Blogi sisältömarkkinoinnin työkaluna : Case: Laurea
(Laurea-ammattikorkeakoulu, 2013)

Also the interview was supposed to tell what kind of extra value and challenges does multiculturalism bring to a working society. According to the results Russian employees are managed every day, are well oriented towards work and they use resources and time a bit more than normal. Everybody answered that they take the multicultural background into consideration and that is why they used more time and effort in communication and discussions. Most of them answered that they had feedback discussions regularly and when needed. Feedback is usually given face to face. In education they all react positively and are encouraged to do it. All development ideas were discussed with their bosses. Good and bad experiences they didn’t mention, except with the quality of the work and taking responsibility. These problems were taken care of by talking and more effective supervision of the work. In conclusion they can tell that everyday management is used with Russian speaking employees and they are given time. There are differences but it is being handled with conversations. Companies are ready to put the same effort with them as with any other employees. It is important that Russians travel to Finland more and more and that is why Finland needs more knowledgeable Russian speaking employees. There are employees who speak Russian, but they all don’t have the cultural know how. Good cultural and local business skills are mostly with those who have worked a long time and have had a long cooperation period. An interpreter is not always the best solution. Development issues are based on the result from the interviews mostly with work quality and its efficiency. Also taking responsibility is a bit unfamiliar concept for a Russian speaking employee if they are not in a manager’s position. To avoid these problems they should be dealt with before hiring and make sure that the person understands what the work requires and needs....

Marital property and legal inheritance status of widows : guide to Estonians couple who lives in Finland This thesis was made to learn more about Estonian and Finnish marital property and inheritance law from a widow’s point of view. My goal was to bring up differences and similarities between these two countries and where these differences come from. The theory part of my work was a good background for making my manual. The goal of my work was to make a functional manual for an Estonian couple, who would like to know more about The Finnish inheritance system. It is important to give this kind of information to Estonians, because there are so many Estonians who have permanent residence in Finland and do not know the procedure in Finland. They need information in the way they can understand it and combine new information to earlier information about Estonian inheritance law. A key source of my work was Estonian and Finnish marriage law and Code of inheritance. Also I used legal books and internet pages. From Estonian internet –pages I used Notarite Koda –page the most. In understanding more about marital assets I used Kägo Piret’s thesis. The result of my work is a practical manual. In the manual there is information about inheritance in Finland and what rights widows in Finland have. More value to my manual gives that I have written it in Finnish and in Estonian language. Regardless of the language with this manual Estonians should understand how heritage is distributed in Finland and what kind of rights widows have in inheritance....

Palkitsemisen ja motivaation yhteys luovuuteen
(Laurea-ammattikorkeakoulu, 2013)
The connection between reward, motivation and creativity Creativity and its origins have been researched considerably during the last century but there is still no complete consensus as to what actually causes creativity. A substantial amount is known about its birth mechanisms, from the micro scale of brain research to larger cultural and societal influences, but the different scientific camps have yet to come to an agreement on the larger patterns. In this thesis the present state of creativity research is briefly reviewed. In addition, factors contributing to a traditional work organization are outlined, and the extent to which creativity and creative work can be found in a work environment and the importance of this are investigated. While examining work communities, a link between motivation and creativity will be identified and the characteristics of a creative work environment established. Additionally, a real-world example of a creative and successful work environment in a small case study of a North-American software company, Valve Corporation, is examined. The company's history and its peculiar "flat" organizational structure are described and the way in which the everyday activities of the company reflect this organizational model and the reasons why this organization can be thought of as particularly creative are discussed. The research question addressed by the paper concerns the effect of the individual's work-tied payment on the quality and quantity of creativity. This is investigated by performing Guilford's creativity test with two different groups; one is rewarded by their own, individual performance, and the other is paid a fixed sum. The study will be compared to Toivanen's (2012) similar study which can also be thought of as the predecessor to this thesis. The results of the research suggest that the type of reward does not completely affect the quality of the results in this type of test. However, the different results, when compared to Toivanen's (2012) nearly similar test, indicate that an unlimited amount of time in a creative task helps in obtaining more of the desirable results, compared to a situation where time would be especially limited. All in all, a company's investment in creativity is very important in fields where the solutions to problems are strange and unequaled. In order to increase creativity a company has to invest in the autonomy of its workers, workers have to have the opportunity to develop in their skills and knowledge and the work itself must be worthwhile so that the motivation to do it comes from the workers themselves. What is especially destructive to creativity is constant instruction and control, the "carrots & sticks" type of reward and merit pay in a situation where the task is complex and the rules to solve it are unclear....
