The purpose of the functional portfolio thesis was to create a new visual look for Vanico Oy to attract new customers and create a recognizable visual appearance among Finnish transportation companies. In addition, the aim of the thesis was to include Vanico’s design concept in a personal portfolio to showcase visual design skills and to attract potential employers. The method of analyzing the competitors helped to identify Vanico Oy’s strengths and weakness in order to create a more functional design and a memorable image for the company. The use of brainstorming helped to determine the corporate identity. To create a full-fledged website, an intensive web design course was completed on the Tilda platform. For the thesis a total of three online resources were developed. The completed design concept met the commissioner's expectations and goals. This functional thesis can utilized as an example for students who have the opportunity to work in the development and implementation of similar projects. The purpose of this paper was to examine how the family leave reform coming into effect this fall will improve social equality and egalitarianism. The paper focused on reviewing how the reform affects practical decisions made by families, only briefly looking at the structural framework. The thesis aims to compare the old and new family leave models, how they affect equality, and to specify those features of the new model which improve equality. It was discussed in the conclusion how the new model might still be improved regarding equality. The definitions section discussed what the laws regarding social equality contain and how they have developed. As background for the examination of family leaves, the thesis used social science research and sociology of law, through which the impact of the justice system on social structures will be examined. The primary sources of the thesis were materials for drafting laws and other official sources, and various works of literature and research on law and social studies. To support the examination of social equality, the author has studied materials that aim to understand on the challenges of using family leave for diverse families. Based on the results the new more flexible family leave model on principle enables a more egalitarian distribution of family leave and allows for both parents to achieve work-life balance. However, the scant adjustments made to labour law threaten to hamper the family leave reform, leading to the true purpose of the reform, namely a more equal distribution of leave between the parents, practically unfulfilled. Especially important is the fact that the right to breastfeeding breaks was not codified into labour contract law alongside the reform. In the end, the flexible family leave for both parents build foundations for social equality and a more egalitarian distribution of family leave, which in time will normalise longer family leaves even for the fathers. The family leave reform has prioritised families with two parents, which weakens the development of social equality. It is good that the right to family leave is tied to the child and not to how many parents the child has. Single-parent households have the same amount of leave as two-parent households. However, in households with more than two parents, as is the case with co-parenting, polygamy, or blended families, the family leave is not distributed equally to all social parents. The equality in returning to the workforce for single-parent households is still problematic even after the reform. Diverse forms of families could have been considered better in the reform, guaranteeing all parents equal rights to childcare and work....
