Lietelingon ajon optimointi

Abstract

Insinöörityön tavoitteena oli selvittää dekantterilingon ajon optimointimahdollisuuksia. Työ tehtiin Nesteen Porvoon jalostamon jätevesilaitokselle, missä käsitellään kaikki öljynjalostamon alueen vedet. Koska jätevesilaitoksella syntyvät lietteet sisältävät hiilivety-yhdisteitä, ne täytyy kuljettaa poltettavaksi Ekokemin tuotantolaitokselle Riihimäelle. Opinnäytetyössä haluttiin tutkia koeajojen avulla, voisiko optimaalisilla ajoarvoilla pienentää linkouksessa syntyvän lietekakun vesipitoisuutta ja kuljetuksesta syntyviä kustannuksia.

Työn kokeellinen osuus haluttiin suorittaa mahdollisimman yksinkertaisena normaaleissa prosessiolosuhteissa, koska lingottavan lietteen laatu ja koostumus voi olla hyvin vaihtelevaa. Koeajot suoritettiin kahdessa kolmen päivän jaksossa, joista ensimmäisessä oli mukana kaikki jätevesilaitoksella syntyvät lietteet, mutta toista jaksoa varten altaiden pohjalietteet eli ”hiekat” erotettiin pois syöttövirrasta. Molemmissa jaksoissa koeajopäiville valittiin lietteelle eri syöttömäärät ja jokaisena päivänä suoritettiin samanlaiset polymeeriannostelun muutokset. Muutoksien jälkeen vietiin laboratorioon analysoitavaksi näytteet lingon kakusta ja rejektistä kiintoaine-, kuivajäännös- sekä vesipitoisuuksien määritystä varten. Jokaisen testipäivän aluksi otettiin vertailunäyte lingon lietesyötöstä.

Koetuloksista ilmeni, että valmistajan lupaama kuiva-ainepitoisuus saavutettiin lingolla koejaksojen aikana lähes kaikilla ajoarvoilla. Kokeiden perusteella ei löytynyt ideaalista suoraviivaista ajomallia, koska mitattavien parametrien vähäisyyden ja syöttöaineksen laatumuutosten takia prosessia on operoitava tilannekohtaisesti.

The aim of this Bachelor’s thesis was to survey a possibility to optimize the operation of the decanter centrifuge. The project was implemented at the sewage treatment plant of Neste Porvoo refinery where all waters in the area of the oil refinery are processed. As the sludges generated in the sewage treatment plant contain hydrocarbon compounds, they must be transported to Ekokem Corporation Riihimäki to be burned. In this research, it was investigated with test runs if the water content of the sludge cake originated in decantation could be reduced and furthermore, if the transport costs could be cut as well with the optimal control parameters.

The experimental part of the thesis was wished to be executed as simple as possible in normal process conditions because the quality and the composition of the centrifugalized sludge could be very diverse. The test runs were performed in two periods of three days in which the first period accompanied all the sludges generated in the sewage treatment plant, but for the second period the bottom sludges or sands of the basins were separated from the feed flow. For the test run days, different feed rates were selected in both periods and in each day, the modification of the batching polymer was similar. After the changes, the samples of the sludge cake and the reject of the decanter were taken to the laboratory for the determination of the solid matter, dry residue and water content. The comparison sample of the sludge feed of the decanter centrifuge was taken in the beginning of each test run day.

As the experimental data shows, the dry matter content promised by the manufacturer was achieved during the test periods in almost all control parameters. Based on these experiments, the ideal straightforward running pattern was not discovered because due to the minor quantity of the measured parameters and the quality variations of the feed material, the process must be operated as the situation requires.
