This thesis was commissioned by a massage entrepreneur. As the company perceived its most significant challenges to be lack of recognition and insufficient customers, it was decided that a marketing plan would benefit the company the most. The thesis consists of a theoretical section, a research section and a functional section. In the theoretical section the concepts of marketing plan and service marketing are discussed. A Marketing plan includes a situation analysis, which consists of several methods of analysis, such as customer analysis, competition analysis, PESTE (political, economical, social, technological and ecological) analysis and SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) analysis. A related concept is the marketing mix which includes such factors as personal selling, advertising, promotion and public relations. In the functional section a marketing plan was prepared for the company. The plan included a situation analysis and marketing mix. The SWOT analysis summarizes the main points of the sit-uation analysis. The most important conclusions were that despite the recession and its low market budget the company can succeed by distinguishing itself from its competitors through personal training service and excellent customer service. A qualitative method was used in the research. Research data was collected through interviews and benchmarking. The target company’s entrepreneur and one other massage entrepreneur were interviewed for the study. Questions in the interviews concerned basic information about the company, service marketing and the industry. After the interviews the companies’ policies and especially marketing activities were compared. The conclusions were that the entrepreneur should focus on marketing to stimulate the company’s growth and success. The biggest differences between the two entrepreneurs were in the areas of personal selling and marketing focus and planning. The target company’s entrepreneur has not invested sufficiently in marketing and planning it, while the other entrepreneur had acquired a lot of new customers by conducting marketing campaigns and personally selling the service. The development proposal offered to the entrepreneur is a simple plan which is easy to carry out following the instructions which are based on the conclusion that the entrepreneur should focus more on personal selling and advertising. In particular, the entrepreneur should prepare adequately for the selling situation and provide satisfactory customer service. From the perspective of advertising, it was recommended that the company distribute flyers and advertise through its Facebook page. A follow-up chart was also created which is intended to help the entrepreneur, whose help entrepreneur monitor the number of weekly customers. The effect of different marketing actions on the number of customers and visitors at company’s homepage can also be monitored using the follow-up chart....

Introduction Project of Enterprise Resource Planning System Different information systems are a necessity for today’s companies. They have brought many benefits such as cost-efficiency and the easier development of new products and services. There is no going back because of the fact that the companies have become dependent on the information systems’ benefits. Enterprises have to constantly invest in new information systems to keep up with the competition, not to mention the possible desires to grow their business. The acquisition and introduction of a new information system is a complicated process and it takes a lot of resources. The easiest way to get it done is to do it as a project. Projects have a certain structure that is constantly striving forward and making the achievement of the set goals a lot easier. Projects are always unique and they have an explicit beginning and end. The type of the project determines the type of goals that are going to be set. In-house development project, research project, delivery project, execution project, construction project, and the development project of a new product all have their characteristics and they all require different procedures. There are many theories on how to segment the different stages of a project but they all have the same feature that they follow each other. This thesis is based on a theory that segments projects into five stages. Those stages are the recognition of the demand, definition, planning, execution and ending. The stages are to be performed in order but if the project is not going forward because of the mistakes done in previous stages, it is possible to go back and fix them. Each stage is important and the neglect of one stage greatly increases the risk of extra costs or stretching of the schedule. In worst cases the whole project might fall through. The essential parts of a project can be demonstrated by so called project triangle. It consists of three parts: The budget, schedule and the requirements. If one of these changes for some reason, it affects at least one if not two other parts of the triangle immediately. These are some of the facts that are included in this thesis’ theory section. It is used as a base for personal experiences in Berling Capital Ltd.’s QlikView project launched in year 2010. Based on theories and personal experiences a project analysis is made in which the project theories are compared to a real life project....

Close food: the challenges and opportunities from producers’ and consumers’ perspective in western Uusimaa The purpose of the research was to find out how did the close food producers’ actions meet the consumers’ wishes in the western Uusimaa. Another purpose was to find out what kind of differences in view the producers and the consumers have, and how did the shop keepers attend to the producers’ and consumers’ wishes. The theoretical frame included the concept of close food. Also, the consumer behavior and marketing was dealt with through the changes in the world’s food culture from the perspective of close food. The practical research was implemented in three phases. The quantitative student survey using Learning cafe method was carried out in the first phase. The second phase was the consumer survey, which included quantitative and qualitative research. The first two phases were part of the Sustainable Development From Close Food project. The third phase was put into practice as a qualitative research in the form of theme interviews. The results showed that close food producers’ actions did not fully meet the consumers’ wishes in the area of western Uusimaa. The research showed that people would like to buy close food from their local shop, but the concept of close food was not established and it was understood in many different ways. The shop’s close food can be produced locally, but transported around for hundreds of kilometers. The producers and the consumers were seemingly in an understanding, but in practice the sellers could work from many different starting points. The consumers, producers and the sellers saw close food as a positive thing, but in practice close food might involve non-ecological methods of growing, production and logistics solutions. As a suggestion for further research came up the need for general further research on the concept of close food and the ways for mutual marketing. On top of that, the determining of direct sales opportunities was also presented as one of the important further research topics....

Lainsäädäntömuutosten vaikutukset pikaluottoyrityksiin
(Laurea-ammattikorkeakoulu, 2012)
Tutkimuksen kohteena olivat kolmen pikaluottoyrityksen toimitusjohtajat. Tutkimusaineisto kerättiin puhelimitse haastattelemalla.
Haastatteluista ilmeni, että positiivisen luottorekisterin perustaminen on vältämätöntä, mikäli pikaluottoyritysten asiakkaiden luottokelpoisuuden arviointia halutaan parantaa. Lakiesityksessä ehdotettu korkokatto tukahduttaisi todennäköisesti pikaluottoyrityksen ydinliiketoiminnnan, jolloin suurin osa alan yrityksistä joko siirtyisi toimimaan toiseen maahan tai lopettaisi toimintansa kokonaan. Lisäksi pikaluottoyrityksille tulisi asettaa tarpeeksi suuri oman pääomanvaatimus sekä vuosittainen jäsenmaksu, mikä parantaisi alan valvontaa....
