This thesis studied the services available to a disabled person and his family from a financial perspective and examined the relevant legislation. The target group was limited to a family with a school-aged Down syndrome child. The objective of the thesis is to clarify the legislation concerning the target group’s financial support and also to establish the services in outpatient care that are carried out at home. The services need to be surveyed, so that in the future it is possible to investigate the associated costs. The sources used in the thesis are derived from the relevant legislation, literature and electronic sources. The thesis introduces a general definition of mental retardation. It also examines the rights of mentally retarded persons and related laws. The main laws are the Social Welfare Act, the Mental Retardation Act, the Disability Services Act, the Mental Health Act, the Public Health Act, the Act on Specialized Care, the Child Welfare Act, the Patient Care Act, the Act on a Carer’s Allowance and the Rehabilitation Act. Finland’s disability services are presented at a general level, so that the reader can understand the extent of the service package in a disabled person’s life. These services include personal assistance, rehabilitation, various types of housing, work and daily activities, and hobbies. The support and services the mentally disabled person is entitled to according to legislation and what is required to have those services are presented in the thesis. The most important financial support the municipality provides for families are the service voucher and informal care support. The Social Insurance Institution in turn pays the child benefit, disability support for under 16-year-olds and money for rehabilitation during adaptation training and rehabilitation courses. To obtain financial support the family must fill in three forms, two of which vary according to municipality. The Special Care Program and the Service and Care plan varied according to municipality, but the Social Insurance Institution’s Rehabilitation plan is in general use around Finland. At the end of the thesis an imaginary family and their basket of services are presented as an example. The basket includes the customer’s everyday services, which include school, morning and afternoon activities, transportation and also the services of a personal assistant, a rehabilitation counselor and a foster keeper. In addition, analysis of the fictional handicapped family’s income and expenditure is provided, with the purpose of highlighting the extent to which a disabled family’s life differs from other families, and the issues that must be taken into account in everyday life....

Pienasiakkaan tilintarkastusprosessi ISA-standardien mukaan : Case: PricewaterhouseCoopers Oy

Opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli selvittää, miten
ISA–standardit ohjaavat pienasiakkaan tilintarkastusta. Teorian pohjalta hahmotettiin tilintarkastusprosessi, ja nostettiin esille pienyhteisöä koskeva ohjeistus. Teoriatiedon pohjalta toteutettiin PwC:lle pienasiakaskannan työpohjien uudistamisprojekti tarkoituksena varmistaa, että kaikkiin ISA–standardien vaatimuksiin vastataan tilintarkastuksen aikana. Toisaalta uudistamisella haettiin tehokkuutta tarkastustyön tekemiseen, jotta asiakaskohtaiset kustannukset pysyisivät kohtuullisina.
Idea opinnäytetyöhön syntyi Laurean liiketalouden koulutusohjelmaan liittyvän työharjoittelun aikana alkuvuonna 2011. Suoritin harjoittelun pääosin PwC:n Hyvinkään toimistossa, jossa keskustelimme esimieheni kanssa paljon tilintarkastuksen toteuttamiseen ja dokumentoimiseen liittyvistä asioista. PwC:llä oli muutenkin tarkoituksena uudistaa pienasiakaskantaa, joten opinnäytetyöhön suunniteltu projekti sopi tilanteeseen hyvin.
Teoriapohjan tuloksena tilintarkastusprosessista valmistui sekä kirjallinen että kuvallinen selvitys, jossa otetaan huomioon pienyhteisöä koskeva säätely. Tulosten valossa ISA–standardien antamat ohjeet vaikuttavat kevyiltä, eivätkä suuresti ratkaise pienasiakkaan tilintarkastuksen ongelmia.
Projektin tuloksena uudet työpohjat esiteltiin PwC:n sisäisessä koulutustilaisuudessa 16.9.2011. Projekti oli yhteistyön tulos; Hyvinkäällä tapahtuneen suunnittelun ja kehittämisen lisäksi siihen osallistui useita aluetoimistojen tilintarkastajia sekä pienasiakaskannan metodologiasta ja pientyökalusta vastaavat henkilöt. The use of service vouchers in providing services for the elderly The purpose of this thesis is to examine the use of Vantaa city ́s service vouchers in the elderly care. In Finland the population is aging rapidly. The provision of social and care services for elderly people has become a big challenge for the public sector as demand for care services is increasing. When demand for care services increases and the proportional share of taxpayers is declining there is a need for more cost effective care services. The service voucher is a relatively new way to provide social and health care services. The service voucher system emphasizes the clients’ freedom of choice and also allows local authorities to provide support for entrepreneurship and produce health services more cost effectively. Vantaa city has begun to use service vouchers to produce care services for the elderly and stated that the service voucher system be introduced as a temporary experiment in 2011- 2012. The aim of the service voucher experiment is to develop new cost-effective forms to provide care services. Vantaa city expects that the service voucher system will make savings for the city. The thesis contains an interview with a worker from Vantaa city, during which the interviewee revealed that by using service vouchers to provide sheltered accommodation care services Vantaa could save more depending on the clients’ net incomes. Vantaa city uses service vouchers also to provide temporary care arrangements for family care givers. During the interview it was revealed also that Vantaa could save money if more care givers would use service vouchers for temporary care arrangements. For this thesis an association manager from Caregivers' Association was also interviewed. During the interview the association manager revealed that the Caregivers' Association and the family care givers have been more critical towards the service voucher system. The Caregivers' Association has sometimes felt that the cities use service voucher system have often had too unrealistic aims....

Job satisfaction and changeover to a new accounting programme in Seutukeskus Oy Häme The aim of the study was to find out what the employees of Seutukeskus Oy Häme think about their job satisfaction and the success of the project in which a new accounting programme was launched. The goal of the research was to establish whether the new accounting programme was more efficient than the old one and how the process of launching this new programme was arranged. In addition to this the study aimed to find out the current job satisfaction of the employees of payroll department. This was compared to a human resources survey conducted in Seutukeskus Oy Häme in 2008. The present study was conducted by an online survey which was emailed to 30 employees and supervisors of the payroll department. 26 participants out of 30 completed the survey. The data was analysed in terms of programme change, job satisfaction and programme launch. The programme launch aimed at discovering whether the new accounting programme is easier to use compared to the old one. The theoretical framework of this study discusses the problems, visions and the importance of communications in management of changes. In addition to this the theoretical framework clarifies main concepts of human resources and job satisfaction. As the results of this study one can conclude that the process conducted in the target organisation was not as successful as it could have been according to the employees and supervisors of the payroll department. It became evident in the study that the employees would have wanted to have more influence on the process. Especially, they would have wanted to have more information about the progression and execution of the process. Job satisfaction has decreased when compared to the survey completed in 2008. In addition to this it became evident that the new accounting programme is easier to use and more efficient according to the employees. Although the process is now mostly over there is still a considerable amount of work to be done in terms of developing and improving the accounting programme....

Tämä työ käsittelee, kuinka prosessit, niiden kuvaaminen, parantaminen ja mittaaminen ovat olennainen osa laatutyötä ja mitä haasteita siihen liittyy. Kun organisaatioon aletaan rakentaa laatujärjestelmää, tarvitaan menestyksellistä muutosjohtajuutta onnistuakseen tavoitteessa. Työn tavoitteena on selvittää, miten RAY:n Rahapelitoiminnan johto ja asiantuntijat näkevät laatuun, prosessien kuvaamiseen, parantamiseen, mittaamiseen ja muutosjohtamiseen liittyvät tarpeet.
Työn taustalla on opinnäytetyötä tehdessä meneillään oleva laatuprojekti RAY:ssä, jossa rakennetaan liiketoimintaa tukeva jatkuvaan parantamiseen perustuva laatujärjestelmä. Laatujärjestelmän ensimmäisessä kehitysvaiheessa määritellään ydinprosessit ja niihin liittyvät tukiprosessit Rahapelitoiminnassa 31.8.2011 mennessä. Tämän työn painopiste on prosessien kuvaamisessa ja muutosjohtajuudessa.
Keskeisenä työn lähteinä on haastattelut ja teoriaosuudessa käytetty kirjallisuus. Työn tutkimusmenetelmänä käytettiin kvalitatiivista teemahaastattelua, jossa haastateltiin seitsemää RAY:n Rahapelitoiminnan johto- ja asiantuntijatehtävissä työskentelevää henkilöä.
Haastatteluiden perusteella suurimmiksi haasteiksi osoittautui laatunäkökulmasta se, että pystytään keskittymään oikeisiin asioihin, sekä vastuiden ja roolien selkeys työtehtävissä. Johdon kannalta haasteena on operatiivisen ja strategisen työn tasapainottaminen. Painopisteen tulisi olla paljon enemmän strategisemmassa työssä, kuin mitä se tällä hetkellä on.
Prosessien kuvaamiseen tulisi osallistua ne, joita prosessi koskee ja siihen tulee varata resursseja. Kun organisaation toimintoja on hajallaan ympäri Suomea ja niitä on lukematon määrä, haastavaa on löytää sopivimmat ratkaisut ja karsia turhat toimintamallit pois. Prosessit tulee kuvata sopivalla tasolla, ei liian yksityiskohtaisesti. Kyse on systematiikan ja joustavuuden tasapainosta. Prosessien kuvaaminen totuudenmukaisesti on tärkeää, jotta ne ohjaavat toimintaa, muistuttavat ja toimivat jokapäiväisen tekemisen apuna.
Muutoksen läpivientiin tarvitaan, että prosessit, roolit ja vastuut ovat kunnossa. Muutosjohtajan keskeinen tehtävä on luoda strategioita ja kommunikoida visio riittävällä tasolla koko organisaatiolle. Tarvitaan kyky tehdä päätöksiä ja nähdä kokonaisuus, mihin ne perustuvat....

The Change of Generation in a Logistics Company The subject of this thesis is a change of generation in a logistics company. The purpose of this thesis is to explore the whole process, and furthermore, to survey different options of realiz-ing the process in practice. The aim is to highlight the aspects and possibilities that can emerge when accomplishing the process. In addition, the main goal is to discover the most suitable manner of implementing the process from the perspective of the logistics company, Kuljetus Oy Markku Sirén. Transferring the ownership of the company from the entrepreneur to his descendant should be realized as successfully as possible. When analyzing the process, both economical issues and advantages of the key customers must be taken into considera-tion. The survey of this study was implemented by using the qualitative analysis. When considering the data acquisition, the primary sources of the base material were various books, scientific articles and the Internet. In addition to this, four interviews were conducted in different branches, in addition to one accounting company. Photographs and figures were also used in order to illustrate the issue. The study indicates that when comparing the analyzed data to the theory of the issue, con-tradictions were not found. The results of the interviews are consistent with the earlier re-search. In other words, the issues that rose up from the interviews support the theory of the subject. The research results reveal that a sole way of realizing the change of generation cannot be found. It was shown in the survey that the change of generation is a long-term and challenging process, where proper planning and cautious implementing are vital issues. When proper planning and professional organizing occur, it is possible to minimize unpredictable taxation costs. When implementing the process, neither the theory nor the results of the in-terviews could show that there are significant differences between dissimilar branches. Al-though the legislation and specific characteristics vary between different branches, the core issues and requirements for successful process seem to be equivalent....

Competitor analysis IKEA Vantaa The thesis was conducted by an assignment from IKEA Vantaa. The main theme of the thesis was to carry out a competitor analysis of sofa and mattress markets of IKEA Vantaa. The competitor analysis was limited to six significant competitors who operate in the market area of IKEA Vantaa. The main objective of the thesis was to recognize the strongest competitor for IKEA Vantaa in sofa and mattress markets. The aim of the thesis was to assist the growth of IKEA Vantaa through its business plan. The recognition of the main competitors was carried out by a systematic competitor analysis. This analysis was focused on following and analyzing the competitor’s conspicuousness, reliability, vitality, product pricing, product sales, campaigns and communication. The competitors were followed through homepages, advertising and outlet visits in fall 2011. ASKO was identified as the strongest competitor of IKEA Vantaa in the sofa market. ASKO stands out in the Finnish furniture industry with a versatile product range, domestic products, strong tradition, conspicuousness and reliability. JYSK was recognized as the most significant competitor in the mattress market. Tulevaisuuden logistiikkaosaamisen taso suhteessa logistiikan koulutustarjontaan

Osana Etelä-Suomen logistiikkakeskusjärjestelmän kehittämishanketta (ESLogC) toteutettiin tulevaisuuden osaamisenarviointi –kysely hankkeen partneriyrityksille sekä koulutustarjontaselvitys logistiikka-alan koulutuksista. Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli selvittää, kuinka tulevaisuuden logistiikkaosaamisen taso vastaa tämänhetkiseen logistiikkakoulutustarjontaan. Opinnäytetyö toimi kartoituksena ESLogC-hankkeelle.
Työ rakentui kyselytulosten perusteella saadusta tulevaisuuden logistiikkaosaamisen tason kartoituksesta ja logistiikka-alan koulutustarjonnan analysoinnista sekä näiden kahden aineiston vastaavuuden vertailusta. Teoreettinen tutkimus osaltaan tuki osaamisen ja koulutuksen välisen suhteen tarkastelua. Teoriakatsaus painottui logistiikan, osaamisen ja logistiikkaosaamisen sekä ammattikorkeakoulutuksen, koulutuksen ja niiden kehittämisen teemoihin.
Koulutustarjontaselvityksen tarkastelu oli tässä työssä rajattu ammattikorkeakouluihin ja maksullisiin lisäkoulutuksiin. Tulevaisuuden osaamisenarviointi -kyselyn tuloksissa oli painotettu varastotyöntekijöiden, varaston työnjohdon sekä logistiikan johdon ja suunnittelijoiden tulosten tarkastelua.
Teoreettinen viitekehys rakentui kyselylomaketeoriasta ja ammattikorkeakouluteoriasta sekä logistiikasta ja osaamisesta. Aihealueeltaan työ on logistiikkaa, henkilöstöhallintaa ja niiden kehittämistä.
Tulevaisuuden osaamisenarviointi -kyselyillä pyrittiin selvittämään yritysten logistiikkaosaamisen kehittämisalueet ja koulutustarjonnan selvityksen kautta selvittämään koulutusmahdollisuuksia vastaamaan työelämän vaatimuksiin. Tavoitteena oli selvittää, mitä tulevaisuuden valmiuksia tarvitaan logistiikkaosaamisen kehittämiseen.
Kuten oletusarvona oli, tutkimus paljasti logistiikka-alalla olevan sekä osaamista että kehittämisen tarvetta. Suurimmat kehittämisen osa-alueet löytyivät teknologian osaamisesta, laadunhallinnan ja kestävän kehityksen periaatteiden osaamisesta sekä sidosryhmäosaamisesta. Tutkimuksen perusteella löydettiin jatkotutkimusaiheita, joiden avulla logistiikkaosaamista voi kehittää entisestään....

Finlex and the decisions of Hämeenlinna Adminstrative Court The purpose of this Thesis is to explain how and why Hämeenlinna Adminstrative Court publishes its decisions. The decisions are published in the Internet on page www.finlex.fi. Examination relates to laws and theories that includes in publishing the decisions. I have worked as a secretary in Hämeenlinna Adminstrative Court for two and a half years and I had the subject to my Thesis there. As I worked, I also got a lot of information and learned much. Without that experience I wouldn’t have been able to do this study. In this Thesis I have described the work process in Hämeenlinna Adminstrative Court and the matters that relates to choosing a decision when publishing them. The numbers of published Hämeenlinna Adminstrative Court decisions are untangled by statistics. The number turned out to be quite low but it is in the same level with other Adminstrative Courts. To reach better information and transparency Hämeenlinna Adminstrative Court could publish some more of its decisions....
