Viidesluokkalaisten tyttöjen seksuaalikasvatustunnin toteuttaminen

Abstract

Seksuaalikasvatuksen tarkoituksena on luoda hyvä pohja tuleville ihmissuhteille, kehittää ymmärrystä lapsen ja nuoren omasta kehosta ja itsemääräämisoikeudesta. Työssä käsitellään viidennen luokan seksuaalikasvatustuntia, sen sisältöä ja toteutusta. Toimeksiantajana on Siikajoen kunnan kouluterveydenhoitaja.

Seksuaalikasvatustunti pidetään vuosittain kaikille Suomen viidennen luokan tytöille. Tunnin tarkoitus on antaa tytöille terveellinen ja oikea käsitys murrosiästä ja tulevasta aikuisuudesta, ennen kuin he lukevat ja kuulevat tietoa muualta mediasta. Kouluterveydenhoitaja antaa seksuaalikas-vatusta ryhmämuotoisesti eri luokille ja yksilöllisesti terveystarkastusten yhteydessä.

Tietoa aiheesta on etsitty kirjallisuudesta ja alan nettisivuilta. Tunnin materiaali on rakennettu kirjoitetun tietoperustan pohjalta. Aiheeseen on lisätty myös HPV-rokotus, joka on tullut yleiseen rokotusohjelmaan kaikille kuudennen luokan tytöille. Aiheen lisääminen sisältöön varmisti, että tytöt tulevat tietoiseksi siitä, mikä rokotus heille seuraavana vuonna annetaan ja miksi. Rokotus on vapaaehtoinen. Tytöt saivat materiaalin tulostettuina paperiversioina ja Libressen lahjoittamia terveyssidenäytteitä. Suunnittelun pohjalla on käytetty omaa kokemusta kyseisestä tunnista alakouluikäisenä ja ulkopuolisten ihmisten kokemuksia kyseisistä tunneista.

Tavoitteena oli, että tunti toteutuisi rennossa ilmapiirissä, ilman suurempia jännityksiä. Toivottiin vapaata ja luontevaa keskustelua, ja kysymyksiä tytöiltä. Tämä ei kuitenkaan toteutunut, vaan tytöt istuivat hiljaa koko tunnin ajan. Myöhemmin kouluterveydenhuollon harjoittelussa on pystytty toteuttamaan tunti uudelleen ja tekemään tarvittavat muutokset kehittämisideoiden pohjalta.

Projektin ansiosta oma kokemus terveydenhoitajan työstä ja ryhmäohjauksesta lisääntyi. Tytöt saivat oikeanlaista tietoa tulevasta murrosiästä ja materiaalia aiheesta. Yhteistyötaho sai käyttöönsä projektissa tehdyn materiaalin.

Työstäni hyötyvät terveydenhoitajaopiskelijat ja kentällä työskentelevät kouluterveydenhoitajat. Kehitysehdotuksena ja jatkotoimenpiteenä aiheesta tehdään vielä kehittämistehtävä, jossa käsitellään syvemmin tunnin toteutustyyliä.

The aim of sex education in the school is to give children good background knowledge for future relationships. It also helps them to understand their own body and their right for selfdetermination. I organized a sex education class for fifth grader girls, which was focused On teenager issues. The objective was to provide the girls with a lot of good and necessary information for future use. This project was performed for the school nurse in Siikajoki.

In Finland, every fifth grader girl participates in the sex education class in the school. The aim of this education is to provide the girls with a healthy and normal thinking about teenage years and future adulthood, before they read and hear misleading information from other media. The school nurse gives the lectures in groups and also individually during routine checkups.

I searched the information for the class from literature and also from the internet. I collected all the necessary information together and printed it for the girls to give in the class. I also collected information about HPV vaccination which is a voluntary vaccination for girls and will be given in sixth grade. This ensures that the girls will have enough information about the vaccine. The girls also received a sample of sanitary napkins kindly provided by Libresse. For the reference of the class I used my own experiences and also other people’s experiences of similar classes in elementary school.

My aim was to have a relaxed atmosphere without too much excitement in the class. I was wait-ing for free and natural discussion and a lot of questions from the girls. This didn’t happen, instead all the girls were sitting quietly during the class. No one spoke anything.

This project gave me a lot of experience about the work of public health nurse and group teaching. I can later use this material in school nursing practice and make some improvements in the future development project. The girls received necessary information about teenage years and a lot of material to read on. The material was stored in Siikajoki to be used in the future. I hope that this material is useful for other students and school nurses.
