The subject of this thesis is the usage of a corporate blog as a tool in corporate image communication. The mandator of this thesis is an internal counselling service of Laurea University of Applied Sciences. The service, DigiTeam, specializes in digital learning environments, system knowledge, and visual communications. The study question in this thesis is to chart how corporate blog and blogging need to be executed in order to support corporate communications of the client. The theoretical background is divided into three segments: corporate communications, blog, and image communication as a part of corporate and professional blogging. The segment that examines corporate communications focuses on corporate communication and its future, as well as how corporate communication affects corporate image. The segment that focuses on blog, examines the history of blogs, what are considered beneficial elements in a blog, as well as corporate blogging and its benefits and challenges. The third segment examines how image communication can be applied to corporate blogging and why employees play a significant role in companies’ social media as individuals. The purpose of this study was to determine what kind of practices award-winning corporate blogs and Finland’s leading communication, advertising, and marketing agencies have. The study aimed to analyse what the best elements in existing blog are, and how the collected knowledge can be utilised in building the client’s blog. The study also aimed to improve the gap in the relationship between blogging and image communication. The study method was benchmarking, and a content analysis was conducted to determine the results. The study examined the closely connected concepts of image communication and user satisfaction, as well as the elements that affect them. Related to image communication, those elements were expertise and conversation, and regarding user satisfaction, presentation of knowledge, navigation, and visual aspects. Based on the findings, a framework was created, allowing the client to develop their blog and blog communication in the future. It is important to show expertise in the blog by introducing the writers to the readers, and enabling both commenting and sharing features. The data needs to be introduced in a way that is skimmable, readable, and entertaining to the reader. Surprisingly, based on the study, navigation is not viewed as an important element, even though the theoretical framework leads to understand that it is a critical factor of user satisfaction. Regarding visual aspects, it was defined, which elements have been found essential in corporate blogs and how they were arranged. The purpose of this thesis is to determine the benefits of the Press Officers degree in a terms of the kinds of benefits the degree can provide and the perceived benefit of the degree to its graduates. The aim was also to find out if the graduates had actually benefited from the training in their working life, particularly from the perspective of enjoyment of the work, career and professional skills. The scientific knowledge base discusses such concepts as lifelong learning person’s responsibility to educate him- or herself, motivation and studying as an adult. A qualitative research method was used in the research with a survey conducted by an e-mail interview utilising open questions. The questions were related to the education experience and the kinds of benefits they may have got from it, including whether they had developed their professional expertise; whether the education had affected their career development, or had it an impact on work duties; whether the respondents felt that their work had become more meaningful; and whether the graduates had received new tools or information for their work. The collected data were analysed by categorising the responses according to themes. The research result was that the education seems to increase work-related skills, confidence at works and knowhow in work. In the open responses it was the most frequently mentioned that graduates had received new information, skills at work and that education had had a positive effect on their confidence at work. So it also increased the perceived meaningfulness of the work, and gave new ideas for the work....

Valmentavan johtamisen mahdollisuudet ravintola-alan ketjuyrityksessä

Tämän opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli selvittää kohdeyrityksen johtamisen nykytilaa ja sitä, soveltuisivatko valmentavan johtamisen metodit kyseiselle ketjuyritykselle, joka toimii ravintola-alalla. Tarkoitus oli myös selvittää, näkyykö valmentava johtaminen jo nyt jollain muotoa kohdeyrityksessä ja miten valmentamista hyödyntämällä voisi osaamista, johtamista ja johtamisen apuvälineitä, kuten kehityskeskustelua, kehittää.
Opinnäytetyön teoreettinen viitekehys rakentuu suurilta osin valmentavan johtamismallin ympärille. Valmentava johtaminen on yksi tämän hetken suurimmista johtamistrendeistä. Teoriaosuudessa käsitellään myös palautteenantoa sekä kehityskeskusteluprosessia. Opinnäytetyön tietoperustassa on hyödynnetty alan kirjallisuutta sekä verkkolähteitä ja artikkeleja.
Empiirinen osuus pyrkii saavuttamaan opinnäytetyön tavoitteet ja löytämään vastauksia neljään tutkimuskysymykseen, jotka liittyvät pääosin valmentavaan johtamiseen. Opinnäytetyön empiirinen osuus suoritettiin laadullisena tutkimuksena käyttäen teemahaastattelua pääasiallisena aineistonkeruumenetelmänä. Tutkimusryhmään kuuluivat kohdeyrityksen ravintolapäälliköt ja heidän esimiehensä. Tutkimukseen haastateltiin kuutta henkilöä. Tutkimusaineisto litteroitiin ja sitä analysoitiin teemoittelemalla. Tutkimus toteutettiin kaikilta osin eettisesti.
Empiirisen tutkimuksen tulokset jaoteltiin kolmeen teemaan: johtamisen nykytila ja osaamisen kehittäminen, valmentava johtaminen nyt ja tulevaisuudessa sekä kehityskeskustelut nyt ja tulevaisuudessa. Tuloksista selvisi, että kohdeyrityksen esimiesten johtamistavoissa sekä osaamistasossa on merkittäviä eroja toimipaikasta ja henkilöstä riippuen. Valmentavan johtamisen metodeita ei yrityksessä juurikaan oltu tähän mennessä hyödynnetty, mutta niistä oltiin esimiestasolla kiinnostuneita. Kehityskeskustelut nähtiin hyödyllisinä, mutta toisaalta kaikki esimiehet eivät niitä osanneet käyttää kovin tehokkaasti johtamisen apuvälineenä. Lisäksi kehityskeskustelun kysymyslomakkeen koettiin olevan päivittämisen tarpeessa.
Tärkeä kehittämiskohde yrityksellä on tutkimuksen perusteella etenkin osaamisen kehittämisessä. Valmentavan johtamisen malli voisi soveltua kohdeyritykselle, mutta sen käyttöönotto vaatisi ensin lisäselvityksiä ja -tutkimuksia, huomattavia muutoksia työskentelytavoissa ja asenteissa sekä taloudellista panostamista. Toisaalta valmentava johtaminen todennäköisesti lisäisi henkilöstön sitoutuneisuutta ja motivaatiota. Opinnäytetyön tekijä laati kohdeyritykselle myös ehdotuksen uudeksi kehityskeskustelulomakkeeksi. Orientation Guide : Kirpputori Kukkaro This Bachelor’s thesis examines the orientation process in the case company Kirpputori Kukkaro which is a small flea market run by an entrepreneur. The aim of the study was to create an orientation guide for the case company that could be used with new employees starting in the company. The purpose of the study was to see how the orientation process currently worked in the case-organization and how it could be improved by using written material to support the orientation process. For this reason, the present thesis examines the orientation process in the company and the outcome which is a written orientation guide that can be found as an attachment on this thesis. When looked from this angle the aim of the study was to create an orientation guide that would be there to help new employees and the instructor in the orientation process. The thesis consists of a theoretical section that focuses on the theory behind orientation and the empirical section that focuses on the case-organization. The study was a qualitative study since the case-organization is small and the most important material was collected through interviews made in the organization. There were two people interviewed for the study who worked in the case-organization. The entrepreneur who oversees the orientation of the new employees and a part time employee. This way the information would be gathered from the view of the orientation instructor and the new employee. The questions where open answer question. The material for the theoretical section was found in literature focusing on orientation. Additionally, this thesis also uses different online sources, articles, legal regulations as a material for the thesis and the thesis writers own experiment with the orientation process. The information gathered from the interviews were analysed by using the SWOT analysis. From the analysed interview results it is cleat to see how the literal orientation material could help the orientation process in the case-organization. Based on the analysis one can see the strengths of the company’s orientation process and the points that needed to be improved. The company already had a personal approach for the orientation that was liked with the employees. Another strength for the company was their follow ups on how the orientation was going. Even though the company had a lot of good in their orientation the entrepreneur wanted to have literal material that would bring more structure to the orientation process. This thesis examined the financial literacy of the students at Laurea University of Applied Sciences through a survey. The quantitative study was carried out with a multiple-choice e-survey. Students were asked about interest, inflation and risks. Students also graded them-selves on their financial literacy. The survey also determined with whom the students speak to about personal money matters. In all there were 685 responses to the survey. In the study students were divided into groups according to their age. 18-20-years-old referred to student who still live at home or are soon moving out; 21-23 years-old were considered to be nearly independent and 24-years-old as independent. The field of study was also asked in the questionnaire to establish if there is a correlation between it and managing financial literacy. The thesis found that students evaluated their skills as satisfactory. Most of the students had understood how a bank account’s interest rate operates. 73 % of students answered the question regarding inflation correctly. Questions about investing and risks were the most challenging and the amount of correct answers decreased. When students were asked whom high risk profile investment is suitable for, only 2 % of students answered correctly. Students also needed to identify which is riskier: investing in funds or shares, with a little less than half answering correctly. Out of all the returned surveys (n= 685), six were totally correct. Business students believed in their financial literacy more than others, but they did not succeed any better than others. Also men graded themselves better than women did. However, in general, men were not significantly better than women. Answers were obtained from every field of study but the amount of answers varied and it was not possible to make any correlations. Instagram-markkinoinnin tutkiminen : case: Elämyslahjat Oy

Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena oli tutkia ja kerätä erilaisia tekniikoita, joiden avulla Elämyslahjat voi saavuttaa yhä enemmän potentiaalisia asiakkaita Instagramissa. Tarkoituksena oli saada erilaisia tutkimusmenetelmiä hyödyntäen yritykselle selkeä ja toimiva ratkaisu Instagram-markkinointiin. Opinnäytetyö oli laadittu toimeksiantona Elämyslahjat Oy:lle.
Opinnäytetyön tietoperusta koostui sosiaaliseen mediaan ja markkinointiin liittyvästä kirjallisuudesta, artikkeleista, internetlähteistä sekä aiheeseen liittyvistä laeista. Opinnäytetyön tietoperustassa käsiteltiin sosiaalista mediaa, visuaalista markkinointia, yrityksen brändiä sekä Instagramia ja sen käyttöä.
Tässä opinnäytetyössä käytettiin menetelmänä e-lomaketta. E-lomakkeessa kartoitettiin Elämyslahjojen asiakkaiden, Facebook-kavereiden sekä Digitalist Network -yhteisön käsityksiä Instagramista ja mainonnasta kyseisessä kanavassa.
Tutkimustulosten perusteella seuraajia houkuttelivat sekä profiilin kuvat ja kuvaus että tekstit. Erityisesti luontoaiheiset, arkipäiväiset sekä taiteelliset kuvat houkuttelevat vastaajia Instagramissa. Vastaajat seurasivat muun muassa kavereitaan, julkisuuden henkilöitä ja bloggaajia. Lisäksi vastaajat seurasivat muun muassa outdoor-tyylisiä sekä harrastuksiin ja tatuointeihin liittyviä profiileja. Suurin osa vastaajista kertoi, etteivät Instagramin mainokset häirinneet heitä.
Tutkimustulosten perusteella esitettiin Elämyslahjoille kehitysehdotus Instagram-markkinointiin. Johtopäätöksinä voitiin siis todeta, että profiilin kuvauksesta tulisi löytyä tärkeimmät asiat yrityksestä sekä heidän oma hashtag (#elämyslahjat). Lisäksi vastauksista tuli ilmi, että kommentteihin reagoiminen oli tärkeää....

Projektinhallinnan tehostaminen yrityksessä X

Tässä opinnäytetyössä kartoitettiin yhden businessyksikön projektinhallinnan vahvuudet ja kehityskohteet haastattelemalla kyseisen yksikön kaikki projektipäälliköt. Tarve projektinhallinnan parantamiselle tuli ilmi asiakaspalautteessa, joka on myös otettu tutkimuksessa huomioon. Opinnäytetyö pyrki vastaamaan tutkimuskysymykseen: Mitä organisaation nykyisessä projektinhallinnassa on parannettava?
Teoriaosuudessa määriteltiin, mikä on projekti, sen eri tyypit ja sen hyödyt organisaatiolle. Teoriaosuudessa tarkasteltiin sekä perinteistä projektia että kahta tunnetuinta ketterää mallia, Scrumia ja Kanbania. Perinteisen projektimallin osuudessa keskityttiin tarkastelemaan projektin elinkaarta ja kuhunkin vaiheeseen liittyviä tehtäviä. Ketterillä malleilla pyrittiin havainnollistamaan, mihin projektinhallinta on matkalla, varsinkin tuotekehitysprojekteissa. Teoriaosuuden tarkoitus oli esitellä teorioiden mukaista tehokasta projektinhallintaa.
Teoriaosuudessa tuotiin esille myös projektin kommunikointi. Kommunikointi nostettiin esille omana aiheenaan asiakkaan palautteen perusteella. Asiakaspalautteessa kommunikointi oli havaittu yhdeksi ongelma-alueeksi. Kommunikoinnin teoria pyrki valottamaan, mitä kaikkea projektikommunikointiin kuuluu.
Opinnäytetyön varsinainen tutkimus tehtiin teemahaastatteluna. Seitsemän projektipäällikköä haastateltiin ja haastatteluista listattiin sisältöanalyysin menetelmin projektipäälliköiden mielestä oleellisimmat vahvuudet ja kehittämiskohteet. Tutkimuksessa kartoitettiin myös ne seikat, jotka projektipäälliköt kokevat voimaannuttavina. Tutkimusta täydennettiin henkilöstökyselystä saaduilla avoimilla kommenteilla, jotka analysoitiin sisältöanalyysin menetelmin.
Opinnäytetyön lopussa on ehdotettu kolmea tutkimuksen nostamaa kehityskohdetta otettavaksi organisaation kehitysprojektiin. Kehityskohteille on ehdotettu keinoja, jolla projektinhallintaa saadaan tehokkaammaksi kyseisillä ongelma-alueilla.
Lopputyö antaa hyvän kuvan organisaation projektien nykytilasta. Lopputyön tarjoaman tiedon perusteella organisaatio voi priorisoida kehityskohteet ja kehittää toimintaa pitkäjänteisesti sekä hyödyntää vahvuudet paremmin....
