The purpose of this thesis project was to research how premises affect work well-being. The thesis was commissioned by the City of Vantaa, Department of Education. At the time of the thesis project, the personnel of the Department of Education spent most of their working time in their own workrooms and interaction between them mostly took place in formal situations. The knowledge base of this thesis reviews such areas as the management of the working environment, premises, work well-being and its fields, and an interior architect’s responses to an interview. For the empirical part of the thesis project, eight employees of the city of Vantaa, Department of Education, were interviewed in order to investigate how the work premises influence their work well-being, whether they would want to change their premises, the wishes they have regarding the premises and what they think about multi-space offices. The semi-structured interview was chosen as the qualitative research method. The study showed that the premises influence the well-being of the personnel, especially with regard to the interaction between them. The desired, natural interaction between personnel is not enabled due to the premises. The interview left an impression that multi-space office was often confused with open office. There was a wish for more spaces to do assignments that require concentration and for social moments. The solution to these wishes would be a multi-space office. One of the development proposals suggested was the concept of bringing an expert of business premises to present different kinds of working environments to the personnel. The most suitable would be selected according to the personnel’s needs and wishes. To support the personnel’s comprehensive work well-being, meetings while walking were suggested. These kinds of actions would offer opportunities for a more refreshing, creative and communal approach to work. Putting the development suggestions into action would be important in taking personnel’s work well-being into consideration comprehensively....

Megatrendien huomioiminen muoviteollisuuden yrityksien strategioissa
(Laurea-ammattikorkeakoulu, 2016)

The aim of this thesis was to study the effects of rewarding on motivation in a recruitment company which is also the commissioner of this thesis. The purpose was to examine which rewarding methods were found to be the most motivating by the employees of the commissioner. The goal was to develop the commissioner`s old reward system, and to create recommendations for completely new ways of rewarding on the basis of the research results. In the theoretical framework of this thesis elements of rewarding and reward systems were examined. Different kind of rewarding methods, fair and strategic rewarding, the role of collective agreements and rewarding indicators were examined. In the theoretical framework, means to motivate employees and how rewarding affects motivation and work performance of employees was also explored. A quantitative survey was selected as a research method and it was carried out by an electronic form. The questionnaire was sent to 54 people, and 31 responses were received. The response rate was 57.4 per cent. As a result, it was found that the intangible rewarding was seen as the most motivating type of rewarding. An opportunity to influence working hours, appreciation from colleagues, team spirit and working culture at the workplace were experienced as the most motivating rewarding methods. Competitions were experienced as the least motivating. All respondents found the methods of rewarding mentioned in the survey on average motivating. However, significant deviation occurred throughout the answers, and for some factors, the impact on motivation was seen as contradictory. In the most motivating factors deviation was low. As a development proposal more uniform rewarding practises were suggested to the commissioner. As a practical example rewarding all employees for good results in alternative ways was recommended. In addition, it was also adviced to reward eployees by recreation vouchers. A new reward system, in which well-performing employees receive acknowledgment for their efforts on all levels of the organisation, was recommended. Also, as a new kind of educational model a mentoring program was suggested. In the development proposals the most motivating factors were considered. In addition, paying attention to the least motivating factors was considered important in order for the reward system to be fair and unbiased, but also encouraging and measuring the right things in the future....

Taloushallinnon opetuksen kehittäminen työelämän sähköistyessä
(Laurea-ammattikorkeakoulu, 2016)
Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena on löytää vaihtoehtoisia tapoja kehittää opetusta enemmän tulevaisuuden työelämän osaamistarpeita vastaaviksi. Sähköistyminen on lisääntynyt 2000-luvulla työelämässä merkittävästi.
6-3-5-brainwriting-tekniikan tarkoituksena on kehittää paljon ideoita lyhyessä ajassa.
Tutkimuksen tuotoksena muodostui kehittämisideoita taloushallinnon opetukseen ammattikorkeakouluissa....

The topic of this thesis is legal aspects of male circumcision in Finland. The thesis is based on Criminal law, Family law, European Union law and Health law. This thesis researches aspects relating to religious, cultural and medical reasons for male circumcision. Male circumcision´s acceptability has caused a lot of discussion in Finland during the last few years. There is not a law relating to male circumcision in Finland but there has been research done relating to how necessary such law is at this time. The Supreme Court´s policy has changed over the years. Previously the Supreme Court´s view was that male circumcision is not abuse. However, recently, in the spring of 2016 the Supreme Court gave a judgement that male circumcision was abuse....

Myynnin tavoitteiden ja mittareiden seuraaminen myynnin johtamisen tukena kansainväliselle autoalan yritykselle
(Laurea-ammattikorkeakoulu, 2016)
Tutkimuksen tulosten avulla toimeksiantajayritys pystyi puuttumaan suorituskykyindikaattoreiden laatuun.

”Oisko extroja tarjolla?” : työntekijän identiteetti vuokratyössä
(Laurea-ammattikorkeakoulu, 2016)
Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena on tarkastella identiteetin muodostumista vuokratyössä. Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin case-tutkimuksena henkilöstöpalveluyritykselle. Yrityksen antaman toimeksiannon perusteella tavoitteena oli tutkia vuokratyöhön liittyviä...
“Are there any extra employees available?” The employees’ identity in agency work The goal of this thesis is to inspect the work identity of rental workers, and was done as a case study for a HR services company. Based on the company’s commission, the objective was to explore both positive and negative elements of rental work. On the basis of the results, a development proposal on how the company could improve on the satisfaction of their rental workers is made. The theoretical frame of reference for this thesis focuses on rental work and identity. The nature, incidence and special features of rental work are investigated. As a phenomenon, rental work is growing and global. Although it is a very common type of work nowadays, it is still seen as an untypical. This makes rental work challenging in terms of identity. A worker’s work identity is formed in an interactive relationship. The interacting parts in forming an identity are the worker’s personal qualities and skill and the work community in which the know-how of the working individual is realized through working and getting feedback. The work community in rental work is very fragmented and possibly non-existent. It can be assumed that this affects the identity of a rental worker. The research data was collected through semi-structured personal interviews. The interviewees represented former or current rental workers of the case company. Qualitative content analysis was used to analyze the collected data. The data were then used to create development proposals for the case company, which were presented in October 2016. The development proposals are concrete suggestions on how to develop factors affecting the work of rental workers. Rental work supports, but also weakens identity. Although a rental worker is free to choose where to work, the uncertain future of jobs can be tough. The worker adjusts him- or herself to choosing the job that he or she wants to do, but getting the job can be uncertain. In a tri-partite work relationship (the employee, the employer and the user company) both the employer and the user company can influence the identity of the employee. The most important thing would be to see the worker as a professional in their field, respect his or her workman-ship and pay attention to the special features of rental work. The results of the study have increased understanding of the impact of work related factors in a rental worker’s identity. The development proposals created on the basis of this thesis will also help to address problems that deteriorate work. Implementing the proposals may improve the interviewees' job satisfaction and thereby strengthen their work identity. The work offers suggestions for further research and development of alternatives. It would be possible to examine the results quantitatively and thus obtain information on how they affect a larger group of rental workers. It would also be interesting to observe how employees in user companies relate to rental workers, because it is they who constitute the social frame of reference in which knowledge is produced and evaluated....

The aim of this thesis project was to create orientation process that increases the performance of Avaus Marketing Innovation growth hacking team’s new employees learning and facilitates the transition of new employees to productive work more quickly. The purpose of the thesis project and the orientation process created was to increase the performance of Avaus’s (MaaS) Marketing as a Service business. The process clarifies what the kinds of pragmatic skills a growth hacker needs in his/her daily job and how set objectives and responsibilities enhance learning and the transition to practice. The theoretical background presented in the thesis report clarifies the concept of growth hacking and more specifically examines the significance of growth hacking in terms of Avaus at the moment. A part of the theoretical material utilised also includes the Growth Hacker All Stars training program, which is Avaus’s planned orientation program for new employees that is presented as a benchmark and prototype of the orientation process. The modelled orientation and issues related to it were taken into account in the discussion of orientation in the theoretical section. Qualitative research methods were used in the empirical part of the thesis project, where the objective was to gain an understanding of the present state of Avaus Marketing Innovation’s growth hacking training, including its challenges and possible failings. The purpose of the qualitative research was to produce unused information on issues that increase learning and point out the kinds of practical skills that could be highlighted in growth hacking training. The theoretical material used in this thesis offered a framework for interviews conducted with growth hackers as a part of the empirical research and their topics, creating a so-called Product Market Fit. With the qualitative research early adopters were reached who took the theoretical prototype to a more practical level. Ideas and thoughts presented by the early adopters were gathered in the form of a mind map, with a summarized picture of the growth hacking training now and in the future. This mind map and the orientation theory were used to understand the orientation process for the new growth hackers. Orientation theory helped to map the process and clarify the thoughts of the interviewed growth hackers on improved orientation process. In the first stage of the process practical and technical knowledge and related professionality were highlighted as the most important skills of the growth hacker. In the second stage the priority was to understand big picture through client’s business case and project management. The third stage focuses more on deepening of the professionality by choosing either the learning path of the growth hacker or project manager. All these three stages together lead to improved performance for the growth hacking team’s new employees as well as motivating new employees to develop themselves and their professionality in the direction they want. The process thus created facilitates the new growth hackers transition to productive work beside helping senior growth hackers in their orientation and mentoring....
