It's a (wo)man's world : Raportti taiteellisesta opinnäytetyöstä

Abstract

It's a (wo)man's word on taiteellinen opinnäytetyö, joka tarkastelee naisten aseman eroja tanssitaiteen kautta suomalaisen ja brasilialaisen yhteiskunnan välillä. Taiteelliseen opinnäytetyöhön kuului myös esitysten tuottaminen. Koreografian rakensivat ja esittivät yhdessä opiskelija Hanna Vilander ja brasilialainen tanssitaiteilija Otávio Bastos. Ensi-ilta oli Kuopiossa Sotkulla 4.10.2014. Tämä taiteellisen projektin raportti avaa työskentelyn vaiheita ja kuvaa koreografiasen toiminnan taustoja.

Raportissa kuvataan teoksen tuotannollinen työ, koreografian työstöä sekä esitysten tunnelmat Vilanderin näkökulmasta. Lähtökohtina koreografialle toimivat muun muassa Vilanderin Brasilian matkojen aikana tehdyt huomiot kulttuurieroista sekä yhteistyö eri kulttuureista tulevien, erilaisilla kokemushistorioilla ja toimintatavoilla varustettujen taiteilijoiden välillä.

It's a (wo)man's world is an artistic thesis that, through dance, takes a look at the differences in society status between Finnish and Brazilian women. This artistic thesis also includes production of the performance. The choreography was made and performed by student Hanna Vilander and Brazilian dance artist Otávio Bastos. The premiere was in Kuopio at Sotku 4.10.2014. This report shows the different steps behind the choreographic actions.

The report describes production of the piece, choreographic process and feelings after the performances by Vilander. Some starting points for the choreography were Vilander's observations about the cultural differences noticed when traveling in Brazil and collaboration between two different artists from different cultures with different background, experience and practices.
