customer-oriented digital methods in social services. The development process was implemented as linear cycles which included programming, identification, assessment, and planning as well as funding, implementation and assessment phases. Material was produced using different methods during the development process. The methods used included a learning café, SWOT analysis, feedback from customers, personnel and networks as well as freely-worded journals containing observations and feedback. The digital experiments carried out for 100 days included a customer service Chat, WhatsApp and Facebook. According to the results, the utilisation of digital methods requires the management of competence, resources as well as up-to-date technical devices. Different applications lower the threshold for finding the services, improve their availability and enhance the intensity of service processes. Patient safety is part of the quality and effectiveness of care. Even though Finnish healthcare professionals are competent and careful, it is not always possible to avoid adverse events. How-ever, it is possible to learn from the errors when these adverse events are documented in the organization´s adverse event reporting system. The system itself does not solve any problems or offer development suggestions. Therefore the documented adverse events must be processed and classified with care. By doing so, the system provides reliable information on the organization´s patient safety level and issues that need to be developed. The purpose of this thesis was to promote patient safety and develop the analysing process of reported adverse events in the target organization. The aim was to prepare instructions for processing and analysing the reported adverse events. The finalised instructions will be given to the nursing supervisors in the target organization. The use of the development research approach in this thesis made it possible to collect information on challenging and problematic issues in the analysing process of the reported adverse events in the target organization. As the result of this thesis, processing instructions were created to analyse the reported adverse events. Opinnäytetyön aihe saatiin toimeksiantona Pohjois-Karjalan sairaanhoito- ja sosiaalipalvelujen kuntayhtymän logistiikkahankkeelta. Hankkeen yhtenä tavoitteena oli mahdollistaa hoitohenkilökunnan keskittyminen hoitotyöhön aiempaa enemmän kehittämällä organisaation logistisia toimintoja ja ottamalla käyttöön hoitotarvikelogistiikkapalvelut. Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli lisätä hoitotyön tehokkuutta erikoissairaanhoidon vuodeosastoilla lean-menetelmiä hyödyntämällä. Tavoitteena oli luoda yhdessä hoitohenkilökunnan kanssa toimintamalli, miten hoitotarvikelogistiikasta vapautunut työaika hyödynnetään hoitotyöhön. Opinnäytetyön tehtävinä oli selvittää, kuinka paljon aikaa kului hoitotarvikelogistisiin tehtäviin ennen ja jälkeen kanbanin käyttöönottoa sekä kartoittaa hoitohenkilökunnan kokemuksia hoitotarvikelogistiikasta. Tehtävänä oli myös laatia yhdessä hoitohenkilökunnan kanssa toimenpiteitä, joiden avulla kohdennetaan työaikaa hoitajien koulutusta ja osaamista vastaavaan hoitotyöhön. Opinnäytetyö sisälsi piirteitä tutkimuksellisesta kehittämistoiminnasta ja toimintatutkimuksesta. Apuna käytettiin myös lean-menetelmiä. Kehittämistoiminta koostui gembasta, webropol-kyselystä, kolmesta työpajasta ja kahdesta osastokokouksesta. Opinnäytetyön tuotoksena syntyi toimintamalli, jota voidaan hyödyntää suunniteltaessa hoitotarvikelogistiikasta vapautuneen työajan hyödyntämistä arvoa tuottavaan hoitotyöhön. Toimintamallissa esitetyt toimenpiteet ovat välitöntä hoitotyötä ja kohdistuvat suoraan potilaaseen.
