Iho on ihmisen suurin elin.

Abstract
Background and aims
Purpose in life is associated consistently with accelerometer-measured physical activity assessed concurrently. This research addresses the longitudinal relation between purpose and accelerometry-measured physical activity among older adults.
Methods
Participants from the National Health and Aging Trends Study (N = 747; Meanage = 79.20) reported on their purpose and wore an accelerometer at four annual assessments. Physical activity was quantified with four metrics: total activity counts, number of active bouts, activity fragmentation, and sedentary fragmentation.
Results
Consistent with cross-sectional associations, purpose at baseline was associated prospectively with the four metrics measured one and two years later (median β = .08) but attenuated for two of the metrics at year three. Baseline purpose was associated with the intercept of physical activity but not change across the assessments. Within-person, participants were more physically active at assessments when their purpose was higher than their average.
Conclusions
Purpose in life is a short-term prospective and within-person predictor of physical activity but is unrelated to the rate of change in accelerometer-measured physical activity over three years in older adulthood.

The Impact of Climate Change on Mosquito-Borne Disease Distribution across the Global North and Global South : A Scoping Review
Kibatha, Ngina
This study aimed at mapping themes detailing how climate change influences global health, particularly mosquito ecology and the spread of mosquito-borne diseases across the Global South against the Global North. The study’s primary objective is to analyze how climate change interacts with socioeconomic factors to influence health outcomes through specific aims. The aims include comparing shifts in the incidence rate of mosquito-borne diseases (MBDs) across emerging climatic conditions in the Global North (GN) and Global South (GS) regions, analyzing how contextual factors mediate the impacts of climate change on MBD distribution across the Global North and Global South, and exploring ongoing health and policy interventions in response to the influence of climate change on mosquito-borne disease dynamics across GN and GS.

The study utilizes the Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) Theory and the Ecological Theory as its theoretical frameworks. These theories help to show how socioeconomic conditions mediate the impact of the emerging climate change-driven MBD burden and response measures in GS and GN. PICO guides the formulation of the research questions and inclusion/exclusion criteria. The study uses Arksey and O’Malley’s framework for scoping reviews to report the data identification and selection process. The five-step framework informs the organization of the methods section. On the other hand, the PRISMA 2020 guidelines and flowchart are used to guide the source screening process. The selected sources are then evaluated using the QuADS Appraisal to gauge the quality of the selected sources. The primary analysis method is thematic analysis. Thematic analysis is used due to its ability to depict patterns of meanings within datasets, aligning with the scoping reviews to focus on mapping the body of evidence that supports the phenomenon in question.

Key findings indicate that climate change is making MBDs a global health issue, with previously unaffected temperate regions suffering from MBD outbreaks. Projected climate change shows that MBDs are poised to become an even greater global health risk. However, the impact of the MBD burden is mediated by socioeconomic factors. The Global South is most affected and burdened by the emerging MBD burden driven by climate change due to poor surveillance and monitoring systems and the lack of supportive policies and regulations. In contrast, the Global North has managed to mitigate the impact of MBDs due to the inclusion of climate-related data in surveillance systems and the resulting response measures.

This study recommends region-specific response measures, interregional collaboration and knowledge transfer, and support systems to mitigate disparities across GS and GN in MBD risks driven by climate change.

Kestävän kehityksen edistäminen patistaa organisaatioita hahmottamaan aiempaa enemmän toimintansa vaikutuksia taloudellisten näkökulmien lisäksi myös ekologisiin ja sosiaalisiin seikkoihin. Minkälaisia uusia kompetensseja saattavat tietoasiantuntijan tarvita tulevaisuudessa näiden toteuttamiseen?
