Sexually transmitted diseases and their prevention – Guide for upper elementary school students. The purpose of this thesis was to increase the youngsters’ knowledge about sexually transmitted diseases and their prevention. The objective was to make a guide about this subject for upper elementary school students. This thesis is based on the school health inquiry made by the National Institute for Health and Welfare(THL), and applies the answers given in years 2000/2001-2010/2011. The school health inquiry was made among upper elementary school eighth and ninth graders as well as first and second graders in vocational colleges and high schools. This thesis examines the answers given by the upper elementary school eighth and ninth graders (girls and boys). This thesis was made in cooperation with Vantaa city. A guide added to Vantaa city’s internet website. It is possible to read a guide on the Internet or it can be printed. Information provided by this thesis and especially the guide can be used in Vantaa City school health care and as a means to support sex education. The school health inquiry in the years 2010/2011 shows that sixteen percent of all upper elementary school students did not know that condom is the only preventive measure that protects from sexually transmitted diseases. This percentage has stayed almost the same for ten years. It shows that the sex education given to youngsters has not been effective. The school health inquiry shows also that youngsters have lack of information in sexually transmitted diseases. Fifteen percent of upper elementary school students did not know that sometimes sexually transmitted disease can also be completely symptomless and thirteen percent could not even answer to that question in the years 2010/2011. The school health inquiry reveals that upper elementary school students have insufficient information about the facts related to sexuality. It also shows that the youngsters’ sexual knowledge has stayed almost at the same level during ten years and the knowledge of sexuality has not increased even though sex education has been increased....

Meilahden Kolmiosairaalaan kardiologisen vuodeosasto 5:n sähköinen ohjauskansio opiskelijoille

Opinnäytetyömme on osa Laurea-ammattikorkeakoulun Kolmiosairaalan hanketta, jossa yhteistyökumppani on Helsingin ja Uudenmaan sairaanhoitopiirin eli HUS:n medisiininen tulosyksikkö. Opinnäytetyömme pohjautuu kardiologisen vuodeosasto 5:n omiin tarpeisiin kehittää opiskelijaohjausta ja saattaa opiskelijaohjauskansio sähköiseen muotoon. Opinnäytetyömme tarkoituksena on tuottaa kardiologiselle vuodeosasto 5:lle opiskelijaohjauskansio sähköiseen muotoon. Työn tavoitteena on kehittää osaston opiskelijaohjausta.
Opinnäytetyössämme käytämme hyödyksi tietokoneen tuomia mahdollisuuksia PowerPoint-ohjelman avulla. Kun tuottamamme opiskelijaohjauskansio on sähköisessä muodossa, pystytään se helposti päivittämään ajantasaisella tiedolla. Teoreettiseksi taustaksi olemme hakeneet sekä suomalaisia että kansainvälisiä tutkimuksia opiskelijaohjaukseen ja sähköisiin materiaaleihin liittyen. Toiminnallinen opinnäytetyömme kuuluu laadullisen terveystutkimuksen piiriin ja olemme pohtineet ja analysoineet tuloksia ja tuotosta laadullisen terveystutkimuksen luotettavuuden ja eettisten kriteereiden mukaan.
Työn tuloksena syntyi sähköinen opiskelijaohjauskansio, joka on PowerPoint-muodossa. Sähköinen opiskelijaohjauskansio sisältää tietoa osaston toiminnasta, potilaista sekä yleisistä käytänteistä, joita osastolle tulevien opiskelijoiden olisi hyvä tietää. Lisäksi kansiossa on tietoa ohjatusta harjoittelusta. Kansiota elävöittämässä ja tekstin tukena on kaavioita ja kuvia HUS:n sairaalaympäristöstä.
Sähköisen opiskelijaohjauskansion avulla opiskelija pystyy harjoittelujakson alussa ja sen aikana itsenäisesti tutustumaan osaston toimintaan ja näin kansio tukee opiskelijaohjausta sekä opiskelijan oppimista.

The purpose of this thesis was to conduct two health assessment events for the residents of Suurpelto in Espoo and also chart the residents` opinions about low-threshold services by a questionnaire. The thesis is operational and its aim was to create recommendations for low-threshold services for the Suurpelto area. The theoretical background of the thesis is based on literature, other low-threshold service projects and the results of the questionnaire. The thesis was carried out in Koulii project, which was conducted in co-operation with Laurea University of Applied Sciences and Omnia Joint Authority of Education in the Espoo region. The purpose of Koulii project was to design and test new innovations and activities for the newly developed Suurpelto area. Koulii project consisted of seven different service design pilots. Two separate health assessment events were conducted in Suurpelto based on this thesis. The first was conducted in February and the second in August 2012. A total of 83 customers were assessed in which 37 volunteered to answer the health assessment questionnaire. The results of the questionnaire were analyzed by using the SPSS application. In addition, the customer feedback and proposals were listed. According to the results the clients wished for health care related services, like assessments, health education, life coaching, minor nursing procedures, theme gatherings and renting of sports equipment. The recommendations for the low-threshold health care services that are based on familiarization points, health assessments and related literature can be found after the discussion of the thesis. Further study could deal with the clients` feedback and experiences regarding the low-threshold health care services. In the future social and mental health care services could be combined with the low-threshold health care services. Keywords:...

Vauvamyönteinen imetysohjaus Vantaan neuvoloissa

Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli kuvata terveydenhoitajien antaman imetysohjauksen nykytilaa ja imetykseen liittyviä täydennyskoulutustarpeita Vantaan äitiys- ja lastenneuvoloissa. Vantaa on tarjonnut systemaattisesti imetysohjaajakoulutusta neuvolaterveydenhoitajilleen viime vuosina. Terveyskeskukselle laaditaan omaa vauvamyönteisyysohjelmaa. Osana sitä otetaan kantaa imetykseen liittyvään täydennyskoulutukseen. Tämän opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli tuottaa tietoa, jota voidaan hyödyntää laadittaessa vauvamyönteisyysohjelmaa ja suunniteltaessa imetysohjaukseen liittyvää täydennyskoulutusta. Työssä selvitettiin, miten terveydenhoitajat toteuttavat vauvamyönteistä imetysohjausta, millaista osaamista ja mitä täydennyskoulutustarpeita heillä on siihen liittyen ja miten moniammatillinen tiimityö tukee vauvamyönteistä imetystä.
Opinnäytetyön aineisto kerättiin kyselyllä ja haastatteluilla. Sähköiseen kyselyyn kutsuttiin vastaamaan kaikki Vantaan neuvoloissa työskentelevät terveydenhoitajat. Haastateltaviksi valittiin kolme Vantaan neuvoloissa työskentelevää imetysohjaajakouluttajaa.
Terveydenhoitajien antamassa imetysohjauksessa havaittiin vauvamyönteisiä piirteitä. Ohjausta tarjotaan hieman suosituksia vähemmän. Omaan osaamiseensa eniten luottavat terveydenhoitajat antavat useammin ohjausta, suhtautuvat imetykseen vauvamyönteisemmin ja hyödyntävät kollegoidensa osaamista ahkerammin kuin muut. Osaamisen kehittämiseksi ja terveydenhoitajien verkostoitumisen edistämiseksi kannattaa edelleen järjestää kaupungin omaa imetysohjauskoulutusta. Täydennyskoulutustarpeina nousivat esille erityistä tukea vaativien asiakkaiden tunnistaminen ja ohjaus sekä käytännönläheisten imetysohjausneuvojen saaminen. Sairaanhoitopiirin kanssa järjestettävää yhteistyökoulutusta pidettiin tärkeänä. Muiden terveydenhoitajien ja perhetyöntekijöiden imetysohjauksen koettiin edistävän vauvamyönteistä imetystä. There are approximately 50 000 people with autism spectrum disorders in Finland and one fifth of them are autistic. The spectrum of autism includes multiple weaknesses as well as strengths affecting an individual. With the support of individually planned early rehabilitation and training arrangements an increasing number of autistic people are able to take advantage of their strengths in a way that supports their daily lives. (Autismi- ja Aspergerliitto ry 2013, b) Therefore, it is important to be able to find the specific developmental characteristics referring to autism at the earliest possible stage. So that the child can be guaranteed with an individual rehabilitation to get started as early as possible, this enables to take advantage of the child's strengths and to take into account the potential weaknesses. This thesis was conducted in cooperation with Helsinki University Central Hospital’s autism day center L13 that is located in Children’s Castle. The purpose of the thesis was to find out how the rehabilitation of children under school age suffering from an autism spectrum disorder can be evaluated. The thesis was conducted by using the methods of a systematic literature review. The goal of the thesis was to provide information on what the key factors are when assessing the rehabilitation of an under seven-year old child suffering from an autism spectrum disorder. The study questions were: What are the means of estimating the rehabilitation of an under seven-year-old child who suffers from an autism spectrum disorder? In which developmental and characteristic features attention should be paid to when assessing a child under seven-year old suffering from an autism spectrum disorder? The material for the thesis was collected by using various databases of which 12 dissertations and research articles were selected. According to the findings when evaluating a child suffering from autism spectrum disorder there are following features that need to be observed: growth, activity, playing- and observation skills, regulation of feelings, sleeping and eating, emotional disturbance, reactions and expressions of senses, speech production, verbal expressions, comprehending and developing speech, body language, interpretation of non-verbal communication, skills of interaction and interpersonal skills, social development and behaving in social situations, motoric coordination and development, manners, stereotypes, daily skills and gender ratio. When evaluating a child suffering from a condition of the autism spectrum, the severity of the child's symptoms and characteristics should be compared to the rehabilitation in the beginning and until the current moment. The child's progress in these fields is most visible in coping with everyday situations. Interviewing parents and acknowledging their observations is an important part of the rehabilitation evaluation. It is also possible to get a wider image of the child's progress by observations conducted by day care professionals....

Sense of coherence of ninth grade students The purpose of the thesis is to find out the sense of coherence of ninth grade students at critical transitional stage at the ending of comprehensive school. The study was made for the ninth grade students of the Pääskytie comprehensive school located in the town of Porvoo. The thesis gives current information about the feeling of life management of young adults and possible need of support and guidance. The study part of the thesis compares the different feelings between female and male students in the transitional stage of youth. The study is carried out as a quantitative study. Altogether 130 students participated in the study, the age range was from 15 to 17. In the study, a sense of coherence’s indicator, SOC-13, based on Aaron Antonovsky’s worldwide theory of the salutogenesis is used. In the questionnaire 13 claims were answered, which are numbered on the 1-7 Likert scale. SOC-13 form contained questions, which deal with different sectors of the sense of coherence, known as meaningfulness, comprehensibility and manageability. The analysis of the study was performed with the help of the SPSS 18.0 statistics programme. Based on the results it can be said that the sense of coherence is weak or average at this point of their lives. The study also shows that male students’ sense of coherence was stronger than female students’. It turned out that the young need more support and control in order to success well in postgraduate studies or working life.
