This thesis was commissioned Laurea University of Applied Sciences as a development assignment. The purpose of the thesis was to create a manual for hospitality management students’ new learning environment and Laurea Living Lab, BarLab. BarLab is a bar class, which is meant to be used as a working life-oriented learning environment for hospitality students. The objective of the thesis is to create a manual to help teaching and using BarLab. The manual includes the common rules of the class and short instructions on how to operate the different parts of BarLab. The frame of reference of the thesis reviews study environments, such as Living Labs and bar classes and how they work. Interviews were used for data gathering in learning environments. Each interview was made in their respective learning environment. The interviews were based on themes. Two questionnaires were designed for the interviews for bar classes and for Laurea Living Labs. The data from the interviews was analyzed by literature-based analysis. The differences between the learning environments were analyzed in a theme table. The best operating models were collected from the materials and they were suited for the manual. The manual for BarLab is the outcome of the thesis. The manual includes information on how BarLab works, who are responsible for BarLab, the storages of BarLab, how to manage the waste and how to use the machines in BarLab. The manual and the thesis are created as two different documents. The thesis includes the material collection for the manual and the results of the interviews. The manual is appended to the thesis. Further development ideas for BarLab were a Living Lab manual and a survey about the interest in education of Laurea’s external parties....

The purpose of the thesis was to improve the recruitment process of the case company and to investigate how employees perceive the recruitment process, employee experience, and well-being within the organization. The goal was to implement a functional recruitment process that supports employee experience in the case organization. Additionally, through research interviews, the aim was to assess the current state of employee experience and well-being. Simultaneously, there was an aspiration to strengthen the employer brand of the case company. The thesis was conducted as a qualitative research study with development included in the case study. The research methods employed included thematic interviews and content analysis. The theoretical framework drew upon various sources relevant literature and specialized companies within the field. Eight employees from the case organization were interviewed, providing in-depth insights into employee experience, a crucial factor of success of any company. Through the analysis of the interview data, areas for development were identified, particularly in supervisor work, salary and compensation, communication and guidelines, as well as training opportunities. Based on these development ideas and by following an effective recruitment process, the case company has the potential to build a better employee experience and employer brand for the future, thereby enhancing workplace well-being and satisfaction....

The purpose of this thesis was to conduct a research and to create development proposals for change management on the basis of the research results. The commissioner of this thesis wanted to stay anonymous and the company is referred to Case X for that reason. The commissioner wanted help with how to motivate employees with changes. The theoretical framework of the thesis reviews theories of management, leadership and change management. The thesis examined change management with the help of John Paul Kotter’s 8-step change management theory. The collecting of the research material was carried out by using a Google Form-platform-based web survey. After collecting the survey answers the material was analyzed. After the results had been analuzed, started the planning of the development proposals for the commissioner. Creative problem solving, 8x8 method and idea map were used to create development proposals. The thesis was implemented as a functional thesis and the oucome is four different development proposals that were esatblished on the basis of the results from the survey. The development proposals were “Communication”, “Leadership”, “Management” and “Change Leader-profile”. The proposals aim at an entirety that combine elements of change management. With the proposals the commissioner has an ability to develop change management processes and to achieve set goals. The commissioner experienced that the thesis has feasible ideas and work has already been begun to execute the proposals. Particularly the Change Leader profile was liked by the commissioner, because it is important to recognize the fact that also on the management level education is needed for change management....
