Consumer credit is a debt that a person incurs when purchasing a good or service. In this study consumer credit refers to loan, grace or other financial arrangement granted to consumer by the lender companies. Consumer credit can be either secured or unsecured. Unsecured consumer credits are such as credit cards issued by banks or small immediately obtainable consumer loans granted instantly by credit companies. Instant credit, also known as short-term unsecured loan or quickie loan, entered the market in 2005 and has entailed many problems. In addition to the increase in people getting into debt and payment default entries, also the need for control and regulation of consumer credit is greater than ever. In particular, debt collection of unpaid instant credits and instalment credits employs many in the district courts of Greater Helsinki. The efforts to decrease problems incurred by unsecured consumer credit have been made primarily by means of legislation. In 2008 the Council and Parliament of European Union stipulated a directive (2008/48/EC) on credit agreements for consumers and repealing Council Directive (87/102/EEC). In December 2010, the directive was incorporated in the reform of the Finnish Consumer Protection Act, Chapter 7. Even before that, in February 2010, revisions were made to regulations relating to instant credit. Interest rate cap regulation that was stipulated in 2013, has been the most significant controlling factor concerning instant credit activity. The regulation allows 50% interest rate plus effective reference rate of interest to consumer loans of less than 2.000 euros. After the legislation in question took place, the amount of instant credit companies decreased significantly. Subsequently, instant credit companies have developed new loan products, such as line of credit or peer-to-peer (P2P) lending. These kind of consumer credit products have made it possible to evade interest rate cap regulation and thus the problem has worsened. The aim of this thesis was to investigate unsecured consumer credit legislation and its revisions as well as reflect on the impact on individuals in debt. The study was executed from a judicial perspective in relation to the subject matter. The thesis showed that in spite of frequent law reforms, the legislation concerning unsecured consumer credits is still deficient. Yet another law reform is currently in preparation to make the regulations concerning interest rate cap stricter. The objective is to apply an interest rate cap also to credits over 2.000 euros. The future will show whether this law reform is comprehensive enough to control the problems arising from unsecured consumer credit products....

Uusien työntekijöiden perehdyttämisen kehittäminen

Opinnäytetyön aihe valikoitui toimeksiantajalle esille tulleesta tarpeesta. Opinnäytetyön tavoitteeksi muodostui toimeksiantajayksikön uusien työtekijöiden perehdyttämisen kehittäminen kartoittamalla perehdyttämisen nykytila. Kehittämiskohteita selvitettiin haastattelemalla henkilökuntaa ja haastattelujen tulosten perusteella toimeksiantajalle laadittiin konkreettisia ehdotuksia perehdyttämisen kehittämiseksi.
Tähän asti yksikön perehdyttämistä on hoitanut hallinnollinen avustaja tai joku työntekijöistä. Perehdyttämismateriaalina on käytetty organisaation ja yksikön intranetistä löytyvää materiaalia.
Opinnäytetyön tietoperusta muodostui perehdyttämistä käsittelevästä kirjallisuudesta. Teoriaosuudessa käsitellään perehdyttämistä, perehdyttämisen merkitystä perehdytettäville ja organisaatiolle, perehdyttämisen suunnittelua sekä perehdyttämisen seurantaa. Tärkeinä osina tietoperustaa ovat myös perehdyttämistä koskeva lainsäädäntö sekä mentorointi.
Työntekijöiden haastatteluita tehtiin kuusi kappaletta. Haastatelluissa oli edustettuina työntekijöitä yksikön kaikista henkilöstöryhmistä. Haastateltavat työntekijät valittiin sen mukaan, milloin he olivat aloittaneet työskentelyn yksikössä. Haastattelut toteutettiin teemahaastatteluina.
Haastatteluiden perusteella muodostuneet konkreettiset kehitysehdotukset yksikölle ovat perehdytyksen suunnittelu sekä mentoroinnin käyttäminen perehdyttämisessä. Lisäksi yksikössä jo osittain käytössä oleva työtestamentin jättäminen tulee ottaa käyttöön kaikille työntekijöille. Opinnäytetyön tuotoksina laadittiin perehdyttämisen suunnitelma, testamenttipohja sekä perehdyttämisen tarkistuslista. Tuotoksien avulla toimeksiantaja pystyy kehittämään perehdyttämistä henkilökunnan hyväksi kokemien ratkaisuiden ja toiveiden avulla....

The purpose of this thesis was to research and explore consumption habits in Mäntsälä. The function was to examine how the behaviour has changed in past six years. The second purpose was to examine what the residence of Mäntsälä think about their home municipality’s services and what it has to offer. The mission was to provide clear information to the mandator, that they can develop Mäntsälä’s area. The mandator was also interested about e-commerce, so this was included to the inquiry. Mäntsälä’s Yrityskehitys Oy gave the subject for the research. Company’s goal is to improve region’s business, support and help other companies finding their own location within Kapuli area. The company also forwards industrial property and co-operates with local and external companies. (Mäntsälän Yrityskehitys Oy 2017a.) The research was supported by theory and different researches. Theory part included consumer behaviour and e-commerce. The research method was quantitative. The electronic inquiry was made by utilizing the inquiry from the last research. E-commerce was added as a new subject. Inquiry was published in Facebook in three different pages. In this way, the inquiry was focused for the right target group, inhabitants of Mäntsälä. While comparing the results similarity was discovered between the researches. There has not been any major changes in the opinions. This shows that probably the last results were not exploited. It is also possible that the inhabitants of Mäntsälä wants to make area more vital than it is now and faster than the area developers can execute. This research provides information about inhabitants’ wishes and desires. Through these it is possible to develop area, while supporting the future vision of Mäntsälä’s municipality....

The aim of this thesis was to clarify the possibilities for digital internal communication to support information flow and interactivity. The purpose was to gather research information about the subject by implementing a narrative literature review. The data search was conducted by using several digital databases. Eventually nine articles were selected for the literature review. The articles were analysed using content analysis. Digitalization has made the internal communication challenges more versatile than ever before. The number of communicators has increased, and so has the amount of capabilities required to communicate. The line between internal and external communication has become vague and communication has become more open. Digitalization has increased the pace of communication and by doing so it has enhanced the flow of information. On the other hand, the faster communication has caused an information overload which significantly slows down the possibilities of finding relevant information. The results of the review indicate that digital channels enable interactive internal communication and efficient information flow. This possibility is, however, greatly influenced by the organizational culture, given instructions for communication as well as time and channels that are provided. Key factors to interactivity and fluent information flow are need-based communication channels and messaging skills of the users. Common guidelines are crucial to the success of digital internal communication. The key findings of this literature review are the avenues that it opens for further research. The fast development pace of digital communication channels and their quick adoption gives good reason to study their usability and necessity in internal communication. The aim of this thesis was to find the factors, which most affect 20 to 40-years old women’s buying behaviour of make-up products. The thesis has no commissioner as it would have limited the target group. The idea for this thesis arose from the author’s own interest in starting up a make-up import business. The main research question was about the factors influencing the final buying decision. In addition, the aim of the research was to find where the possible import should place and where to aim the marketing. The theoretical framework for this thesis included literature and web sources. The theoretical framework dealt with consumer buying behaviour, buying decision-making processes and also the factors of buying behaviour. Part of the thesis was also conducted as quantitative research carried out as an e-questionnaire distributed through Facebook. The questionnaire focused on the research question and also looked at how age influences a buying decision. The research showed that the main factors influencing women’s buying decisions were quality of the products, usability, social attitudes towards the products and also the price level. The research also showed that the most common demographic factors that usually influence buying behaviour do not always affect the buying behaviour of make-up products. As an outcome of this research, a new import business should target hypermarkets or cosmetics companies.Based on this research online stores were not popular for buying make-up....

The main goal of this thesis was to examine the definitions and regulations behind the criminalization of identity theft and to research its impact on the victim and how it is possible for the victim to prevent or protect themselves from identity theft crimes. The intent was to clarify what is the typical victim of an identity theft like, how the crime affects the victim physically, socially and financially and how it is possible for the victim to prevent becoming the victim of an identity theft or to protect themselves from the effects of an identity theft. The thesis is based on legal literature, legislative proposals of the government, directives and decrees of the European Union, newspaper articles, current legislation and partly the previous legislation for comparison purposes. Bibliography also includes statements and final reports of working committees. The thesis was approached from a legal dogmatic viewpoint and considered a comparison of criminalization and previous legislation, also through a comparative research method. While examining the status and impacts on the victim, a value-based interpretation was also used. The research began with the examination of identity, and the thesis was approached through inspection of the identity theft criminalization that came into effect in 2015. Identity thefts were examined not only from the traditional point of view, but also through network-based crimes. Along with the consistent growth and evolution of technology, the identity thefts taking place in social media for example have become more frequent and it has for its own part enabled and eased the acts of the said crimes. Because of the quantitative growth and the ease of committing such crimes, it is important for the victim to know how to protect themselves against identity theft and how to act if they are victimized regardless. The result of the thesis is a description of identity theft as a crime and the status and impact of the crime on the victim. The thesis offers different ways for the victim to prevent themselves becoming a victim and to protect themselves from the social and financial impacts of identity theft. Conclusions also address complexities regarding identity theft and their criminalization, and offers proposals of improvement to remove or decrease these said problems....

Muutosjohtaminen esimiehen näkökulmasta

Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli tutkia Etelä-Hämeen Osuuspankissa tapahtunutta organisaatiomuutosta esimiesten näkökulmasta, ja etsiä keinoja muutosjohtamisen kehittämiseen. Etelä-Hämeen Osuuspankissa alkoi fuusioituminen tammikuussa 2014, jonka vuoksi konttorien toimintatavat tuli yhdistää Etelä-Hämeen Osuuspankin toimintatavoiksi.
Opinnäytetyön tietoperustassa käsiteltiin muutosjohtamista, esimiestyön tukea muutoksen aikana sekä muutosviestintää. Tietoperustaa käsiteltiin enimmäkseen kotimaisten ja kansainvälisten lähteiden, kuten kirjojen ja artikkeleiden pohjalta. Muutosjohtamisessa perehdyttiin tarkemmin sen eri vaiheisiin, valmisteluun, suunnitteluun, toteutukseen ja vakiinnuttamiseen, jotta saatiin selville muutoksen johtamisesta vastaavan esimiehen roolit läpi koko muutoksen. Esimiestyön tukemisessa perehdyttiin ulkoisten tukimuotojen lisäksi itsensä johtamiseen. Tutkimuksen käytännön toteutusta suunniteltaessa teoreettista viitekehystä hyödynnettiin pääasiassa tutkimuksen kannalta olennaisimmasta, esimiehen näkökulmasta. Opinnäytetyön tutkimusmenetelmä on kvalitatiivinen eli laadullinen tutkimus. Tutkimusaineisto kerättiin teemahaastatteluilla. Haastateltaviksi valittiin kolme esimiestä, jotka olivat organisaatiomuutosten vuoksi vaihtaneet konttoria Etelä-Hämeen Osuuspankissa. Haastateltavien työnkuvat olivat myös osittain muuttuneet. Teemahaastattelut suoritettiin yksilöhaastatteluina lokakuussa 2016. Valitun tutkimusmetodin avulla voitiin saada yksityiskohtaista tietoa muutosjohtamisen eri osa-alueista sekä mahdollistaa tilanteellinen kysymyksenasettelu haastateltaville, joiden työnkuvat erosivat toisistaan. Teemahaastattelun teemoiksi määriteltiin tietoperustan pohjalta muutosjohtaminen muutoksen eri vaiheissa, muutosviestintä muutoksen johtamisen eri vaiheissa, esimiestyön tukeminen muutoksen johtamisen eri vaiheissa sekä neljänneksi teemaksi muutoksen jälkeinen tilanne ja arvio muutosprosessin onnistuneisuudesta.
Pankin toimintatapojen yhtenäistäminen oli esimiesten näkökulmasta hyvin ymmärrettävä syy organisaatiomuutoksille. Muuttamalla esimiesten työympäristöä voitiin tehokkaasti yhtenäistää toimintatapoja. Haasteita aiheuttivat työympäristön muutos ja esimiehen ja alaisen työskentely eri konttoreilla, mutta työnkuvan muuttuminen oli työympäristön muutosta suurempi haaste. Tutkimuksen tulosten perusteella esimiehen työnkuvan muuttuessa olisi tarpeellista perehdyttää ja valmentaa esimiestä uusiin työnkuviin juuri ennen muutosta, jotta muutos onnistuisi mahdollisimman vaivattomasti. Uudessa työympäristössä avoin ja aktiivinen kommunikointi oli merkittävässä roolissa muutoksen onnistumiseen ja mahdollisen muutosvastarinnan ennakointiin ja vähentämiseen. Kollegoilta saatu vertaistuki oli esimiehille merkittävin esimiestyön tuki muutoksen aikana. Toinen esimiestyön tuki muutoksen aikana olivat esimiesten kanssa käydyt keskustelut. Esimiehet pitivät tapahtunutta muutosta erittäin kannattavana ja kokevat siitä olevan hyötyä myös tulevaisuudessa. He oppivat muutoksen aikana laajentamaan omaa näkökulmaansa, erilaisten ihmisten johtamista sekä vastuun jakamista.
Opinnäytetyön avulla Etelä-Hämeen Osuuspankki voi kehittää esimiesten muutosjohtamista tietoperustan ja saatujen tulosten, johtopäätösten ja kehitysehdotusten pohjalta. Vaikka tutkimusta tarkasteltiin Etelä-Hämeen Osuuspankin näkökulmasta, voi sitä myös soveltaa vastaaviin muutosprosesseihin muissa Osuuspankeissa....

The purpose of this thesis was to analyze the profitability of investment plans for the case company and produce useful information about the necessary permissions to execute the investment plans. The objective was also to make recommendations for improving the profitability of the investments. A personal objective of the authors was also to acquire knowledge of the investment process and to learn about the opportunities and challenges of entrepreneurship. The theoretical content was gathered mainly from investment literature, which was used to conduct the investment calculations. In addition, content was derived about research methods, risk management and special features of the restaurant industry from relevant literature. The profitability of the investment plans was measured by using two traditional investment calculation methods and two modern investment calculation methods. These traditional methods were payback time and return on equity and the modern methods were net present value and internal rate of return. Observation, interview and benchmarking methods were utilized to solve the input values needed for the investment calculations. The observation method was used to estimate the number of customers to make the sales estimation. Interviews and benchmarking were used to make the costs estimation of the investments. As shown by the results of the investment calculations the investment plans are worth implementing, because the objectives of the case company would be fulfilled, although sensitivity analysis indicated several factors that could cause the investment to become unprofitable if the objectives of the case company remain the same. The sensitivity analysis indicated that the investment has a number of risks, but also a lot of potential. As development proposals, the case company is recommended to optimize its labour force and opening hours to meet demand caused by seasonal fluctuation during the year, since the labour force is clearly the major cost of the business. To minimize the risks, it is also recommended to proceed step by step, for example opening one stall at a time. According to the theory, most of the successful companies in the restaurant industry invest in a quality image rather than in low prices, which should be noted by the case company. This thesis succeeded in its purpose and the representative of the case company received an Excel file, which includes all the calculations and which is modifiable for different kinds of scenarios about the investment plans. The case company can also utilize the Excel file to compare the realized numbers with the estimations. The thesis includes a lot of useful information and calculations regarding the implementation of the investment plans. The case company was satisfied with the results of this thesis project....
