This thesis is a part of Social media in help at job hunting and recruiting project that is carried out in addition to Laurea University of Applied Sciences, Tampere University of Applied Sciences, Lapland University of Applied Sciences and University of Eastern Finland. The aim of the project Sometaduuniin is to achieve a permanent change in higher education guidance principles by enhancing the use of digital media and social media, for example, in encounters between working life and students. The purpose of this thesis was to chart how different professionals use portfolios for personal branding and how they market their skills. The second purpose of the thesis was also to find various case examples for the Sometaduuniin project. The theoretical framework of the thesis deals with personal branding and portfolio. The first theoretical part of the thesis defines the concept of personal brand and brand, the relationship between brand, reputation and image, and how the personal brand is formed, as well as how to define a good personal brand. The second theoretical part defines what portfolio is and different forms of portfolios. Thereafter, the construction of a portfolio is dealt with, including the contents of portfolio and how to build a portfolio. This part also presents suitable web services for building a portfolio. The thesis was carried out as a qualitative study. The data collection methods used included thematic interviewing and web observation. The interview data was analyzed using thematic analysis. Four people from different professional fields participated in this study and they all had personal experiences of using portfolio. Miten ja miksi yritykset hyödyntävät liiketoimintamallien innovointia? : näkökulma: tilat

Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli tutkia miten ja miksi suomalaiset yritykset hyödyntävät liiketoiminnassaan liiketoimintamallien innovointia. Työn toimeksiantajana toimi konsulttiyritys Differo Oy ja se toteutettiin pääasiassa kolmen viikon intensiivijakson aikana. Intensiivijakso, #Business Design#ThesisHack, oli samalla myös ainutlaatuinen kokeilu tehdä opinnäytetyö lyhyessä ajassa ryhmätyöskentelyä ja Design Sprint menetelmää hyödyntäen.
Työn kirjallisuuskatsauksella luotiin tietoperustaa tutkittavalle aiheelle. Sen avulla pyrittiin selvittämään, mistä liiketoimintamallissa sekä niiden innovoinnissa on kyse ja miten niiden innovointia voidaan toteuttaa. Lisäksi työssä pohdittiin aihetta tilojen näkökulmasta eli siitä, millainen rooli tiloilla on innovointiprosessissa sekä miten liiketoimintamalli vaikuttaa tiloihin. Näihin pyrittiin löytämään vastauksia myös asiantuntijahaastatteluilla ja havainnoinnilla. Haastatteluita tehtiin 11, yhteensä kahdeksassa eri yrityksessä ja havainnointia tehtiin eri yritysten tiloissa, joista seitsemän oli fyysisiä ja seitsemän virtuaalisia tiloja.
Opinnäytetyön tutkimuksen tulosten perusteella voidaan todeta jo kirjallisuuskatsauksessakin havainnoitu liiketoimintamallin määrittelemisen vaikeus. Tulokset osoittavat, että liiketoimintamallin kehittäminen tapahtuu enemmän yleisesti osana liiketoiminnan kehittämistä kuin tarkoituksellisena toimintana. Yritykset kokevat liiketoimintamallin kehittämisen olevan jatkuva prosessi, jossa keskiössä ovat erityisesti asiakkaat ja heidän tarpeisiinsa vastaaminen. Tulokset osoittavat myös tiloilla olevan merkitystä niin innovointiprosessin aikana kuin itse liiketoimintamallissa liiketoiminnan toteuttamisen kannalta.
Opinnäytetyön lopputuotoksena on opas, jonka avulla yritysten on mahdollista analysoida omaa liiketoimintaansa suhteessa tiloihin. Oppaassa selitetään lyhyesti tutkimuksessa havaitut tilan kolme ulottuvuutta; fyysinen, virtuaalinen ja sosiaalinen, sekä mitä hyötyä niillä voidaan liiketoimintamalliin luoda. Oppaan avulla on mahdollista selvittää, mitkä tilan ulottuvuudet ovat yrityksen liiketoiminnan ja liiketoimintamallin kannalta merkityksellisiä ja saada vinkkejä, miten niiden toimivuutta voidaan edistää.
Työn yhtenä tärkeänä johtopäätöksenä voidaan mainita erityisesti tutkimuksilla löydetty huomio siitä, että kolmesta tilan ulottuvuudesta vähintään yksi vaaditaan liiketoimintaa varten, mutta liiketoiminnasta riippuen lähes aina kaksi ja yleensä jopa kolme ulottuvuutta on nykypäivänä tarpeen menestyäkseen. Tilojen ominaisuudet ja merkityksellisyys vaihtelevat liiketoimintamallin mukaan.
Opinnäytetyön mahdollisena jatkokehitysaiheena voisi tutkia tässä opinnäytetyössä syntyneen oppaan soveltamista yrityksille käytännössä. Tämän tutkimuksen osalta opasta on sovellettu olemassa oleviin yrityksiin vain ajatuksen tasolla....

This thesis was made for a financial company that operates in Finland. In the company’s current processes, a practical problem was discovered, which they wanted to correct. The problem was that the early stage of the pension handling process was time consuming and caused extra work for the employees. The purpose of the thesis was to find the actual problems of the process and remove the observed problems or at least reduce their impact by developing the related practices and tools. The aim of the thesis was to optimize the process in question so that it would consume less working hours and employees’ time and resources could be transferred to other tasks. The theoretical framework of the thesis consisted of process development. The most important aspect was the development and automation of the software and tools. These perspectives built an understanding of what software-based robotics and automation of systems mean and how they can be used to optimize processes. The company’s problem was decided to solve with action research. The purpose of the action research is to provide a practical solution in co-operation with the persons in the organization which is the object of the research. Methodological solutions were made during the different phases of the research according to the needed information. Observation methods were used to evaluate the developed process. In addition, the achievement of the objectives of the research was evaluated both by the answers to the questionnaire addressed to the participants and by comparing the lead times of the original and the developed process. As an output of action research, a tool was created that reduced the manual and recurring stages of the process. Also, a task queue was created that enabled one further stage to be removed from the process. All in all the process became more straightforward. The required actions of the process were performed 65 percent faster than before. The results of this thesis concern only the company in question and the work in question. The results cannot be generalized because they were influenced by the opinions of individual people. The development proposal was to continue the development in the next stages of the pension handling process, especially by developing the task queue....

The purpose of this thesis project was to investigate how meetings could become more effective in companies. This subject was examined in Senate Properties (Senaatti-kiinteistöt) head office in Helsinki year 2018. There were two main perspectives to focus on in this thesis. The first was to understand how workers can increase their effectiveness in meetings by their own actions and preparation. The second idea was to identify the main ways that companies can offer their workers functional and user-friendly meeting rooms. The theoretical framework was based on how to organize a meeting, how to furnish a meeting room and how to utilize technology in these rooms. To understand what kind of equipment should be found in most of the meeting rooms, the theoretical framework starts by looking into how a worker should prepare for a meeting and what to look into while booking a meeting room. A user satisfaction survey was utilised to explore how satisfied Senate Properties’ workers are with their meeting rooms. In this survey the respondents were asked to comment on their space reservation system and meeting rooms to be able to understand if they are user-friendly and functional for their work. The survey received 92 responses. The survey was open from 22.02.2018 to 09.03.2018. Based on the responses, it was understood that the workers at Senate Properties are happy with their current meeting rooms and no quick action is needed right away. The workers would want to acquire either a Skype or video conferencing device for all of their meeting rooms and hoped that all electronic devices would always work smoothly. The main reason for a meeting to start late was claimed to be because an electronic device did not work or users did not know how to use it. All the results were reviewed together with those workers who were involved with organizing meeting rooms. Based on the results it was clear that the employees of Senate Properties are pleased with the current space reservation system and all of their meeting rooms. As part of how to develop their meeting rooms, workers and I together started planning on making instructions for electronic devices easier to understand and to think how it could be easier to collect service advice....

The goal of this thesis was to search for suitable means to enhance the flow of information and cooperation within the teams of the client company Pelago MFG Ltd. Better flow of information and supporting the team cooperation help employees to work better together and understand the tasks and projects of other teams. They also aim to improve the quality of the products and profit of the company. The theoretical framework discusses the different tools for improving the flow of information and team cooperation. The chapters concerning the tools are underlaid with a few topics such as teamwork and knowledge management. Means to improve flow of information and team cooperation at Pelago were created applying the results of this thesis? To improve the flow of information and team cooperation the current baseline had to be examined. The functional part in this thesis consisted of a quantitative study and the data was collected with an online questionnaire inquiry. The selected research method enabled the use of clarifying charts and schemes. The results show four different means to improve the flow of information and team cooperation. The means are tailored to meet the needs of Pelago. The selected means are job rotation, Lean-management, mentoring and creating a multiprofessional team. These means are not used in the company so further studies are possible and even recommended....

Pitkittäistutkimus: Mäntsälän maine yritysten näkökulmasta : case: Mäntsälän Yrityskehitys Oy

Tämän opinnäytetyön aiheena oli pitkittäistutkimus Mäntsälän maineesta. Opinnäytetyön toimeksiantajana toimi Mäntsälän Yrityskehitys Oy, jonka missio on paikallisen elinkeinoelämän auttamisessa, sekä kehittämisessä. Tavoite tässä opinnäytetyössä oli selvittää Mäntsälän mainetta yritysten näkökulmasta vuonna 2018, verrata sitä aiempiin tutkimustuloksiin vuodelta 2013, sekä tarjota tulevaisuuden tutkimuksia varten lisää taustatietoa.
Opinnäytetyön tutkimustulosten perusteella Mäntsälän Yrityskehitys Oy pystyi hahmottamaan, ovatko he omalta osaltaan onnistuneet kehittämään Mäntsälän mainetta ja pohtimaan, millaisiin asioihin kannattaisi mahdollisesti panostaa tulevaisuudessa.
Tässä opinnäytetyössä esiteltyihin tutkimustuloksiin hankittiin tietoa teemahaastattelulla sekä kyselytutkimuksella. Teemahaastattelun haastateltavana oli Mäntsälän Yrityskehitys Oy:n markkinointipäällikkö Jyrki Teeriaho. Kyselytutkimukseen vastanneet olivat Mäntsälän Yrityskehitys Oy:n sidosryhmä yrityksiä. Kyselytutkimus sisälsi 14 kysymystä ja se lähetettiin 173 vastaajalle.
Opinnäytetyön teoreettinen osuus koostui maineen teoriasta. Tietoa maineen teoriasta hankittiin kirjoista ja internetistä. Kaikki hankittu tieto oli kirjoitettu suomeksi. Tutkimus toteutettiin lähinnä kvalitatiivisia tutkimusmenetelmiä käyttäen. Teoreettisen tiedon lisäksi opinnäytetyössä käytettiin tietoja muista opinnäytetöistä, yleistä tietoa internetistä, sekä Mäntsälän Yrityskehitys Oy:n julkaisematonta tietoa.
Teemahaastattelun ja kyselytutkimuksen tuloksista voitiin nähdä, että Mäntsälän maine yritysten näkökulmasta on edelleen hyvä. Mäntsälän Yrityskehitys Oy on pystynyt omalla toiminnallaan tukemaan Mäntsälän maineen positiivista kuvaa. Heidän työskentelyyn ollaan oltu erittäin tyytyväisiä. Yritykset ovat nähneet, että muun muassa viestintä ja avun saanti on ollut laadukasta. Onnistunutta mainekuvaa osaltaan kuvaa myös se, että Mäntsälään on saatu sijoittumaan suuria kansainvälisiä yrityksiä.
Tulosten pohjalta esiin nousseita kehitysideoita olivat infrastruktuurin kehittäminen, sekä palveluiden parantaminen. Näillä toimilla mainekuvaa saataisiin luultavasti entistäkin paremmaksi....

The aim of the following thesis diary is to track and develop the job of Human Resource (HR) assistants within a company, that offers recruiting services to a large organization working within the finance industry in Finland. This thesis is based on a diary presentation. The aim of using a diary-based format, was to describe daily given job assignments and to analyze the results at the end of each week. Weekly analysis reflects and evaluates areas related to mentioned job role, based on academic literature. Themes gathered from the weekly analysis were based on areas of development revealed as a result of a ten-week work period. Selected targets for focused development were human resource development, orientation, complaints, work- and self-management, telecommuting or “working from home”, customer relations and orientation, digitalization, internal communication, recognition and user experience. The goal of weekly analyses is to develop and advance communicative transactions of the organization, employee proficiencies as part of a company’s strategic capabilities and utilization of customer experience to protect competitive advantage.
