In the fall of 2015 the world met the greatest refugee crisis since the Second World War. Finland received a record amount of asylum applications year 2015 and approximately 3 300 refugees came to Helsinki. The subject for this thesis was chosen with an aim to re-search how the enormous amount of refugees impacted the labor market in Helsinki. The issue was to investigate advantages and disadvantages with a large admission of refugees. The aim of the study was to find correlations between refugees and the labor market. The methods used in this research were mixed methods meaning that both qualitative and quantitative methods were utilized. The quantitative part of the study focused on statis-tics and numbers published by authorities while the qualitative part was based on two ex-pert interviews. Results from the qualitative part were used to support the theoretical framework. It was also reflected to with the results from the quantitative part. The quanti-tative part was completed with SPSS correlation analysis and scatterplot and the hypothe-sis were tested with Grangers Causal Test. Results from the correlation analysis or the hy-pothesis could not be confirmed. The statistics that were used in this research were too fresh and the subject is still accurate to research and SPSS reliability test did not approve the data. The research did not generate reliable results and the hypothesis could not be based on statistics that did not meet requirements in academic research. The research has a good base and could be continued in the future. In further research it would be important to have a wider time perspective which gives a larger amount of data. The refugees from the fall of 2015 are not included in either the labor market or the unemployment statistics which had an enormous impact on the results of this study.
