Opinnäytetyön toimeksiantajana toimi Knesa, joka tarjoaa liiketoiminnan ja markkinoinnin konsultointia, tekee myyntityötä sekä siihen liittyvää kehitys- ja valmennustyötä yrityksille. Toimeksiannot voivat olla esimerkiksi projekteja tai hankkeita, erilaisia myynnin, markkinoinnin tai viestinnän suunnittelua, kokonaiskuvasta aina suoraan kaupantekoon. Yritys tarjoaa erilaisia apukeinoja myös erilaisiin sponsorihankkeisiin ja yrityksen tarpeiden pohjalta suunniteltuun täsmävalmennukseen. Valmennukset ovat hyvin kokonaisvaltaisia, ja ne suunnitellaan aina asiakkaan omiin tarpeisiin.
Opinnäytetyöprojektin päätavoitteena oli tehdä selvitystyötä, kuinka toimeksiantajan tarjoama koulutuspalvelu voitaisiin kehittää uuden kohderyhmän tarpeisiin sopivaksi tuotteeksi sekä kuinka paketoitu palvelutuote voitaisiin lanseerata tälle kohderyhmälle eli toisen asteen ammatillisille oppilaitoksille sekä korkea-asteen oppilaitoksille. Tähän asti kyseisiä koulutuspalveluita on tarjottu yksityisille yrityksille. Tutkimus toteutettiin laadullisena tutkimuksena. Ennen käytännön kartoitusta ja ideointia työssä perehdyttiin tuotteistamisprosessiin teoriassa vaihe vaiheelta.
Tuotteistamisprosessissa lähdettiin liikkeelle asiakasongelman ratkaisemisesta, jonka jälkeen tuotetta lähdettiin kehittämään ongelmaan vastaavaksi, kohdennetuksi ratkaisuksi. Tuoteideaa lähdettiin kehittämään asiakasnäkökulmasta, jolloin varmistettiin tuotteen asiakaslähtöisyys ja asiakkaan tarpeisiin vastaaminen. Ensimmäinen vaihe oli jo olemassa olevan tuotteen kehittäminen eli sisällön ja tavoitteiden selkeyttäminen ja täsmentäminen aina kohderyhmä mielessä pitäen. Tämän jälkeen alettiin kartoittaa omaa sekä kilpailijoiden palvelutarjontaa ja suunnittelemaan toimintamuotoja.
Kohderyhmät ja niiden avainhenkilöt kartoitettiin toimeksiantajan toiveiden mukaisesti. Kohderyhmiä ovat muun muassa toisen asteen ammatilliset oppilaitokset ja korkea-asteen oppilaitokset Etelä-Suomen alueelta. Tietoja kerättiin muun muassa oppilaitosten verkkosivuilta. Sain ennen puhelinyhteydenottoja puhelinmyyntikoulutuksen Knesan tuotteiden myynnistä vastaavalta henkilöltä, sillä tein laajaa tarvekartoitusta ja tuotteen markkinointia puhelimitse. Puhelinkartoituksessa saadut kommentit raportoitiin tarkasti toimeksiantajalle. Tuotteen varsinaisen myyntityön hoitaa toimeksiantaja soittojen tulosten pohjalta laaditun etenemissuunnitelman perusteella.
Opinnäytetyö on tyypiltään toiminnallinen opinnäytetyö. Teoriaosuudessa käsitellään tuotteistamisen vaiheet ja hyödyt pääpiirteittäin sekä kuvataan tuotteistamisprosessia kokonaisuutena sekä sen konkreettisia tuotoksia, myös palvelujohtamisen näkökulmasta. Työn empiirinen osuus muodostui toimeksiantajan kanssa tiiviissä yhteistyössä tuotetusta käytännön kartoitus- ja kehitystyöstä. Kehitystyön tuloksena muodostui kolme räätälöitävää palvelupakettia, jotka soveltuvat uudelle kohderyhmälle sekä etenemissuunnitelma tuotteen myyntiä varten. Kaikki saadut kommentit kirjattiin tarkasti ylös, jotta toimeksiantaja voi halutessaan jatkaa palvelun kehittämistä tulevaisuudessa....

Horse industry: Influencing factors of profitability The horse industry is the only growing agriculture field in Finland and its influence will increase because of growing horse population. There are 75 000 horses in Finland and about 15 000 people are working with the horse industry. There are also hundreds of thousands of people whose lives have something to do with horses, there are more than 200 000 riders in Finland. The horse industry is known for its low profitability and low salaries. The work is both physically and mentally hard because it not only involves taking care of horses but also taking care of customers, who come to relax at the stables after long days at work. The simple meaning of profitability is that company’s income is higher than its expenses. The company can pay its bills and generate earnings for shareholders. The thesis research showed that profitability is a subjective issue, which is closely related to the goals shareholders have set for the company. If the main goal is to earn money profitability has a totally different meaning than if the goal is just to get a free hobby. A stable owner who wanted to earn a living by owning a stable felt that the business was unprofitable and those who just wanted to afford their hobby were relatively happy with the results. Concrete factors were searched through a literature review and research because I wanted to give something concrete for people who are trying to improve their level of profitability. There are ideas from people whose companies are profitable and also from the entrepreneurs who have not managed to get appropriate profits. The study also includes suggestions on how to improve profitability and cut the costs....

The purpose of the present thesis was to research how teenagers use the photo-sharing application Instagram. A second purpose was to understand how the youth behave when using the application and what kind of activity the service offers. The thesis was part of a collaborative project between Laurea University of Applied Sciences and Kurio Ltd. The project was commissioned is about what by the digital marketing media agency Kurio and was designed to provide new information on consumer behavior in the digital channels. The purpose of this thesis was to assist companies that might use Instagram in their marketing strategy. The theoretical framework reviews the concepts of social media and social network and discusses the Instagram service. The theoretical section of the thesis clarifies the contemporary relevance of this topic and addresses the question of why young people are an interesting target group. In this thesis project a qualitative research method has been used. During the empirical study nine young people who are living in the Helsinki metropolitan area in Finland were interviewed. Each of the young people use Instagram and they were interviewed about their behavior in Instagram using semi-structured theme interviews. The interviews examined how the young people use the service and the benefits they receive from it. The interviews were conducted in the spring of 2014. The results show that the young people use Instagram in particular to follow their friends’ lives. They update their own profile from time to time for the benefit of their friends. Instagram was used several times a day. A single use time is a quick glance at the homepage, showing the latest pictures. Instagram was not seen as a platform for discussion, as there are other services for discussions. Companies and brands will are followed with less interest; private persons are more interesting to teenagers....

The purpose of this thesis was to find reasons why there are so few women as partners in big law firms. I wanted especially to explore what factors promote women to become partners and what factors possibly hinder their career development towards partnership. Women leadership is a very broad topic so I decided to outline my research around four themes which are women’s stereotypical behavior, women’s and men’s equality in work life, personality and will as well as parenthood and family. I chose these themes because they are very familiar and part of everyone’s day to day life. This fact also helps the reader to understand the phenomenon easier. The study was divided into a theory section and an empirical section. For the theoretical part I used literature and articles related to my subject. The empirical part was executed as qualitative research and the material was gathered through theme interviews. I chose to interview seven people from which five were women and two were men. The interviews were themed beforehand according to the themes I selected for the study. Every interview was recorded and afterwards transcribed in order to analyze the results and make final conclusions. The results of the study showed that most crucial factor on the career path is the personality and will of the women. You have to be a true professional in your own field of expertise, ambitious, passionate and have a true spark for the job and of course have to be ready for hard work. Without these qualities you don’t have a chance to become a partner. Another significant factor was parenthood and family from the time consuming perspective. Maternity itself isn’t the problem, quite the opposite because motherhood can bring lot of useful things to work community and especially to leadership skills. Starting a family and running the everyday life takes time and resources and for some people combining a successful career and quality family life can be too hard. Thirdly important factor is women’s own stereotypical behavior. Women tend to stay in their comfort zone, because they are afraid of failure. Qualities like unnecessary exactness and diligence as well as modesty won’t improve the chances to become a partner or a leader. Women’s and men’s equality in attorney offices is going to the right direction but the change is slow. In my research the question of equality wasn’t a significant problem in women’s career development....

Corporate Enterprise Resource Planning Systems and their Integration Case:ResLog The purpose of this Bachelor's thesis was to find out what Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems ResLog’s partner companies use and what are the integration possibilities of these systems. In addition, another objective was to find out whether ResLog's project partner companies are interested in integrating their ERP systems with other companies. As competition between companies increases, the integration of ERP systems with other companies will also increase. Integration aims to improve a company's competitiveness and profitability, and create networks. The integration of ERP-systems makes it possible, for example to transfer information which is related to ordering goods, delivery, production and the acquisition of realtime data transfer between companies. The ResLog project is a cooperation project between Laurea University of Applied Sciences ltd, Technology Center TechVillan and the SYKLI Environmental School of Finland. The purpose of the project is to improve the cooperation in logistics between the companies in areas in Sahamäki Hyvinkää and Ilvesvuori Nurmijärvi. As part of this thesis, a survey was conducted among partner companies of the ResLog project. The ResLog project is cooperation between seventeen companies. The objective of the questionnaire was to clarify what kind of ERP-systems are used by the partner companies and are these companies interested in the possibility of integrating these ERP-systems with other partner companies. The survey was conducted as a qualitative study and a questionnaire tool from the SurveyMonkey website was used as an aid in making the survey. Basic information about ERP systems was presented in the theory part of the thesis. After presenting the results of the survey, more detailed information was presented concerning the different ERP-systems used by the partner companies. Information concerning the integration of the systems was collected via the internet and also by interviewing the sales persons of these systems. As a result of this thesis, it was discovered that all the EPR systems used by the respondent companies can be integrated with each other. Through the survey it became clear that the companies are not exactly willing to integrate their systems with each other, nor change their systems to a system used by another partner company. All of the respondent companies, however, would be willing to modify the uses of an ERP system, at least to some extent, in order to enhance cooperation between the companies....

The resources Laurea Business Ventures gives for entrepreneurship The objective of this thesis was to study what kind of resources Laurea Business Ventures (LBV)- degree programme in Laurea University of Applied Sciences Otaniemi unit gives for entrepreneurship. In this thesis entrepreneurship and learning methods were studied to help to analyze the LBV- degree programme at Laurea Otaniemi. The thesis was executed as a functional study. In the theoretical part of the thesis the fundamental topics are dealt with, such as learning methods, entrepreneurship and research methods. In the learning methods section the circumstances and practices in which a person has the best ways of learning are covered. Thereafter, the learning methods the theory of entrepreneurship is presented, i.e. what it is like to be an entrepreneur and how to establish a business. The company forms are also summarized. Information on entrepreneurship in Finland and the state of young entrepreneurs are also deal with in the thesis. Finally, the interview theory will be familiarized and the reasons why this research method was chosen as the thesis data collection method of the thesis are discussed. The research method in this thesis was an interview to highlight a different perspective in the study in addition to the theoretical sources. The interviews were conducted at Laurea Otaniemi for five business students who are currently or intend to become entrepreneurs. In the interview covered the students’ opinions about the school's approach and their own relationship towards entrepreneurship were charted. This thesis will be useful for the Laurea LBV- degree programme in its development process. The comments received from the students create an image of the current status of the degree programme and the areas of improvement, so it would serve students aiming to become entrepreneurs. The interviews indicated that the degree programme serves certain kind of students but there is a need for improvements, as well. The goal was to research, the kind of help they need to complete their productization projects. Microenterprises can achieve remarkable benefits through productizing. This study results can be used in creating professional service of productization to microenterprises and the aim was to get business needs implemention of productization projects. Based on the study results a decision is made to carry out the new service to expert service microenterprises. Researcher is working as an entrepreneur. The study consists of a theory section, which concerns the productization of expert services and on the other hand is the theory of new service development. The study was based on qualitative methods and theme interviews. Interviewees were selected in the productization event and there were ten professional entrepreneurs all functioning in different expert branches. One interviewee was CEO of the Development Centre Ltd. From the research results, it was found that the subjects of companies did not know how to describe or tell the company productization plans the content and the necessary resources such as time. Productization was announced as an necessary process and the process bringing benefits to business, but the implemention of productization will need external help. Know-how and time were the main reasons why they were not products to services. The same stated Ceo of the Development Centre. Companies need the most help to make the right service promise, to do different kinds of sales materials and to specify the service so that it would give value to their customers. The results of productization were mainly seen by interviewees. As a conclusion expert service microenterprises needed help according to their individual needs. With a new productization service to expert services could function so, that enterprises will get more sale and could reduce their costs. As a conclusion of this study it will be necessary to create a common model to productize expert services which could help entrepreneurs better recognize tasks in their productization....
