Metsäkylpyjä japanilaisille hyvinvointimatkailijoille : Tuoteaihio LUOTUO-hankkeelle

Abstract

Opinnäytetyömme avulla kartoitettiin Etelä-Savon alueelle operoivien japanilaisten matkanjärjestäjien kysyntää hyvinvointimatkailuun perustuville tuotteille. Työmme toimeksiantajana toimi Mikkelin ammattikorkeakoulun LUOTUO-hanke. Työmme tavoitteena oli luoda tuoteaihio LUOTUO-hankkeelle ja siinä mukana olevalle yritykselle perustuen japanilaiselta matkanjärjestäjältä saatuihin vastauksiin. Opinnäytetyömme teoreettisen viitekehyksen muodostavat hyvinvointimatkailu ja tuotekehitys, sekä elämyksellisyys itse tuoteaihion luomisessa.

Käytimme opinnäytetyössämme kvalitatiivisen tutkimuksen menetelmiä. Teemahaastattelu käytiin englanniksi sähköpostin välityksellä kolmessa osassa heinä-syyskuussa 2015. Tuoteaihion luomisessa käytimme apuna Robert G. Cooperin luomaa tuotekehityksen porttimallia.

Tutkimuksemme avulla saimme selville, että japanilainen matkanjärjestäjä ja hänen asiakkaansa odottavat hyvinvointimatkailulta etenkin rentoutumista ja luonnossa liikkumista. Tämän perusteella loimme metsäkylpyihin perustuvan tuoteaihion LUOTUO-hankkeelle ja mikkeliläiselle Anttolanhovi-matkailuyritykselle. Tuoteaihio koostuu majoitus- ja ravintolapalveluista sekä ohjatusta metsäkylpy-aiheisesta ryhmäaktiviteetista.

Tutkimuksemme perusteella voimme todeta, että luontoon pohjautuville hyvinvointituotteille on kysyntää japanilaisten hyvinvointimatkailijoiden keskuudessa. Luomamme aihion tuotetestaaminen sekä mahdollinen lanseeraaminen jäävät LUOTUO-hankkeen päätettäväksi ja toteutettavaksi.

The purpose of the study was to examine if a Japanese tour operator functioning in the area of southern Savonia would be interested in wellness-based products. The thesis was assigned to us by LUOTUO, a project of Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences. The aim, based on the answers received from the Japanese tour operator, was to create a product prototype for a company involved in this project. The theoretical framework of the thesis is composed of wellness tourism and new product development as well as experiences in creating the product prototype.

We used methods of qualitative research in the thesis. The focused interview was conducted by email exchange in three parts between July and September 2015. In order to create the product prototype we used the Stage-Gate model by Robert G. Cooper.

The results of the study indicate that the tour operator and their customers expect relaxation and nature activities from wellness. With the help of the results we created a product prototype of forest bathing for the project LUOTUO and for Anttolanhovi, an international tourism enterprise involved in the project. The product prototype consists of accommodation and restaurant services, and an organized group activity.

Finally, it can be concluded from our research that wellness products based on nature experiences are in demand among Japanese wellness tourists. The testing and possible launch of the product prototype are left in the hands of LUOTUO and Anttolanhovi.
