Young adults’ knowledge about labor legislation and experiences from working life The subject of my thesis is young adults’ knowledge about labor legislation and experiences from working life. The goal of my thesis was to study how many young adults have experienced violations of their rights as employees, and do they have requisite knowledge about employee’s rights and duties. In the theoretical part of my thesis I analyze employer’s duties using labor legislation and appropriate literature as source. The actual study I carried out with a questionnaire. There were five questions altogether in the questionnaire. Part of these questions contained assertions whose tenability each answerer evaluates according to Likert’s scale. I also included open questions so that I could get more accurate information about each respondent’s experiences. The target group was young adults aged between 18 to 27 years and the questionnaire was sent to students of Laurea University of Applied Sciences in Hyvinkää, Kerava and Tikkurila units. I received 502 answers in total and 403 answers belonged to target group. According to results from the questionnaire, the violations of employees’ rights do happen. Approximately one quarter of respondents told that they have experienced violations of their employee’s rights at some point of their career. Although it is a clear minority, one quarter is still too much, because it is about rights that Finnish law should provide to every employee. According to the results the respondents’ knowledge about labor legislation was very varying. Some details were very well known but some quiet poorly. The results that really stood out from this section was that only one third of respondents feels that they have enough knowledge about labor legislation and only quarter feels that they have got a enough education about the subject....

Entrepreneurship orientation in small companies The purpose of this thesis is to clarify the entrepreneurship orientation posture in Finnish small companies. The target organization of this thesis is Laurea University of Applied Sciences and the thesis is a part of larger entrepreneurship orientation study. In this study networking was included one of the down-categories of the traditional entrepreneurship orientation model which are innovativeness, pro-activeness and risk-taking. The theory part covers the traditional entrepreneurship model and also discussion about networking and its importance in business is included. There is also a short discovery about growth entrepreneurship in Finland in the beginning of the theory section. This study was carried out by using a quantitative method. The material was gathered by email questionnaires and phone calls. The target organizations, located in Espoo and Lohja, were founded in 2000. The aim was to find out whether the results show as low posture of entrepreneurship orientation in these target organizations as the entrepreneurship orientation theory has stated. The results showed that the level of entrepreneurship orientation in Finnish small companies is not very high. However, the significance of networking in entrepreneurship orientation needs some further studying. The results were also compared with those of a corresponding international study. Conclusions were drawn based on the study results. These conclusions were possible reasons for why the results did not match the expectations according the former research and results of entrepreneurship orientation theory. Also suggestions about further studies are discussed in the end of this report....

The testing of a service concept for a Greek lunch restaurant being opened in 2011 The purpose of this thesis is to study with the help of an email based questionnaire, is there demand for a Greek lunch restaurant in the area of Punavuori. In addition the purpose of the study is to test the selected service concept and try to find the right segments which might be potential to use the lunch services. The Greek lunch restaurant Yassu Gyros Ltd will be founded during 2011. The company offers five days a week a versatile Greek lunch made of fresh ingredients - the specialty being gyros. At first the restaurant will only be serving lunch but in the future the goal is to expand the opening hours and to expand the operation to the biggest cities in Finland such as Tampere and Turku. The goal for the company is to be the most popular lunch restaurant in Helsinki by 2014. In the quantitative research was chosen three streets from Punavuori which were Merimiehenkatu, Punavuorenkatu and Iso-Roobertinkatu. The companies on these streets were picked from the Internet with help of Eniro.fi. The people to whom the email questionnaire was sent to were found from the companies own web pages. The questionnaire included questions about demographical features, lunch habits, opinions about Greek food, service concept and pricing. In the research was found that there is a demand for a Greek lunch restaurant in the area of Punavuori. The research brought up two segments: 35 to 44 year old people, who like Greek food, work in the area as entrepreneurs, in lower management or as specialists. The other segment is people, who are not satisfied with the present lunch restaurants in Punavuori. These people were not able to name their favorite lunch restaurant and because of it rarely ate lunch out. For the part of the service concept the research pointed out that the people ask for a basic lunch restaurant which is easy to reach. Some of the people were interested in delivery. The people found important the proper lighting, the Greek atmosphere, cozy interior and good service....

Sales development: Case Hyvinkään Sisustus Ltd The thesis was carried out in corporation with Hyvinkää Sisustus Ltd. The focus is on sales development which means how salespersons can improve sales level and how they are monitored in work. The aim is to identify business sales knowing in the current situation and its potential problem areas, which I am going to tackle in my work. The company’s sales development had not previously been investigated. The company was aware of the poor sales efficiency of the work situation, which is why my work research results and my development proposals are very useful for the company. The results will help the company to develop the salespersons and they can continue to develop salespersons selling skills later on. The study was conducted as a qualitative interview study. In the theoretical section the reader gets information which is needed to understand what good sales are and to know the sales process. The empirical section of the study was made by interviewing the company's salespersons for their determination in the sales in their work. The research method I used was an open theme interview, which enables me to compile the main theme topics of research by processing. The results indicated that the company had not used time to develop sales. The conscious selling was at a low level, so clarifying the sales-jobs and to get salespersons to know about the sales process play the major role in my development goal. Based on my research I was able to identify the salespersons job descriptions, weekly & monthly meeting frames, as well as to help monitoring decision of the request tracking method. With these proposals the company can continue to knowingly develop the salespersons in sales and to create continuity in the development....

Tämän toiminnallisen opinnäytetyön aiheena oli luoda markkinointisuunnitelma kehitteillä olevalle Internet-palvelulle, joka on digitaalisesti toimiva yhteisöllinen musiikkipalvelu. Palvelun mahdolliset liiketoimintamahdollisuudet perustuvat lähes täysin suureen käyttäjämäärään. Siksi työn tarkoituksena oli selvittää, miten palvelulle saavutetaan mahdollisimman paljon käyttäjiä, ja miten nämä käyttäjät aktivoidaan tuottamaan lisäarvoa palvelulle. Työn lopullisena tavoitteena oli markkinointisuunnitelma, joka vastaa edellä mainittuihin kysymyksiin.
Työ koostuu teoreettisesta viitekehyksestä, itse tuotetusta kyselytutkimuksesta ja markkinointisuunnitelmasta. Työn teoreettinen viitekehys muodostuu markkinoinnin perusteista ja sosiaalisen internetin mahdollistamista markkinointimenetelmistä sekä työkaluista. Työssä tuotettiin itse empiiristä aineistoa, joka luotiin kvantitatiivisella kyselytutkimuksella. Kyselytutkimus käsitteli vastaajien medioiden käyttöä. Hyödyntäen käsiteltyä markkinoinnin teoriaa ja itse tuotettua empiiristä aineistoa luotiin markkinointisuunnitelma.
Mediakentässä eletään murrosta, joka on vaikuttanut markkinointiin luoden perinteisten markkinointimallien rinnalle uusia malleja ja mahdollisuuksia. Kaiken taustalla on digitaalisuus, joka mahdollistaa globaalin verkostoitumisen. Tästä seurannut yhteisöllisyys ja kollektiivinen älykkyys ovat tehneet markkinoinnista kaksisuuntaista ja tärkeimmäksi on muodostunut vuorovaikutteisuus ja innovatiivisuus. Siksi myös luotu markkinointisuunnitelma pohjautuu näiden käsitteiden ympärille ottaen huomioon palvelun luonteen, toimintaympäristön ja käytettävissä olevan rajallisen budjetin.
Työssä kartoitettiin kattavasti tehokkaimpia nykyaikaisia markkinointimenetelmiä ja tuotettiin arvokasta tietoa ihmisten median käytöstä. Näiden tietojen pohjalta luotu markkinointisuunnitelma on tiivis kokonaisuus, joka käyttää tehokkaasti hyväkseen digitaalisuuden luomia mahdollisuuksia. Markkinointisuunnitelman tehokkuutta on hyvin vaikea arvioida ennen sen toteuttamista käytännössä. Kehitettävää palvelua ei mahdollisesti koskaan tulla julkaisemaan esimerkiksi rahoitukseen liittyvien haasteiden takia, jolloin markkinointisuunnitelman tehokkuus jää mittaamatta. Siitä huolimatta työssä tuotettua aineistoa ja markkinointisuunnitelmaa voidaan soveltaa käytettäväksi muiden digitaalisten hankkeiden lisäksi myös fyysisten hyödykkeiden ja palvelujen markkinoinnissa....

B2B – asiakaskirje jälleenmyyjille markkinointiviestinnän keinona – Case: Diesel Denmark ApS, Finnish Branch

Sähköinen markkinointiviestintä on paljon käytetty ja nopeasti kasvava viestinnän keino. Tässä opinnäytetyössä tarkasteltiin Business to Business -asiakaskirjeen mahdollisuutta yhtenä markkinointiviestinnän keinona Diesel Denmark ApS, Finnish Branch – yritykselle. Yritys hoitaa Diesel -tuotemerkin jälleenmyynnin Suomessa. Yritykselle pyrittiin löytämään hyödyn näkö-kulmasta vastaus tavoitteeseensa luoda sähköinen, nopea ja edullinen viestinnän keino, jolla jakaa tietoa itsestään jälleenmyyntiasiakkailleen. Alustava suunnitteluehdotus asiakaskirjeestä tehtiin yrityksessä suorittamassani harjoittelussa vuonna 2010.
Opinnäytetyöni tavoitteena oli auttaa kohdeyritystäni parantamaan markkinointiviestintäkeinojaan. Pyrittiin löytämään keino, jolla yritys ja sen tuotteet saadaan paremmin näkyviin kaikille jälleenmyyntiasiakkaille. Tarkoituksena oli myös löytää sopiva sisältö asiakaskirjeeseen. Teoreettinen viitekehys rakentuu yrityksen kokonaisvaltaisen viestinnän ja markkinointiviestinnän ympärille. Käytin apuna myös Business to Business – markkinoinnin ja sähköpostimarkkinoinnin teorioita.
Tutkimus toteutettiin kvalitatiivisena eli laadullisena tapaustutkimuksena. Benchmarking -vertailututkimusmenetelmän avulla tutkin muita Business to Business -asiakaskirjettä käyttäviä suomalaisia yrityksiä ja niiden näkemyksiä asiakaskirjeen tuottamasta hyödystä yritykseen. Asiakaskirjettä käyttäviä yrityksiä oli 5 ja johtopäätös oli, että asiakaskirje on hyvä keino lisätä myyntiä ja vahvistaa asiakassuhdetta. Kohdeyritykseni jälleenmyyjille lähettämääni kyselytutkimukseen vastasi 18/79 valituista jälleenmyyntiyritysten edustajista. Jälleenmyyjät olisivat kiinnostuneita asiakaskirjeestä, yrityksestä sekä sen tuotteista. Kohdeyritykselle suoritetun kyselyn vastaukset olivat kaikki samankaltaisia, mikä oli positiivista.
Kokonaisvaltaisesti tutkimus ja teoria puoltavat asiakaskirjeen käytön hyötyä. Kustannustehokas viestintä ja nopea tiedonkulku ovat avain pysyvään asiakassuhteeseen. Kehitysehdotus olisi, että toteutettaisiin asiakaskirje, jossa painotettaisiin tuotteiden näkyvyyttä jälleenmyyntiasiakkaille. Jatkotutkimuksena voisi tutkia asiakaskirjeen vaikutusta myyntiin sen käyttöön oton jälkeen....

Agentuuriyrityksen tuoma arvo toimitusketjussa, case BOCO - Nordic Board Agents and Consultants Ltd.

Opinnäytetyön aihe ja teoreettinen tausta pohjautuvat palvelun määrittämiseen sekä yritys-verkostojen kirjavaan maailmaan. Entisestään kansainvälistyvä liiketoiminta haastaa yritykset toimimaan eri kulttuureista koostuvissa toimintaympäristöissä sekä ymmärtämään ja omaksumaan uusia toimintatapoja. Uudelle markkina-alueelle siirtymistä voidaan helpottaa esimerkiksi käyttämällä agentuuriyritystä yhteistyökumppanina. Koska agentuuriyrityksen toiminta on palvelua, sen määrittäminen ja ymmärtäminen sekä millainen palvelu, mikä – ja miten palvelu tuottaa asiakkaalle arvoa, ovat tärkeitä lähtökohtia.
Työn hankeyritys on BOCO – Nordic Board Agents and Consuntalts Ltd. suomalainen vuonna 1999 perustettu itsenäinen agentuurityritys, joka työllistää tällä hetkellä seitsemän henkeä. Yrityksen toimiala on paperi- ja kartonkiteollisuus. Päämiessidosryhmiä on yhteensä kaksitoista, jotka ovat pääasiassa ulkomaalaisia paperia ja kartonkia valmistavia teollisuusyrityksiä, joille hankeyritys pyrkii olemaan pitkäaikainen sekä kokonaisvaltainen pohjoismaiden ja Venäjän markkinoiden ratkaisu. Yrityksen asiakasryhmiä ovat painotalot ja konvertoijat, brändinomistajat sekä design-talot. Yrityksen ydinajatuksena on tarjota pohjoismaisille painajille ja kotelovalmistajille entistä paremmin saataville erikoislajeja, joita ei tavallisesti valmisteta Suomessa tai Pohjoismaissa.
Opinnäytetyössä syvennytään tutkimaan hankeyrityksen tuomaa arvoa asiakkailleen sekä sitä, kuinka asiakkaat kokevat hyötyvänsä yrityksen toiminnasta nykyisellään ja millaiseksi he kokevat yrityksen palvelun laadun. Tutkimuksen kohteena ovat yrityksen Skandinavian ja Suomen aktiiviset asiakkaat, jotka on rajattu painotaloihin ja konvertoijiin. Asiakkuudet on vielä jaoteltu kahteen asiakasryhmään: aaltopahvin raaka-aineiden sekä kartonkien ja erikoispapereiden ostajiin. Kyseisiä asiakasryhmiä haluttiin lähteä vertailemaan niiden toiminnallisista sekä kokoeroista johtuen. Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena on agentin toimitusketjuun tuoman arvon sekä case-yrityksen palvelutason selvittäminen
Tutkimustyö tehtiin kvantitatiivisena otantana ja toteutettiin kyselylomakkeella, joka lähe-tettiin yhteensä 66 asiakkaalle. Tutkimustulokset osoittavat, että agentuuriyrityksen toimi-tusketjussa tuoma arvo asiakkaille on ajan säästäminen, asiantuntemuksen tuoma helpotus päätöksien tekemiseen sekä kansainvälisessä toiminnassa kulttuuristen erojen helpottaminen. Lisäksi asiakkaat hyötyvät agentuuriyrityksen pitkästä kokemuksesta toimialalta sekä markkina-alueelta. Tutkimustuloksien perusteella voidaan todeta, että asiakkaat kokevat agentin olemassaolon heidän ja päämiehen välillä hyödylliseksi. Tulokset vahvistavat myös, että hankeyrityksen toiminta on nykyisellään hyödyllistä, arvoa tuottavaa ja menestyksekästä.

The thesis examined methods of human resource development and the training process, with the purpose of improving the training program of Mandatum Life’s Major Accounts team. The scope of this thesis is limited to human resource development and training. This limitation is based on the assignment by Mandatum Life. The theoretical framework focused on research into human resource development and training processes as well as implementation of the training. In the theoretical framework the training process is discussed, particularly from the perspective of a new employee. For reasons of confidentiality, the case study section of this study, containing the training plan prepared for the Mandatum Life’s Major Accounts team, is contained in the appendix of this paper and will not be published. This study consists of two parts. The first focuses on human resource development, which refers to the maintenance and increase of knowledge, expertise and skills and ensures that employees are able to perform their current work tasks, as well as even more challenging tasks in the future. This paper describes the needs and methodologies of human resource development, and examines skills development through the learning organization and by increasing learning ability. The second area of focus is training. As the training of new employees is one of the most sig-nificant forms of training in the workplace, its planning and execution are important areas of consideration. In the course of training, a new employee is familiarized with subjects such as the organization and its operations, business ideas, human resource strategy and policy and the organizational environment. This study discusses training as a concept, and its target, meaning and benefits. Methods of conducting high-quality training are introduced in the empirical section. A qualitative survey for this thesis was conducted during the fall of 2011. The qualitative survey was performed as an interview via e-mail. The target group consisted of employees of the Major Accounts team. As an outcome of this study, the current state of the training and concrete development ideas to resolve problems areas are outlined.
