Case: Conscious Surferin tunnettuuden lisääminen Instagramissa
(Laurea-ammattikorkeakoulu, 2018)
Tutkimuksen tavoitteena oli selvittää, miten lisätä Conscious Surfer Instagram -tilille tunnettuutta Instagramissa ja saada lisää seuraajia ja tykkäyksiä siellä jaetulle sisällölle. Tutkimus tehtiin toimeksiantona Hannamari Sarkkiselle, henkilölle...
The aim of the study was to find out how to add popularity to the Conscious Surfer Instagram account and to get more followers and likes on shared content. The study was commissioned by Hannamari Sarkkinen, the person behind the Conscious Surfer Instagram account. According to Robert Cialdini people can be influenced by using six principles of persuasion, of which three were selected to this study: reciprocity, social proof, and authority. Reciprocity is one of the most powerful and comprehensive social forces, regardless of the culture. People have a strong need to repay. The advice obtained can be considered as a gift and will be paid back for example in the form of following or liking on Instagram. Social pressure plays a major role in influencing people. People are watching and copying other people around them. This is to achieve consistency, and therefore a person’s own behavior is altered to reflect the behavior of others. They are confident that behaving and thinking like the others, will lead them to make good decisions. Experts, that is to say authorities, are found reliable especially when uncertainty or the complexity of things make choices and decisions difficult. People believe in experts because they are considered to know more about things. That is why they seem credible and trustworthy. These factors are found appealing. A qualitative study was conducted as a case study by sharing three of the same images on Conscious Surfer’s Instagram account. The aim was to study the impact of the three influential principles on gaining followers to test which method would increase popularity the most. The exact same picture was shared three different times, but the text under the image was different every time reflecting the three persuasion principles, reciprocity, social proof and authority. Results were collected manually, counting the likes and gained followers. The results showed that the number of followers increased up to 130 after the first picture using reciprocity. After the social proof message, the number was declined to 127 and after the third post, using the authority message, the number of followers decreased to 121, which was the starting point of the experiment. The image with the text social pressure got the most likes, 36, reciprocity gathered 33 likes and authority 25 likes. Based on the results and the methodology used in this research it can be concluded that sharing new content will result in a quick gain in followers but does not guarantee keeping followers for the long term. The different principles used did not show significant impact and no principle was more effective than the other in this case. During the experiment it was noted that many Instagram users are trying to increase their popularity by starting to follow an account with the aim to gain more followers and stop following if their aim is not met. Through storytelling a personal brand can be created, the focus of which should be in creating similarity in which the target audience could easily identify themselves to. Similarity leads to increased acceptance. Emotions can easily affect our judgment and personal branding might suffer from these emotionally driven decisions. This might lead into ignoring the needs of the target audience, which would affect the activity in a negative way. Knowing the existence of such mechanisms helps in keeping a clear focus and leads towards better decision-making....

PSD2, Pankkiliiketoiminta murroksessa
(Laurea-ammattikorkeakoulu, 2018)
vaikuttavat rahoitusalalla käynnissä olevaan muutokseen ja miten alalla toimivat yhtiöt reagoivat muutokseen. Tutkimusmenetelmänä käytetään laadullista tutkimusta, jossa haastateltiin viiden eri pankkiryhmän edustajaa. Teoreettisessa viitekehyksessä...
The purpose of this thesis is to explore how the second payment directive is affecting the Finnish banking sector. The aim is to understand what kind of change is taking place in the financial industry because of the PSD2 directive, what the change drivers that have effect on the change are and how the companies operating in the financial sector are going to react to it. The research method is a qualitative research, which includes interviews of five representatives of Finnish banking groups. The theoretical framework will focus on the financial industry and the parties that operate in it. The theoretical framework will also focus on financial regulation, technological evolution and trends that have an effect on how people consume services. The PSD2 directive will change the norm that only the account-servicing banks have access to the customer information. The PSD2 directive requires that account-servicing banks must provide access for third party providers to customer accounts via application programming interface. PSD2 brings two new payment service providers within the scope of regulation. These service providers are account information service providers and payment initiation service providers. Account-servicing banks can also provide application programming interfaces that the regulation does not require banks to provide. By doing so, banks can create a new source of income by charging third party providers for these application programming interfaces. The research revealed that banks do not consider the PSD2 regulation to be an industry changing force. The banks that were interviewed considered it more of a change accelerator that would take place even without the directive. Banks think that changes in consumer behavior and technological evolution will turn the financial industry to operate with more open-business models and become more consumer-focused. The research revealed that banks have very different strategies in how they will counter the changes in the operational environment that the directive creates. Especially larger banks have adopted more of an open-business model in which banks provide wider access to application programming interfaces for third party providers than what the regulation requires. Smaller banks have taken a more cautious approach and they will mainly focus on fulfilling the regulation requirements. According to the study, it seems that the development in the financial industry is leading to more Open banking –minded business models. The fear for banks is that they will lose direct contact to customers and take the role of being a background service provider. For this reason, banks look for new opportunities that allow them to keep their place in the value chain....

Keinukallion liikuntapuiston asiakaslähtöinen kehittäminen
(Laurea-ammattikorkeakoulu, 2018)
Opinnäytetyöni tavoitteena oli selvittää millaisena käyttäjät kokevat alueen ja löytää kehitysehdotuksia Keinukallion liikuntapuiston toiminnoille. Kehitystyö toteutettiin havainnoimalla kuuden käyttäjän toimintaa alueella. Tutkimushenkilöt kulkivat...
The objective of my thesis was to clarify how the users experience the area and to find developing ideas to the Keinukallio activity park. The development work was carried out by observing the ac-tivities of six users in the area. The people I studied moved around the area as usual while I observed their habits. Futhermore, I recorded development ideas that emerged in the discussions and the strengths of the area. I sought interaction to the development work with users in the workshop. In the observation phase and in the workshop I had different users so that I would get as many different views as possible. The aforementioned realization was supported by an inquiry to the users of the area that was executed in February 2016. With these research methods, I got the idea of the customer-oriented developing of the area. I have utilized material to outdoor recreation, physical education and nature as a theoretical frame of reference of the study. The Keinukallio activity park is also a nature park, which offers aesthetically pleasing areas, and in this way, it provides wellbeing to some users. In the theory part, I discuss the obligations and of the objectives in Finland's government platform and different laws have on municipalities. The most central result of my thesis was that the users do not wish for more functions to be built in the area, but they want the current functions to be slightly repaired and improved. They hoped for example for more guide signs about the area, an extension to the running stairs, repairs to make the challenging sections of the cross-ski track safer, better lighting and a cross-country cycling rou-te. The development of area services was requested as the amount of people that use the area increases. In the development of the Keinukallio activity park, attention should be paid to the breakage in our society. My opinion is that today's young people (under 18 year-olds) go through a new kind of era. A similar transition was seen in the people who were born around 1920's, and again in those who were born during the 1970s and 80s. The new technology and working methods have brought different needs and wishes to the inhabitants of the municipality. In the development of Keinukal-lio activity services, we must also acknowledge the challenges and opportunities presented by climate change. I see the future as an objective of the Keinukallio activity park to fit together a ver-satile area while taking care of the nature and respecting area history. The parklike area is the outdoorsy person's landscape, a place for various activities and hobbies. I see the area as the living room of Kerava, a place to spend time in a group or by alone....

Pankkialan operatiiviset riskit tulevaisuudessa
(Laurea-ammattikorkeakoulu, 2018)
riskiä ja niiden hallintakeinot. Tutkimus antaa kokonaiskuvan tulevaisuuden näkökulmista operatiivisten riskien tunnistamisessa ja hallinnoinnissa. Opinnäytetyö on hyödynnettävissä yleisesti organisaatioissa riskienhallinnan kehittämisen tukena....
The purpose of this study is to examine the future of the banking industry in Finland from the perspective of operational risks. The aim of this research is to examine with the help of experts the future views in the risk industry and to create a better insight of how the future looks and how operational risks can be managed. The theory section focuses on the financial industry from the perspective of banking, future forecasts and the definition of risk, risk management and operational risk. In the research section the aim was to produce information about the topic that can be used for identification and manage-ment of operational risks in the future. The main research data acquisition was conducted using the Delfoi-method by providing five future propositions to be evaluated by chosen panelists. The results of the study showed that combining the future perspective and risk management is still challenging. Digitalization brings its own challenges to risk management, special expertise of the employees will become a competitive asset, customers will pay increasing attention to sustainability and banking will still be considered as a confidential relationship between people, which therefore cannot be digitalized. The conclusion was that there are four clear themes that must be responded from the future perspective of risk management. These themes are digitalization and services moving online, which brings challenges from the perspective of online security, open cooperation and sharing of information will become a competitive asset, focusing of risk management will require a combination of robotics and humans, and sustainable entrepreneurship will become stronger. As an outcome of this study, a concept of possible future operational risks was gained, as well as risk management methods. The study provides an overview into the perspectives of the future of operational risk identification and management, and is also publicly available to give support to be utilized in the development of risk management in organizations....

Working life is in constant change. With changing business environments and rapid development, experts need to develop, inspire and even direct the future. The subject of the study is the development services of the City of Helsinki culture and leisure sector. The unit was established in 2017 during organizational change. The thesis analyzed the stage of the change the unit is now and how to get to the next level. The thesis also researched how experts experience their new work identity and their role. In addition, the thesis studied what motivation and work enjoyment consist of. As a result of this information, the unit supervisors will get a data packet for taking necessary measures and strengthening the unit. The study was conducted as a case study. The research methods were initial interview, a network survey and a group discussion. In addition, the research utilized the writer's observations in a group discussion session and spontaneous discussions about the subject in the working environment. The theoretical framework is multilateral due to the diversity of the subject. The framework focuses on change, the creation of work identity, motivation and work enjoyment. The results showed that the unit is considered to be communal and work enjoyment is already experienced. The work identity and role is still fragmented and they require some clarification for some of the experts. On the other hand, motivation and work enjoyment, as well as job engagement, were already felt on a satisfactory level, but there is still room for improvement. According to the study, the challenges are at a higher level than what they should be according to experts. The proposal for further development is the SWOT analysis of the professional identity and well-being of experts. Through these, everyone can observe their own development targets and strengths and thus gain professional growth. The results of the study confirm the results of previous studies. It is natural that there are more challenges in the transformation phase, motivation may even fall and the new job identity may still seem unclear. During the consolidation phase of change, these ambiguities have made progress towards more persistent practices. In order to advance change towards consolidation, the supervisors play an important role as a sparring and enabling but each expert can also influence it with his own attitude and behavior....

The objective of the thesis was to take a step forward in the development of the vocational training towards the new vision and legislation of vocational education. Vocational education aims to be more entrepreneurship-minded, to be customer-oriented and to provide versatile knowledge which is needed in the future. The training provider Keuda is the mandator of the thesis. A summer training program was developed for Keuda’s hair and beauty training programs to add flexibility to the vocational studies. The summer training program also responds to the need of training opportunities in the vocations. The theory section focuses on the development of the working life and education. The thesis finds out what kind of qualifications are needed in the future in order to develop the vocational education. The meaning of vision and change management are examined with the vision of vocational training and need for change. The summer training program was developed in an action research using different research methods. Benchmarking was used to gain information about the working life related training methods currently in use in beauty studies. The students were involved in the backcasting-method as they planned their ideal training surrounding for the future. Keuda’s teachers were also active in the research and planning of the summer training program. Four different models were developed for the summer training program. The models are implementable in different vocational training surroundings. The new possibilities of the changing legislation and the results of the research methods were used to develop the models. According to the models, the students can train in the summer program as entrepreneurs, with an apprenticeship contract or a regular training contract. A summer training pilot was launched as a part of the active research. The training contract model was chosen for the pilot and the students were rewarded according to their activity. The sufficient amount of student participators made the model profitable. In the feedback the students felt that the summer training program was an important opportunity for them to train the skills needed in working life. Almost all of the students hoped that the summer training program would be made available for a longer period of time. Entrepreneurship will be promoted in the future development of the program. The models created for summer education are portable to other vocational training programs. The active research gives other vocations one example of how vocational education can be developed to enhance the flexibility and work-related activity of the studies in order to move towards the vision of vocational education....
