High School students and share saving The purpose of this thesis project was to study the interests and attitudes of senior high school students towards share saving and investing on stock markets. Specifically, the project focused on those factors that can discourage one person from starting long term share saving. This thesis was carried out to help Osakesäästäjien Keskusliitto, which is an alliance that takes care of stock investor’s rights and benefits. The alliance needed fresh information about the younger generation of Finns as investors. The Alliance could, for example, get precious data for marketing their services. The theoretical section examines financial literacy worldwide and locally here in Finland. Financial literacy is strongly relarted to a person’s general wealth. The importance of the subject is very clearly seen when looking at the poorer parts of any given country. Improvement in financial literacy is also improvement in happiness. Saving money is one aspect of good personal financial behaviour. The best interest rates over the years have almost always been in the stock markets. Profits of an investment grow through time by compound interest. Investing in savings does not need so much knowledge as is is often thought to be the case. Investing in stock markets is made easy today, because people can buy and sell stocks from anywhere with their phones. To collect the data easily and efficiently a survey was chosen as the main research method. At the beginning, the plan was to conduct the survey on students of many different schools. However, this proved to be harder than expected and the survey had to be made only with the students of Viherlaakso’s Upper Secondary School. On the other hand, even though the target group was a little smaller than expected, it was possible to survey whole classes of social studies students and therefore the survey could also reach those who are not so interested in investing and saving. The survey confirmed that young Finns think positively about investing in stock markets. Compared to international studies, the target group was slightly better in terms of their financial literacy. The students felt that investing is not relevant at this point of life. Even when students are interested in the subject of investing, a lack of practical knowledge can prevent students from actually starting to invest in shares. This thesis is a documentary summary of criminal law and especially crimes against property, violent crimes and intoxicant crimes. The target of this thesis is to open up criminal law and sentencing determination and what kind of things have an effect on it. The thesis can be support to those who are interested in law and for those who need help and knowledge about crimes and how their sentences are determined. At the beginning of thesis there is information about crimes and sentecing determination, statistics of crimes and other general knowledge. Next there is information on criminal law connected to specific aspects. Also elements of crimes against property, violent crimes and intoxicant crimes and after this there is a consideration of three crimes in three cases. In crimes against property there is a consideration of civil wrongs, in violent crimes a consideration of murders and in intoxicant crimes and drug related crimes. The purpose of considering individual cases is to give an understanding to the reader of concrete sentencing determination and sentencing customs. Through the cases it is easier to understand for example different elements of crimes and also, what is needed to take into account when determining a sentence. After these chapters there is a consideration of how crimes against property, violent crimes and intoxicant crimes have different elements and have sentencing differences. The final chapter in the thesis is a conclusions one. The conclusions of the thesis is that determination of a sentence is not unequivocal but there are the effects of many different points in the law, earlier sentences in the same crime and also other knowledge and material. Determination in sentencing can also harden and there are mitigating reasons, forgiveness and justification, moderate reasons, the equivalence principle, sentence scale, act’s harmfulness and dangerousness, guiltiness and sentence type. When court of law is giving a sentence, it considers and takes into account different things that have an effect....

Digital customer experience in talouselama.fi -service The assignment of this thesis was to study digital customer experience and customer satisfaction of the talouselama.fi -service users. The objective for the results of this thesis is to provide them for company use. The theoretical framework of this thesis consisted of two parts: development of digital media and how to build a digital survey. In the first theory I processed the concept of digital media and how it has developed in the past years. I also looked at how the process of customer experience takes form in a digital environment. In the second theory part I wrote about the process of a survey and I focused mostly on how to build a digital survey. I also wrote about quantitative research in which my thesis can be classified. In my thesis I made a digital survey in which I resolved how the customers experience the talouselama.fi -service. Talouselama.fi -service is a digital news service and it was launched in the autumn of 2017. Talouselama.fi -service belongs in the Alma Talent product family, which includes many business and investment magazines. I made the survey digitally, using a survey platform called Questback and sent the link to the survey to a target group consisting of only active users of the service. I send the link in March of 2018 to 2227 users and got 279 answers back. The survey response rate was 12,5 %. Concerning the results of the survey, the users were mainly satisfied about the content of the service and they thought that the service worked well. According to the results, ordering and paying the service online and registration as a new user was easy. Also, the customer service was helpful for those who needed help with the process. Most of the users would recommend the service to their colleagues and friends. The most important development suggestion is to develop the talouselama.fi -service’s app. According to the results of the survey, most of the users use the service on the internet browser of their choice. Another important development suggestion is for the telemarketers to be more clear with their sales speeches. Especially on how to activate the talouselama.fi -service and how to register as a new user. According to the results, almost half of the customers said that the information during telemarketing was unclear....

The subject of this thesis project is the selection criteria used by young mutual fund investors. The goal of the thesis is to examine the factors and criteria that are influencing the process of young investors in selecting mutual funds. People investing in mutual funds can base their selection on many different types of criteria. The process leading to this selection and the factors influencing this decision is explained and studied in this thesis. In the first part of the theoretical section mutual funds are explained, including the types of mutual funds that are available and how the funds function, as well as how the price of a fund unit is determined. In addition, the pros and cons of mutual funds are presented together with different indicators that help in the process of evaluating the risks, returns and overall performance. The second part of the theoretical section addresses the purchasing behavior of mutual fund investors and the factors influencing the investment decision as well as an explanation of what selection criteria actually are. In this section are the most common and important criteria when selecting a mutual fund are clarified. Different criteria vary from hard data based criteria such as returns, risks and costs to softer approach criteria such as advertisement or the ethicality of a fund. The empirical part of the thesis report presents different research methods and provides an explanation for the selection of the research method of this thesis. This part also reviews the subject, tools and definition of this thesis. Also the research survey form and questions are presented along with the original assumptions of this thesis. Furthermore, reliability and validity are explained on a general basis and also concerning this specific study. This study, which addresses the question of what the selection criteria of the young mutual investors are, was carried out as a quantitative survey. The study was executed with a questionnaire which was replied by 83 persons under the age of 35 who have made investments in mutual funds. According to the results, it can be stated that the recommendation of an investment advisor is not a very important criterion to young mutual fund investors. On the other hand, a considerable proportion of the respondents felt that their own assessment was an important factor when making a mutual fund selection. Based on the results the young mutual fund investors pay a lot of attention to the expenses of mutual funds. It can also be said that historical returns are important in the selection process. Worth noticing also is the fact that advertising played a remarkably small role in the decision making of young mutual fund investors....

The purpose of this thesis was to find out what kind of intangible values the members of Design Club have received as being a part of this networking community. The aim was the desire to help developing Design Club’s operation. In the theoretical background the operation of Design Club was introduced and operation related concepts were opened for the readers. These concepts included design and how to utilize design in companies, business networking and intangible value forming. The study was carried out as a quantitative survey and the material was collected with an electronic questionnaire from all the contact persons of the company members of Design Club. The objective of the material produced by the survey was to obtain information about the forming of intangible value as Design Club member. Forming of value was approached by clarifying how the company experienced the development of the intangible capital factors through Design Club membership. Company’s objectives and motives for development of different intangible capital factors were also studied. In the study the Design Club operation was regarded as significant for the development of the factors of relationship capital and of human capital. It was experienced likewise that also the factors of relationship capital and of human capital had alredy developed with the help of the Design Club operations. The results of the study showed that the objectives of companies and the operation of Design Club met each other very well. The assumption, however, was that service and product development could have been more significant to the respondent group than the results showed it to be. However, the response rate was not sufficient to allow generalization of the results regarding the whole target group. Thus the results must be interpreted as indicative....

Toimintaohje opiskelijaosuuskunnan jäsenille : case: Opiskelijaosuuskunta Hykerrys

Opinnäytetyön toimeksiantajana toimi Hyria koulutus Oy. Hyria koulutus Oy:n toivomuksena oli, että opinnäytetyössä toteutetaan toimintaohje MOTIVE-Monialainen tiimiyrittäjyysverkosto -hankkeessa perustettavan opiskelijaosuuskunnan jäsenten käyttöön. Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli tutkia osuuskunnan toimintaa ja vertailla keskenään työ-, laskutus- ja opiskelijaosuuskuntia. Lisäksi tavoitteena oli kertoa miten opinnäytetyön tulos eli toimintaohje on tehty. Opinnäytetyön avulla Hyrian opiskelijaosuuskunnan jäsenet ja siitä kiinnostuneet pystyvät paremmin hahmottamaan mitä osuuskunnat ovat ja miten ne toimivat.
Opinnäytetyö jakautuu kahteen osaan: teoreettiseen ja toiminnalliseen. Tietoperustan aluksi kerrotaan yleisesti osuuskunnasta ja sen perustamisesta. Tämän jälkeen kuvaillaan osuuskunnan jäsenyyttä, hallintoa ja rahoitusta. Lisäksi tietoperustassa tarkastellaan työosuuskuntaa ja laskutusosuuskuntaa sekä perehdytään opiskelijaosuuskuntaan.
Toiminnallinen osuus koostuu MOTIVE-hankkeessa perustettavan opiskelijaosuuskunnan toimintaohjeen prosessin kuvauksesta. Prosessin kuvauksen tavoitteena on selventää, miten toimintaohje on luotu. Toimintaohje laadittiin yhteistyössä toimeksiantajan kanssa toisen osuuskunnan toimintaohjeen pohjalle. Toimintaohjeesta selviää Hyrian opiskelijaosuuskunnan jäsenille, kuinka osuuskunnassa toimitaan. Ongelmakohdiksi muodostuivat taloushallinto, vakuutukset, avainten ja kulkuoikeuksien luovutus sekä työskentely Hyrian tiloissa ilta-, viikonloppu- ja loma-aikoina. Kolmen viimeisen kohdan selvittämisen apuna käytettiin muita opiskelijaosuuskuntia, joihin oltiin yhteydessä puhelimitse ja sähköpostitse. Niistä saatuja tuloksia käytettiin toimintaohjeen laatimisen apuna.
Toimintaohjeen prosessin kuvauksesta tulee hyvin ilmi, miten toimintaohje on toteutettu ja keitä sen tekemisessä on ollut mukana. Toimintaohje on hyvin rakennettu ja se tulee varmasti olemaan Hyrian opiskelijaosuuskunnan jäsenten apuna heidän aloittaessaan osuuskuntatoiminnan vuoden 2018 alussa. Toimintaohjetta pystytään varmasti vielä kehittämään osuuskunnan jäsenten toimesta, kun he pääsevät konkreettisesti käyttämään sitä osuuskunnassa toimiessaan....

Labour law gives more information to working life This study’s purpose is to give more information about the basics of labour law for students. There are two parts to this study. The first part is about labour law and the second part of this study is concerned with social media legislation. Also this study is based on co-operation with Sometaduuniin.fi. Anna Nykänen is a leader of Sometaduuniin.fi at Laurea University of Applied Sciences. Sometaduuniin.fi contains three goals for students. The first goal is to make sure that students and employers will meet each other smoothly using the internet the second is to guarantee that students will have better skills of using the internet when using assignments or applying for jobs. The third and final part of this project is to strengthen skills of using the internet when applying assignments at the University of Applied Sciences. The other goals for the project are to ease the hiring processes. In my study I have gone through the basics of labour law such as ; the employment relationship, terms of employment, absences and leaves, pension system, working time, annual holidays, working environment, social security and a decrease in the amount of work. The main and most important legislation within this study is the Employments Contract Act 55/2001 and the Collective Agreements Act 436/1946. In part two of this study I go through social media legislation and the responsibilities concerning its use at work or at home and this study has also specific chapter on social media as a topic. The research method of this study is juridical. I have used to do this study; up to date labour law literature, legislation, regulations and articles. This legislation is also used throughout this study. This study’s aim is to give information about labour law and legislation to students. Also it is important that students understand their rights and obligations that the terms of employment will bind them to. It is also important to know how to behave in working life and to accept all the regulations which are part of it. As a result of this study I have produced a legal guide for students. This guide also handles the most basic information about labour law for example employees and employers rights and obligations, pension system and terms of employment. This thesis was initiated by Vantaan Tulkkikeskus Oy, and it discusses customer satisfaction. The objective of this thesis was to study the order process of the interpreting services and renewed web pages. The objective also was to suggest improvements in the activities of Vantaan Tulkkikeskus Oy and to look for the solutions in them. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with customer satisfaction including its forming and measuring. The data consisted of literature which is related to customer satisfaction and survey. The authors also used internet sources. The survey was carried out in March 2018. The research was done as a quantitative questionnaire inquiry and used survey as a research method. The authors chose to use an e-questionnaire and received in total 81 answers. The results were analyzed with SPSS program and the authors presented figures in Excel. Based on the results, it can be concluded that customer satisfaction in Vantaan Tulkkikeskus Oy is mostly good as regards the interpreters’ services and professional knowledge. Vantaan Tulkkikeskus Oy renewed their web pages in 2017 and the web pages were clearer and easier to use in 2018. The authors presented new employee induction material for interpreters and the marketing of interpreting services where the customer can contact the interpreter directly as a development proposal....
