Motivation of personnel for new working method as challenge to leadership The subject of this thesis is the motivation of personnel for a new working method. The case organization is Finnair Shared Services which if part of Finnair Group. In Finnair Shared Services, new software called Tuntinetti was implemented for the purpose of follow-up of working hours to support internal invoicing in Finnair Group. However the good idea has not succeeded as expected and the project partly failed. The implementation of new software requires that people change their working methods. Personnel can be motivated by using methods of management of change. The theory section discusses how individuals react to change, what the phases of change are and how management of change can lead to successful implementation. The theory brought out particularly the importance of confidential atmosphere and interactive communication in work community throughout the change process. The purposes of the thesis were to find out the factors that influenced the failure in implementation of Tuntinetti software and to find solutions how to increase and accelerate the usage of it. The empiric research was executed as quantitative inquiry to the entire personnel of Finnair Shared Services in December 2011. The research results indicate that if the purpose of new working method is not completely assimilated in the work community the change fails to come true. From Tuntinetti’s point of view it is important to understand the purpose of internal invoicing. This is clearly missing. The research results verify that personnel feel that several changes had been done in their work community already before the Tuntinetti project. We also noticed that the changes in the organization at the same time of Tuntinetti project had negative influence on the implementation. It can be said that it is extremely important to choose the right time for change. Because time is money the follow-up and control of it are part of cost control. We observed that when used efficiently Tuntinetti can be a good tool to support internal invoicing. Additionally it could be used more widely to lead processes....

Yhdysvaltain finanssikriisin ja euroalueen velkakriisin yhtymäkohdat

Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena on selvittää Yhdysvaltain finanssikriisin ja euroalueen velkakriisin välisiä yhtymäkohtia. Tutkielmassa selvitetään ne tekijät, jotka vaikuttivat Yhdysvaltain finanssikriisin syntyyn ja verrataan niitä euroalueen velkakriisin synnyttäneiden tekijöiden kanssa. Lisäksi opinnäytetyössä tarkastellaan Kiinan vaikutusta kriisien taustalla, sekä sitä, millaisia vaikutuksia kriiseillä on ollut Kiinaan.
Opinnäytetyö toteutettiin kvalitatiivisena kirjallisuuskatsauksena, jota varten perehdyttiin laajasti alan kirjallisuuteen sekä aihetta käsitteleviin sähköisiin julkaisuihin. Oleellisena lähdemateriaalina käytettiin myös elokuvaa.
Työn teorialuvut pohjustavat kirjoituspöytätutkimuksena toteutettua empiiristä osuutta. Ensimmäisessä teorialuvussa tarkastellaan rahoitusjärjestelmiä sekä markkinoiden toimintaa. Lisäksi luvussa esitellään historiallisia kriisejä. Opinnäytetyössä esitellään myös Nobelpalkitun
Paul Krugmanin teoriaa finanssikriisin noidankehästä. Empiiriset osiot käsittelevät Yhdysvaltain finanssikriisiä, euroalueen velkakriisiä, Kiinan positiota kriiseissä sekä kriisien yhteneväisyyksiä ja eroavaisuuksia.
Tutkimuksen tuloksena voidaan todeta, että Yhdysvaltain finanssikriisin ja euroalueen velkakriisin välillä oli yhtymäkohtia. Yhdysvaltain finanssikriisin voidaan opinnäytetyön tutkimuksen valossa pitää euroalueen kriisin käynnistäneenä tekijänä. Tulokset osoittavat myös, että Kiinalla oli merkittävä rooli Yhdysvaltain finanssikriisin taustalla. Vastaavanlaista merkittävää roolia euroalueen velkakriisiin ei kuitenkaan tutkimuksessa havaittu.

The purpose of this thesis was to assess how the member services of The Finnish Association of Landlords should be developed. The member services represent an essential part of the overall value produced for the members of the association. It is important to develop these services, as high-quality services have a direct effect on the number of members and mem-ber satisfaction. The objectives of this thesis were to survey which services are used the most and how the services have been experienced. The survey was conducted from the point of view of the members. In the theoretical section, essential concepts related to association activity are presented. In addition to defining the term association and discussing the special characteristics of associations this section describes the most important member services offered by associations and shows how the services affect member satisfaction. The sources that were used include information from the Internet and literature related to association activity. The empirical research was conducted as a quantitative survey, which attempted to establish how the members have experienced the services of the association. A question-naire was sent to all the members of the association in November 2011. There were 4702 persons in the membership register at the moment of transmission and 1083 members responded, giving a response rate of 23 %. On the basis of the results it can be inferred that the members were very satisfied with the services of the association. The services which are related to counseling and informing were considered to be the most important services. The majority of the interviewees did not ex-press hope for more member services; but rather preferred that attention be paid to the quality of the services. According to the results the most important targets for development were information channels such as the web pages of the association. The number of services was considered sufficient, but some members were not aware of all the services and benefits that are available to members. With improvements in notification and web pages, members would become more informed about how to utilize all the services for members. Once these improvements in the information channels are made, another survey would be needed to investigate how the changes have affected member satisfaction....

Anttila department store chain customer satisfaction survey Thesis was customer satisfaction survey in Sello and Itäkeskus Anttila and they were also compared. Itäkeskus Anttila is the largest of the Anttila department store in the metropolitan area, so that’s why it was interesting to compare. Customer satisfaction survey was the aim to obtain information from their clients what they think about the department stores, as well as their products and them quality. The survey was carried out on paper version, which was set to a central location in both stores for about two weeks. Motivated to respond we used to product gift package. Results were analyzed using Microsoft Excel and SPSS program, which was made on the basis of illustrative diagrams. Results were also sent to both stores for information. Results of the survey revealed that customer service in both houses is fairly good, and sales persons are willing to help clients. There is lack of staff in both stores. The largest potential is development of quality products and better customer service. The majority of respondents wanted more sales persons to help and also more cashiers. As a conclusion the results showed that the customer service and staff availability are the key points if you want to stand out from the competition....

The main idea behind this thesis is finding out to which extent Finnish consumers are ready to adopt NFC-mobile payment system. Theory of social psychology is the main theoretical framework that is used in the study. The main objective of the theory is to predict human behavior. Predictions are made on the notion of attitudes that people have towards a specific behavior. The current state of NFC-technology and future predictions were also taken into consideration while making the thesis. In order to make accurate and objective predictions current state of mobile payment market has also been analyzed. Research was contacted by using quantitative research methods. Information was gathered partly by using questions that were constructed on the basis of the theoretical framework and partly by using demographical questions. Questions that are made on the basis of the theoretical framework are meant to give objective predictions regarding the adaptation of NFC-mobile payment technology. Where as demographical questions have a soul purpose of identifying possible consumer groups. The survey was made via the Internet. Survey was sent to 350 students that are currently studying in Laurea University of applied sciences. The survey managed to accumulate 115 answers. Based on the results from the survey roughly half of those who answered are ready to adopt NFC-mobile payment technology. Main issue is that most of the participants have safety concerns in regards towards the mobile payment systems security. Supporting Management Personnel in Controlling Sickness Absences This Bachelor’s thesis discusses the control of sickness absences and the support of work ability and the superior’s work related to them. First, the topic is examined in the theory section where both electronic and written sources were used. The central themes are management, controlling sickness absences, work ability and work welfare. When discussing the work ability and work welfare the main focus is in the interfaces which are related to sickness absences. The goal in the theory section was to find out how work ability and work welfare are reflected to sickness absences, how sickness absences should be controlled and managed in companies and how the information on sickness absences should be handled. The other questions the theory section tried to answer were how the returning back to work from sick leave should be supported and what the role is of the occupational health care in all of this. The roles of work ability and work welfare related to the amount of sickness absences are significant. Controlling sickness absences and its management are also essential aspects in running a company. Sickness absences have a big role in the productivity and the results of the company so it is very important to invest in keeping them at a low rate. However the control should be transparent and consistent and also clearly justified to the employees. Based on the theory this thesis examines the model of the equal treatment of employees in controlling sickness absences and supporting work ability in company x. The perspective of the survey is the superior’s work so it is conducted with an electrical questionnaire to the selected group of superiors at company x. The goal of the survey was to find out if the model has supported superiors in the management of sickness absences and work ability, in which parts the model works as it should work and in which parts it should be improved in superiors’ opinion. According to the results of the survey the model is functional and suitable in principle but in practice the superiors found it somewhat too difficult to use. It has made the management of the sickness absences easier but especially the instructions for maintaining the work ability are not very practical and easy to use. In the thesis improvement ideas are given based on the superiors’ wishes. In the future the model could be for example divided in to two parts. The practical part about controlling the sickness absences could be one part and the more abstract part of improving work ability could be another. That would make it easier for the superiors to perceive which instructions to use in which situation and what the best methods would be....

To become a millionaire with individual retirement account? When individual retirement account enters the market in 2010, it has not received approval. The general discussion has been negative. The whole idea of the long-term retirement account is that everyone is responsible for their own pension. Nowadays it’s depending on the service provider is it possible to invest in shares, funds, ETFs (Exchange-traded fund), index-linked bonds and bonds. This thesis deals with young people prepare for retirement times, as well as long-term saving and investing. This thesis presents the Finnish pension system for the future and points the issues that the income level does not drop so much after working career. The idea behind the work is to awake young adults age of 25 - 35 years to start saving for retirement. Purpose of the thesis was to determine the retirement account possibilities and dig into the matter especially that the long-term saver would be a millionaire by the retirement age. Work includes calculations each of which can be tailored for the voluntary pension saver. The calculations leave the presumption that the saver put one big amount to the account and start investing age of 25, 35 and 45. Idea of this is reach a million Euros before the age of 65. In the second calculation is transferred to the account each month the same amount that would achieve the million Euros and the third calculation I’ve used maximum amount a month (410 Euros) which justify the yearly 1500 Euros tax support and expresses the accounts potential to give few more millions for the saver. The calculations can also be found with several different capital income taxes and assuming that the possible changes have also been clarified. In this retirement account was notable the phenomenon of compound interest and the efficiency of the tax support and of course on the saving time exemption of taxes. Tax free opportunity noticed very useful especially for novice investors when they do not need to think about tax point of view on the sale of investments and exchange. Only the fluctuations of the market economy require monitoring. This long-term saving account is the most profitable of the retirement saving products. PS account is tied to the statutory retirement age so it is useless to compare it other types of savings. Pension savings are simply intended to be lifted until retirement age so it would be necessary to save the funds for a shorter horizon separately. Invest the saving funds is the only realistic way to prosper. The studies showed that the account is not able only a million it has considerable potential for more. Started saving at age 25 it is possible withdraw around 18 500 euro (net.) per month pension for 20 years. The studies showed also that the taxation uncertainties are not great importance. Already the tax supports profit is so enormous that even under worst-case scenario of 50 per cent capital tax isn’t a major loss.
