This Bachelor’s thesis is a guide about copyright and contracts for small and medium-sized compa-nies (SME's). The aim of this Bachelor’s thesis is to improve SME's awareness of copyrights and to guide them as to how to deal with copyright and contracts. For that reason the basics of contract law are a large part of this work. This thesis concentrates mainly on Finnish legislation. The research for this work was largely connected to legal theoretical considerations. The most important sources were the Finnish Copyrights Act together with other Finnish legislation, legal practice, literature and web sources. The content of this thesis has been divided into three parts. The first part is about the basics of copyrights, the second part is on the basics of contract law and the third part is a practical guide about how to obtain different kinds of copyright. This thesis has an objective of providing the necessary tools for understanding the basic concepts relating to copyrights and to be able to work with copyright contracts. This work has also taken special account of the changes in the field of copyrights caused by digitalization. The practical part of this work, amongst other things, includes information about breaching someone’s copyright on the Internet and the use of open content. Because this Bachelor’s thesis is made especially for SME's the content of the Finnish Copyrights Act was considered and assessed from that perspective. Only the meaningful sections for entrepreneurs have been presented in this thesis. The thesis content has been written in a practical way so that it would be easy to understand and use in a person's own business. Even though the focus of the thesis is SME's the information obtained can also be used for associations, artists and art consumers....

Työnantajakuva tradenomiopiskelijoiden näkökulmasta, Case: Posti Group Oyj

Opinnäytetyössä tutkittiin, millainen on Postin työnantajakuva opiskelijoiden näkökulmasta, ja miten työnantajakuvaa voidaan kehittää nuorille houkuttelevammaksi. Kohderyhmänä olivat Laurea-ammattikorkeakoulun tradenomiopiskelijat, koska Postilla on tarjolla tradenomeille sopivia uramahdollisuuksia ja yrityksessä on tarvetta nuorille osaajille. Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli selvittää, millainen työnantajakuva Postilla on nuorten mielestä ja mitä ominaisuuksia nuoret arvostavat työnantajassaan. Lisäksi opinnäytetyössä tutkittiin rekrytoinnin ja työhyvinvoinnin vaikutusta työnantajakuvan muodostumisessa. Opinnäytetyön kehittämistehtävän tavoitteena oli myös tuottaa tietoa Postin strategisten tavoitteiden tueksi, joita ovat muun muassa olla alansa paras työpaikka ja kehittää uusia palveluita sekä tehdä Postista asiakaskeskeisempi tuotekeskeisen organisaation sijaan.
Opinnäytetyön teoreettisessa viitekehyksessä syvennyttiin työnantajakuvan, rekrytoinnin ja työhyvinvoinnin käsitteisiin, ja etenkin siihen, miten nämä vaikuttavat toisiinsa. Opinnäytetyön kehittämistehtävä jakautui kahteen osaan. Ensimmäisessä osassa pohdittiin Postissa syksyllä 2015 tehdyn henkilöstön omistautuneisuuskyselyn tuloksia, sillä sisäisellä työnantajakuvalla on vaikutusta myös ulkoiseen työnantajakuvaan. Toisessa osassa esiteltiin tradenomiopiskelijoille toteutettu kyselytutkimus, jonka tavoitteena oli selvittää opiskelijoiden mielikuvia Postista työnantajana.
Opiskelijoiden kyselytutkimuksesta selvisi, että nuorten mielestä Postin työnantajakuva on keskimäärin kohtalainen, mutta mielikuvat Postista olivat hyvin polarisoituneita. Opiskelijat arvostivat työnantajassa selkeästi eniten työilmapiiriä ikäluokasta tai sukupuolesta riippumatta. Yli puolet kyselyyn osallistuneista oli ainakin jonkin verran kiinnostunut työskentelemään Postissa tulevaisuudessa, mutta tieto tradenomien uramahdollisuuksista Postissa oli monilla vastaajilla puutteellista. Kiinnostuksen lisäämiseksi voisi Postin työmahdollisuuksia markkinoida enemmän ammattikorkeakouluissa, jotta tietoisuus leviäisi ja Postin työnantajakuvasta tulisi houkuttelevampi. Opiskelijat kokivat Postin luotettavaksi ja vanhoilliseksi, mutta samalla myös uudistuvaksi yritykseksi. Posti on viime vuosina tehnyt paljon uudistuksia, ja niitä pyritään myös jatkamaan tulevaisuudessa. Näin ollen on tärkeää, että yrityksestä välittyy uudistuva kuva etenkin nuorelle sukupolvelle ja tulevaisuuden työntekijöille.
Postin henkilöstön omistautuneisuuskyselyn tulokset olivat samankaltaisia kuin opiskelijolle tehdyssä kyselyssä, sillä henkilöstön omistautuneisuus oli kohtalaisella tasolla. Yrityksen oman henkilöstön tyytyväisyydellä on tutkittu olevan vaikutusta myös ulkoiseen työnantajakuvaan, ja sama vaikutus nähtiin myös opinnäytetyön kyselyn tuloksissa. Näin ollen oman henkilöstön tyytyväisyyteen on tärkeää kiinnittää huomiota, kun tavoitteena on kehittää ulkoista työnantajakuvaa....

This thesis deals with the establishment of a "fund". The assignment was to find out what kind of "fund" the client could establish and how, and would it be profitable. At the same time I had to find other similar funds and ask their experiences about establishing such a "fund". The client wanted to establish a "fund", in which investors invest money and the money is invested in start-ups. The client of the thesis was First Round Limited. First Round Limited is a private organization that seeks nationwide funding for start-ups as well as good investments for financiers. The company operates in Riihimäki. An important source related to the establishment of the "fund" was the Financial Supervisory Authority. The collection of data revealed that the most suitable fund for First Round Limited is a private equity fund or in other words alternative investment fund. Alternative investment funds are required to register for the Financial Supervisory Authority. The Financial Supervisory Authority has a list of all registered alternative investment fund managers, which there are currently a little less than 70. From the list I selected companies from whom I asked experiences about the establishment of fund. There isn’t much literature about private equity and private equity funds in Finnish so the data was mostly collected from online sources. I got answers from four alternative investment fund managers. Each responded that the challenge is to find investors and that the establishment of a "fund" takes a lot of time and resources. Because of that you should consider carefully whether it is profitable or not for you to start a "fund"....

Hotels and restaurants are important employers in Finland. Particularly in hotels and hotel restaurants, many different payment methods are possible and sales derive from several sources. For successful business it is critical to separate different payment methods and sales correctly and to account for value-added tax to the tax authorities on time. The aim of this thesis project was to create process flow charts of atypical payment methods used in hotels and restaurants for the client. The client is an accounting company which operates in Finland. The atypical payment methods that are covered in this thesis are invoicing, advance payment, room bill, package and gift voucher. The theoretical chapter of the thesis report examines cash systems, cash accounting, atypical payment methods and value added tax. Value-added tax is covered in general and moreover the special cases of the value added tax in hotel and catering business are reviewed. Also how the atypical payment methods affect to accounting value added tax is covered. Research methods used in this thesis were the semi-structured interview and observation and analysis of the material used in the accounting company. The material comprised cash reports from hotels and restaurants, account schemes and reports from enterprise resource planning. The thesis was implemented as a functional work and the end result of the thesis are the process flow charts for the client. The purpose of this thesis is to create a guide for the client, Organization X, for handling operational tasks related to interest subsidy loans, agricultural credits and State guarantees. The guide is issued for a specific team that operates in Organization X. The subject of this thesis and the functions related to it were new in the target organization and therefore the production operations were not in function in the early stages of the thesis process. The client found a need to produce proper guidance for employees to start the production and to ensure error-free operation. The thesis process is documented and represented in the thesis report. The report clarifies the baselines, purposes and the aims of this thesis. The report also presents the theoretical framework related to the topic and it explains the research methods that were used during the thesis process. Also the report includes an evaluation of the thesis process and specifies the development points that the client could improve in the future. The research method used in this thesis is case study research and the process was conducted accordingly. First the subject of the thesis was defined. The process continued by exploring the theoretical information and facts. The empirical stage was begun after exploring the theory. The completed guide was compiled on the basis of different working-based research methods. The guide’s implementation process was divided into three stages. During these stages the research data was collected and evaluated from the client’s perspective. The data was collected by using benchmarking which enabled to produce tentative guidelines for Organization X. The guidelines were verified by using observation in the authentic working environment. In the end the guide’s material was completed by carrying out a theme interview. The completed guide includes two parts. The purpose of this thesis was to conduct a guide for a new cash officers to help their orientation in Nordea. The need for this commission arose in spring 2016 when I was accomplishing my final internship in Nordea and some of the computer programs changed. Former orientation material existed but it needed an update. The material was also utilized inactively. Guide wanted to be clear, easy to read and also useful for the company. In the theoretical framework of the thesis different areas of orientation and learning methods are presented. In addition, different forms of orientation are dealt with. The theoretical framework is based on literature and internet sources of the field. The guide consisted of what I have learned at work, my own know-how and information that was received from the existing education material. In the guide the company’s internal material was also utilized. Therefore, the guide will not be published. The output of the functional thesis was a guide. Also older employees can benefit from it if necessary. The guide helps new employees to perceive the software better, because the bank has several computer programs. The overall image of using the programs is comprehended better with the guide. Updating the guide may become difficult because new software updates can occur often. It would be recommended that the guide is updated at least annually, or more frequently if several changes are published in the software....

Strateginen näkökulma digitaaliseen taloushallintoon : case: pieni tilitoimisto

Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli tutkia, miten digitaalinen taloushallinto vaikuttaa pieneen tilitoimistoon strategisesta näkökulmasta. Alaongelmana oli selvittää, millainen taloushallinnon ohjelmisto tukee digitaalisuutta, ja mitä ohjelmiston valinnassa tulee ottaa huomioon. Opinnäytetyön case-yrityksenä oli pieni tilitoimisto, joka tarjoaa asiakkailleen monipuolisia taloushallinnon palveluita aina lakisääteisestä kirjanpidosta talouskonsultointiin. Case-tilitoimisto käyttää Asteri -taloushallinto-ohjelmistoa eikä tarjoa asiakkailleen digitaalisia palveluita ainakaan toistaiseksi. Opinnäyte on laadullinen tapaustutkimus, jossa on piirteitä toimintatutkimuksesta, sillä olen tehnyt havainnoinut työskennellessäni case-tilitoimistossa. Opinnäyte perustuu aiheesta kirjoitettuun kirjallisuuteen, alan lehtiartikkeleihin, internetlähteisiin, aiemmin tehtyyn tutkimukseen sekä omiin kokemuksiin ja pohdintoihin aiheesta. Lähteiden valinnassa huomioitiin pienen tilitoimiston näkökulma.
Teoreettinen viitekehys koottiin strategiatyökalu Balanced Scorecardin ympärille. Teorian pääkappaleessa johdatetaan aiheeseen kertomalla muuttuvasta tilitoimistomaailmasta eli opinnäytetyön lähtökohdasta, sekä strategiaan liittyvistä käsitteistä ja yhteydestä digitaaliseen taloushallintoon. Alakappaleissa syvennytään Balanced Scorecardin mukaisiin teemoihin tarkemmin.
Opinnäytetyön case-osuudessa pohdittiin digitaalisia ja perinteisiä taloushallinnon työmenetelmiä case-yrityksestä laaditun SWOT- analyysin avulla. Tarkoituksena oli pohtia digitaalisen taloushallinnon etuja, haasteita, mahdollisuuksia ja uhkia Balaced Scorecardin neljästä näkökulmasta. Sen lisäksi kartoitettiin uusia ohjelmistoja, jotka tukisivat digitaalista taloushallintoa.
Lopputuloksena on kattava teoreettinen Balanced Scorecard strategiatyökaluun pohjautuva tietopaketti. SWOT-analyysit digitaalisesta taloushallinnosta vastasivat päätutkimusongelmaan ja ohjelmistovertailu alatutkimusongelmaan. Opinnäytetyön liitteenä on myös taloushallinnon ohjelmiston hinnoitteluesimerkki. Lopputuloksena case-tilitoimisto on saanut tietoa digitaalisuuden vaikutuksista pieneen tilitoimistoon. Lisäksi case-tilitoimisto on saanut tietoa digitaalisuutta tukevista taloushallinnon ohjelmistoista sekä käytössä olevan ohjelmiston, Asterin, kehitysehdotuksia....

Internal Communications in a Company Merger – Case Realco Oy The thesis was as a commission to a property management company Realco Oy. The original goal was to develop Realco’s internal communications, but in August 2015 Realco announced a merger with Realia Isännöinti Oy which changed the subject of the thesis. The focus was now on Realco’s employees and their satisfaction of internal communications before and during the merger. Additionally, the impact of the merger on the internal communications was studied. The goal was to find ways to improve the implementation of internal communications as well as to chart the employee adaptation during an organizational change. Theories on communications, internal communications and organizational change formed the theoretical framework of the thesis. The empirical data of the study consisted of a web survey for Realco’s personnel, an interview with a communications specialist and Realco’s communications materials regarding the merger. The thesis was conducted as a qualitative case study, which served the cause of studying the single case of the Realco-Realia Isännöinti Oy merger. The empirical data was analyzed with the methods of a theory-driven content analysis. The study provided answers to all the research questions set at the beginning of it. It showed that especially during an organizational change the management and the personnel may have remarkably different needs and expectations regarding communications. When the expectations are not met, dissatisfaction increases. Based on the results of the study, proposals were made on how to avoid the pitfalls mentioned in the study in the future. First and foremost there should be more face-to-face communication and personnel initiative....
