This thesis investigates the reasons why certain products become so successful that people feel they must have them. These are the products that can be called a smash, one hit wonder or a fad. A common issue for such products is that they may be successful for only a very short duration. The thesis describes the characteristic qualities of such products and attempts to determine the point at which the product can be described a great success, and, in particular, how to predict whether the products will be successful. The thesis examines how to forecast the next hit product in the buying department. The purpose is to help the buyer to make better purchases. It is important to study this subject, because these hit products are very lucrative to the companies that sell them, but very hard to forecast beforehand. In their work, buyers should attempt to make the most efficient purchases and successfully respond to the customers’ constantly changing needs. By improving forecasting in the buying department, a buyer will achieve better results. The subject is studied by discussing the relevant literature and interviewing a buyer. The first chapter introduces the buyers’ job description and the purchasing process. By understanding the buyer’s daily tasks and the buying process, it is easier to identify ways to improve the forecasting of hit products. After that the thesis discusses more closely the nature and definition of the hit product, and how the choices people make about the products they choose defines them. The theory of forecasting was studied by using statistical procedures, but mostly in theoretical ways such as through observation, meaning that there is no data. The purpose of this qualitative research study is to better understand how hit products are forecasted at the moment in the buying department and how to develop the procedure. The research is conducted by interviewing a buyer using a semi-structured interview, with questions addressing the nature of successful products, their life cycle and forecasting. Forecasting hit products can be very difficult and sometimes even impossible. The most significant results of the thesis concern the importance of observation, and other theoretical ways that are used in forecasting. This thesis can be especially useful for those, who are planning to start a business in accounting and want to explore more deeply all the important matters concerning the process of founding a company. Planning a budgeting system : case: condominium administrator office According to an old Finnish saying well planned is half done. It reflects the importance of financial planning in securing success in the future. Purpose of the thesis was to create a budgeting system for a company that provides condominium- and financial administration. In addition a need to analyze company’s resources and future expectations to support strategic and tactical goals. So far the company has neither made concrete future planning nor set any operational or financial goals. Because of the changes happening in the local line of business, the company has recently experienced rapid growth that is expected to continue. Hence the need to start budgeting expenses and incomes, as well as predicting and tracking profitability. The goal was to draft a light budgeting system that includes relevant budgets and would be easy to implement also taking into account the company’s resources. Moreover the purpose was to analyze the company’s current resources as well as possible future threats and possibilities. One goal was to make setting and tracking the financial goals easier by offering appropriate key figures of profitability. The research method used in this qualitative thesis was case-study. Research material for the thesis was collected from open theme interviews that were conducted between the owner of the company and the researcher. The empirical part was compared to the theory based frame of reference and showed that the advantage of the budgeting to the company don’t really stray away from the results of earlier researches. Differences was shown in the budgeting tasks and in the number of necessary budgets. Budgeting will mainly be used to predict, plan and follow-up the company’s finances. For now budgeting will not be used as tool of authorization, control- or communication due to the company’s small size and low organizational hierarchy. Comparably the lack of operational implementation of budgeting, centralization of budgeting responsibility and the size of the company, the topics of critique in previous researches was not seen as a problem in this thesis....

Asiakirjajulkisuus vakuutusoikeudessa

Opinnäytetyössä tarkastellaan asiakirjajulkisuutta ja valitusasian etenemistä vakuutusoikeudessa. Erityisesti kiinnitetään huomiota asian julkisuuteen ja asianosaisen oikeuteen nähdä itseään koskevia asiakirjoja. Lisäksi opinnäytetyössä tuodaan esille syitä, miksi valitusasian käsittely vakuutusoikeudessa on osittain salaista.
Opinnäytetyössä käytetään oikeudellisina lähteinä lainsäädäntöä, lain esitöitä, oikeuskirjallisuutta sekä oikeustapauksia. Lisäksi tietopohjana toimivat vakuutusoikeuden omat työohjeet. Erilaiset verkkolähteet kuuluvat olennaisena osana opinnäytetyön aineistoon. Tiedonsaantitarkoituksessa on haastateltu myös vakuutusoikeuden tiedottajalakimiestä.
Opinnäytetyössä tarkastellaan ensin vakuutusoikeutta, sen toimintaa ja tehtäviä sekä sijoittumista Suomen tuomioistuinjärjestelmään. Tämän jälkeen siirrytään viranomaisten toimintaa ohjaaviin periaatteisiin. Viranomaistoiminnan julkisuus sisältää hallinnon julkisuutta ja vertailua yleisen tuomioistuimen ja hallintotuomioistuimen välillä. Lisäksi opinnäytetyössä kerrotaan asianosais- ja yleisöjulkisuudesta sekä asiakirjoista ja niiden julkisuudesta ja salassapidosta. Lopuksi kaikki oleellinen tiivistyy yhteenvetona, jossa pohditaan opinnäytetyötä prosessina....
