The subject of this thesis is a product launch for a B2B company and specifically how to improve the product launch process for Company-X, which produces vehicle components. The focus of this thesis is the launch of Product-Z by Company-X. The scope of the thesis project was limited to a B2B company’s product launch which differs greatly from a B2C company’s product launch. The aim is to find out how B2B-company’s product launch should be done in theory and whether it is possible to use the knowledge gathered from theory to improve Company-X’s product launch process. The objective is to get a comprehensive understanding of a B2B company’s product launch and reflect theory in Company-X’s product launch practice. The task in this thesis is to study Company-X’s product launch process using a qualitative research method. The main focus of the research is how Company-X’s product launch process works and how it could be improved so product launches in future would yield even better results. The theoretical framework consists one main chapter. The section provides information about B2B-company’s product launch theory. It examines success of the product, target groups, market segmentation, product launch process and the timing of product launch. The study in this thesis was conducted as a qualitative study. The data collection method used was the theme interview. There was 5 themes for the interview and they were: planning of the product launch, concretize of the product launch, training the organization, product release and expost evaluation. The interviewee was Company-X’s CEO who had large role in Product-Z’s launch. According to the research results, Company-X trusts their experience and won’t make written product launch plans or budgets. The company has a shortage of personnel which is why they have been unable to expand their product selection and have had problems to find time for all the customer meetings resulting from the product launch. The product launch was a success thanks to Company-X’s extensive experience and strong customer relationships. Company-X must hire more personnel in future and because of this they should also focus on written product launch plans and training of the organization....

The topic of this thesis is divorce and how the relating process is handled in the District Court. I work in the District Court of Espoo as a registry secretary and I also was assistant registrar before I transferred to another department for a fixed-period. Due to the organizational reform in 2012 the handling of the divorce petitions was transferred to the registry office. The divorce petitions, which are based on a reconsideration period, can be handled in the registry office of the District Court of Espoo if there are no other legal issues relating to divorce and if both of the spouses are registered in a Finnish municipality. The thesis includes theoretical and practical sections. The first section of the thesis deals with the process in the civil, crime and non-contentious civil matters at a general level. Because the Finnish matrimonial law legislates also matrimony and divorce, the thesis handles the history of matrimonial law, matrimony and the process of divorce. The divorce process is handled at a detailed level. In addition, the effects of globalization are visible in the handling of divorce petitions in the Finnish Courts. It is possible that the spouses have different nationalities, they might have married abroad or one of the spouses may even live abroad during the divorce process. Therefore, I have included an international point of view, and I review the competences of Finnish Courts in the case of international divorces. Part of the assistant registrar work is to brief the new employee and that is the reason why the practical section of the thesis consists of instructions that deal with the handling of divorce petitions. These instructions are created specifically for the registry office of the District Court of Espoo. The different stages of the handling of divorces are specified, because the new employees are usually not familiar with the procedure. The purpose of the “Attractive digital marketing” thesis is to help Farenta Oy’s digital sales and marketing take a step closer to modern practices. The thesis is an operational development work, the results of which include current state analysis of Farenta sales and marketing, and further development suggestions. These enable Farenta to further develop different aspects of sales and marketing. The theory of the thesis relies on literature, studies and professional debate, which actively takes place online among digital sales and marketing professionals. The central aspects of the digital marketing have been collected in the theory: search engine marketing, search engine optimization, content, social media, conversion optimization and web analytics. The material of the current state analysis was collected by thematically interviewing Farenta’s staff and by monitoring the website and its activity. During the thesis process, Facebook, Google Adwords and Content workshops were organised. The current state analysis model, which was developed during the work, can be used for analysing any business's digital sales and marketing. Farenta's current state analysis revealed the aspects that require most development. These aspects include, e.g. the website’s search engine optimisation, user friendliness and content. In order to implement modern sales and marketing, it must be understand entity of the digital marketing and effect of different aspects on each other. Farenta reviewed the thesis and found it useful. Online commerce is a growing field of retailing and every year an increasing amount of consumer spending takes place in web stores. The importance of web page design is highlighted in successful online consumer sales. Web stores are primarily self-service channels, in which customers have to find products, without the store personnel’s assistance. A successful web store has to design its website so that the page hierarchy is easy and intuitive for the customer. Organization and grouping of the products in the page hierarchy, as well as the page’s navigation tools, should support the user's - in other words the customer's - purchasing process. Central aspects are the products and their findability. The study was carried out primarily for companies operating in sports retailing in Finland. The study may also be utilized by operators in other fields of retailing, as well as web store designers in general. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with e-commerce, usability and web store design. Common web store layouts and key features are outlined. The array of different navigational tools and options utilized in the industry are examined. The data for the study was collected using a usability test and a semi-structured interview. The study is qualitative. The purpose of the usability test was to simulate the early part of a customer's online purchasing process. The users were tasked with finding specific product listings in the web stores of Finland's three most prominent sports retailers. The test cases were used to identify strengths and weaknesses relating to usability in the specified web stores. In the semi-structured interview, the users had the chance to comment on their experiences and disclose what they experienced as the best web store. The study showed that out of the three major web stores of sports retailing in Finland, XXL had designed and executed the best navigation and product listings. Finding a meaningful difference between Intersport and Stadium proved to be difficult. Both web stores clearly had their work cut out for them in terms of improving their navigation and product listings. According to the results, web store users shopping on personal computers are best served by large and detailed navigations, which provide a path that is as direct as possible to readily prepared product lists. In addition, tools to help navigate the site should be clearly labelled and easily accessible for the user. A well-designed web store yields a significant competitive advantage to any merchant, regardless of the field of retailing....

The aim of this thesis project was to design a basic payroll accounting course for Laurea University of Applied Sciences. Laurea did not have a separate payroll course when this thesis was started, though the need for such a course was recognized. This thesis was executed as a functional study research using a quantitative methods. The final product of the thesis is a course plan for the payroll course. Document analysis and interviews were used as a means to gather data. Payroll textbooks were the primary source documents, but also information on the internet was utilized. Three people with different perspectives were interviewed. These informants included a financial administration student, a payroll expert and a payroll teacher at an UAS. Based on the research, it can be concluded that there is a need for a separate payroll course. To be able to work as a wages clerk it is necessary to know the details of several laws. On a basic course it is important to learn the laws and the calculation of wages instead of collective agreements, because the collective agreements only bring enhancements to the laws. The goal of a basic payroll course is not to prepare the students fully for a job as a wages clerk, but to give them sufficient information to learn more, either on follow-up courses or in the working life. The information available in the payroll textbooks are, according to this research, adequate for a basic payroll course. For this reason, the contents of payroll textbooks were used when creating the course plan....

Rekrytointiprosessin harmonisoiminen yrityksessä X

Opinnäytetyön tarkoitus oli tutkia rekrytointia henkilöstöhallinnon osa-alueena. Rekrytointi oli tutkimisen kohteena nimenomaan prosessiluontoisena ilmiönä. Tavoitteena oli syventyä toimeksiantajayrityksen rekrytointiprosessiin sekä mahdollisiin prosessin pullonkauloihin sekä heikkouksiin. Edellytyksenä tavoitteeseen pääsemiselle oli aidosti paikantaa ongelmat ja tarjota niihin ratkaisuvaihtoehtoja. Toimeksiantaja esitellään opinnäytetyössä nimellä yritys X. Opinnäytetyön aihe on toimeksiantajalle erittäin ajankohtainen, sillä kyseinen konserni on kasvuvaiheessa ja rekrytoi massiivisesti tulevien vuosien aikana. On siis olennaista, että yritys X onnistuu henkilöstöhankinnassaan.
Teoriaosuudessa käydään läpi lyhyesti prosessin määritelmä sekä syvemmin rekrytointia. Teoria havainnollistaa rekrytointiprosessia myös esittelemällä yrityksen X rekrytointiprosessin. Perustana teorialle on kirjallisuus, internetlähteet sekä yritys X:n tarjoamat materiaalit.
Tutkimuksessa käytettiin kahta kvalitatiivista menetelmää. Avoin haastattelu sekä Palvelupolku–menetelmä toteutettiin samanaikaisesti valitulle joukolle yrityksen X työntekijöitä. Haastateltavat työskentelevät aktiivisesti rekrytointiprosessin parissa, kukin eri rooleissa. Haastateltavien joukkoon lukeutui rekrytoivia esimiehiä sekä henkilöstöhallinnon ammattilaisia. Avoin haastattelu suoritettiin Palvelupolun ympärillä vapaamuotoisena keskusteluna teemoihin liittyen. Yhteensä kymmentä työntekijää haastateltiin. Haastatteluissa edellä mainittuja tutkimusmenetelmiä hyödyntäen käytiin läpi rekrytointiprosessia vaihe vaiheelta.
Tutkimuksesta kävi ilmi, että rekrytointiprosesseissa sekä toimintatavoissa on eroavaisuuksia yrityksen X sisällä. Myös itse prosessista pystyttiin paikantamaan vaiheita ja kipukohtia, joita voitiin lähteä kehittämään. Vaikeimmiksi kipukohdiksi haastateltavat kokivat rekrytointilupavaiheen sekä loppuhaastattelut. Kokonaisprosessin kannalta haasteet liittyivät ajankäyttöön, vastuunjakoon sekä viestintään ja esimiehen rekrytointiosaamiseen. Kehitysehdotuksina esitellään joko loppuhaastatteluiden poisjättäminen tietyissä prosesseissa tai niiden toteuttaminen, mutta itse haastattelun sisällön parantaminen sekä tavoitteen selkeyttäminen prosessin sidosryhmille. Opinnäytetyö esittelee myös tutkimuksen pohjalta toteutetun ehdotuksen siitä, millaisiin asioihin rekrytoivien esimiesten koulutuksessa olisi hyvä keskittyä....
