Activity day in Peltolas middle school; young people courtship and emotions Purpose of this functional thesis was to plan and carry out two activity days in Peltola's middle school, which was a part of sexual health care. The topic was courtship and emotions. The final thesis was part of the project Schools as a partners and liaison officer was Peltola's middles school's health care teacher. The target group was eight and nine graders and the activities were carried out in small groups. The aim was to encourage young people to talk about their feelings and matters which are part of courtship. Also the purpose was to support and promote young people's sexual growth. During the group situation there was a discussion about courtship problems which was based on the example report. Conversation introduced the positive sides of courtship and what feelings are involved. Young people were free to ask and give comments on related topics. The theory examines young person's idea of the world and sexual development, also health promotion and health education in schools was considered. The young sexual image is shaped by the environment and through other people. The young may withdraw her/himself and use a variety defense mechanisms, so she/he wouldn’t have to talk about issues related to sexual development, example with her/his parents. Things might feel embarrassing but the thirst for knowledge is high. The result is that the young needs a lot of support and encouragement. The school is a place where young people can receive the right kind of information about sexual health. Courtship and feelings are the interesting topics among young people but too rarely discussed with the grown-up people. Final thesis was carried out according to the plan and evaluation of the project was used in the observation and forms were used to get feedback from the students. Most of the young people were satisfied with the day's content, and they did express that there is a need to continue the same kind of days. Young people did feel the subject was current even though very few students of Peltola's middle school have had informal experiences. The future of the related issues, however, was important to deal with....
