Päivystystalon raajavammanavigaattori osana Terveyskylän sähköisten palveluiden kehittämistä
(Laurea-ammattikorkeakoulu, 2018)
With the concept of ”raajavammanavigaattori” I mean symptom Navigator that is designed to distinguish fractures from other non-obstetric limb injuries this is a term used in Finnish and there is no official translation yet. The ”raajavammanavigaattori” is at ”Päivystystalo” (Emergency Unit House) at the website ”Terveyskylä.fi'”. The ”raajavammanavigaattori” is an symptom Navigator that works on the Internet and is designed to help the service user to find out if a symptom or injury requires care at an emergency unit. ”Raajavammanavigaattori” is the first symptom Navigator in the ”Päivystystalo”. The purpose of the thesis was to find out if it is possible in the future to reduce unnecessary visits in emergengy units. The purpose of the thesis was to collect information from users. The answer were expected to be received through the questions of the thesis that were: How useful is the ”raajavammanavigaattori” from the users’ perspective? How well do the users determine their own ability to evaluate their own health status in case of a possible fracture? What would prevent the use of ”raajavammanavigaattori”? Does the respondent have prior experience with the same type of services? The thesis was done in co-operation with The Hospital District of Helsinki and Uusimaa (HUS) Information Management. The results of the thesis are utilized in the development of the ”raajavammanavigaattori”. One of the key ideas for revitalizing the healthcare system is to strengthen the role of citizens with their own health and possible illnesses. Electronic services can provide intermediaries for more active participation in health promotion and disease management. The ”Virtuaalisairaala 2.0” (Virtual Hospital 2.0) project focuses on the development of electronic services, development is mainly done through ”Terveyskylä”. Service design is used to design and implement services through co-development. In service design, where the development takes place in co-operation with the customer and the stakeholders, with the aim of developing service paths that are smooth for both the customer and the employee. The thesis was carried out as a quantitative survey, which was executed in summer 2017. The results of the thesis are analyzed on a statistically illustrative method that has been used to disclose the distribution of the thesis answers between different questions. The ”raajavammanavigaattori” was believed to be reliable and it was felt that it gives similar instructions to what can be given at an on emergency unit. On the basis of the results, the respondents felt that the best way to evaluate their own well-being was with the help of a clarifying text of the symptoms. It was hoped that the ”raajavammanavigaattori” has a clear and easy-to-use operating system and its guidlines are both professional and correct. In the future the ”raajavammanavigaattori” should be tested using a beta version to see if the users´ability to evaluate their own health status is realistic or not and how well the ”raajavammanavigaattori” can separate the fracture from a suspected fracture. Attention should also be paid to how easy it is to find and use the ”raajavammanavigaattori”....

The purpose of this functional thesis was to produce a tool for mental health care of the youth and social work with substance abusers. The aim of the tool is to help professionals of health care to survey disadvantages caused to young people having parents with alcohol addiction. Mental disorders of the youth and their symptoms are also surveyed. With the help of the tool protective factors can be found for the youth. The aim is to strengthen and support the survival of them despite of the disadvantages caused by the parents. The mental health of young people can be also promoted with the protective factors. By distinguishing and strengthening protective factors can repairing care, preventive care and health promotion for mental health be pursued, as well as work for substance abusers. The topic of this thesis was chosen by the basis that it is a current issue and because of self-interest. This functional thesis includes a written report and a functional part that includes the design and implementation of the tool. The tool is designed and implemented based on the theoretical framework of this thesis. The theoretical framework describes alcohol addiction and its impact on parenthood, families and teenagers. It describes also growth of the young, growth tasks and the mental health of the young and risk factors of mental health. In addition, these topics are described in the theoretical part: factors supporting and promoting survival of the youth, protective factors of them and child protection. The data in the theoretical part is collected from these databases: the Laurea Finna search service, the Medic database, the Public Library archive (Julkari) and the Google Scholar search. In addition, Oppiportti tool, Duodecim magazine, and Current Care Guidelines were also used in the theoretical part. A nurse working at ”Nuorten matala kynnys” service was a connection to working life. The service is a “low threshold” service for the youth in Porvoo. The service is provided by mental health and substance abuse services of Porvoo. The tool was done in cooperation with this partner. The valuable experience and knowledge from the work cooperation partner was vital for the execution of the tool. The tool consists of two parts. The first part consists of a survey to find out the disadvantages of parents’ alcohol addiction in the life of a teenager and the symptoms of mental disorders. The second part of the tool helps to identify protective factors of the youth that help them to survive despite the drawbacks caused by parents’ alcohol addiction and protect the mental health of the youth. The tool was reviewed by the working cooperation partner and her colleague. The tool was described as necessary and applicable and as it is suitable for working with the youth. The second part of the tool was also reviewed to be a successful idea. The proposal for development of this thesis is a functional thesis related to the same topic with the aim of providing functional guidance or working together with the youth whose parents have a substance addiction....
