Expert assisted judicial mediation : case: the District Court of Espoo The District Court of Espoo is one of four district courts which experiment the expert assisted judicial mediation in matters with regard to custody, visiting rights and maintenance of a child (the so-called Follo-model) in 2011 and 2012. The other three district courts are the District Court of Helsinki, the District Court of Pohjois-Karjala and the District Court of Oulu. The purpose of my thesis is to evaluate the experi-ences and results of this experiment in the District Court of Espoo. Usually it takes a long time before a district court is able to make a decision in a matter concerning a child. The situation remains unresolved which is harmful for the child and the parents. Often one of the parents is not satisfied with the decision and submits an appeal in the court of appeal which means that it will take years to reach the final decision. The purpose of the expert assisted judicial mediation is to cut down the time it takes to handle a dispute in the district court, and to reach a decision that both parties are ready to accept and thus stabilize the child’s life. In order to make this happen and further the mediation, psychologists and/or social workers take part in the mediation process and offer their expertise. This two-year experiment is carried out with the means provided in the act on mediation in civil matters and confirmation of settle-ments in general courts (394/2011). My thesis consists of two main parts. The first part is about the theoretical back-ground of the court proceedings and judicial mediation in the matters concerning a child. The second part is an analysis of the judges and experts’ opinions of the exper-iment in the District Court of Espoo. I have gathered their opinions via e-mail and personal interviews....

This thesis is a critical essay exploring two issues concerning the Stability and Growth Pact. The first is a study of the influence that the two mutual debt-limits have from an individual member country´s point of view. The second issue concerns the relationship between supranational monetary policy and national economic policy. The Stability and Growth Pack is contract between member countries in the European Union, originally signed in Maastricht in 1992. Its purpose is to maintain economic stability and prevent a negative balance in public finance by encouraging fiscal discipline in member nations. The main tasks of the Stability and Growth Pact are to set limits for public finance, supervise the process and if necessary penalize for default. The monetary policy is led and controlled by the European Central Bank (ECP), which is an independent and supranational institution. The main task of the ECP is to maintain price stability and reasonable levels of inflation through the resources of monetary policy. In turn, economic policy is controlled nationally and separately by individual member countries. According to modern theories of economics, the most effective way to support economic growth is through the harmonisation of monetary policy and economic policy. At the present time it is extensively reported that the current Stability and Growth Pact has not succeeded. The main objective of this thesis is to provide a rational and reasonable way to simplify com-plicated issues for the ordinary citizen and voter. The thesis draws two conclusions. Firstly, there is friction in competitiveness between individual member countries that weakens competitiveness in Europe as a whole. A second conclusion is to question the European Central Bank´s ability to contribute to economic growth from single member country´s point of view....

Vuokrahenkilöstön työmotivaatioon vaikuttavat tekijät motivaatio-hygieniateorian näkökulmasta
(Laurea-ammattikorkeakoulu, 2012)
Linjaus on johtanut muun muassa epätavallisten työsuhteiden yleistymiseen. Vuokratyön käytön...
Job factors based on motivation-hygiene theory influencing the work motivation of temporary personnel In recent years new forms and ideologies of work have gradually shaped the labor market and working life. This is evident in the increase in the number of employees working irregular hours and the growing trend to employ temporary workers, especially from among the youth. Temporary work differs from conventional forms of employment in that it consists of three contract parties and two legal contract relations. One party in these contractual relations is always the temporary work agency that concludes the subscriber agreement with the client and the employment contract with the temporary employee. This study examines the phenomenon of temporary employment focusing on work motivation. The purpose of the study is to identify the job factors that significantly influence the work motivation of temporary employees. The review is guided by Herzberg’s (1959) motivation-hygiene theory, which divides job factors according to the work environment and the work itself. In this study job factors or motives are further divided between the temporary work agency and the client company. In temporary work, traditional employership takes on a new form and the employer is a different entity than the actual work place. The target group of this study comprises employees from a temporary work agency, VARA-APU Henkilöstöpalvelut Oy, which supplies temporary workers to businesses in the grocery trade. The study was implemented as a quantitative study and data were collected via an electronic survey. The sample numbered 210 temporary employees, which represented half of the target group. Therefore the loss of respondents was 50 percent. The analytical methods used included linear regression and correspondence analysis. The results indicate that seven different job factors have a significant influence on the work motivation of temporary employees. In terms of the work itself, expectations, received merits and meaningful work content align the employees’ work motivation. Furthermore, salary, workload, working conditions and the employees’ position in the work community affect this motivation as aspects of work environment. Results show that the attitude towards these factors was mainly favorable. According to the regression analysis these factors either increase or decrease work motivation. In addition, the correspondence analysis showed that temporary workers, who reacted positively to these factors, considered their work motivation to be good. In turn those who reacted negatively to the factors, considered their motivation to be weak. It is essential to take these job factors into consideration because they strongly influence work commitment and work performance through the variability of the work motivation level....

Ennakkoluulojen huomioiminen uuden segmentin luomisessa päivittäistavarakauppamarkkinoille : Case: L’Oréal Paris Elvital hiusöljyjen lanseeraus
(Laurea-ammattikorkeakoulu, 2012)
Opinnäytetyö laadittiin L’Oréal Finlandin päivittäiskosmetiikka–segmentin, eli CPD:n, Hair care and Styling –tiimin tuotepäällikölle Aleksi Miikkulaiselle, jonka siirryttyä toisiin tehtäviin työn ollessa vielä kesken, vaihtui ohjaajaksi yrityksen osalta Natalia Pawlikowska.
Opinnäytetyö selvitti kuluttajien ennakkoluuloja hiusöljyjä kohtaan sekä kuinka niitä olisi mahdollista muuttaa markkinoinnin keinoin. Esimerkkituotteena opinnäytetyössä olivat L’Oréal Paris Elvital Extraordinary Oil -hiusöljyt, joiden lanseerauksen Suomen markkinoille on määrä tapahtua syksyllä 2012.
