Metsäopetuspolku Vilppulan puulajipuistossa

Abstract

Tämän työn tarkoituksena oli suunnitella metsäopetuspolku virkistys- ja oppimis-käyttöön Vilppulan puulajipuistoon. Metsäopetuspolun ideana on etsiä maastoon numeroituja rasteja, jotka sisältävät aina metsäaiheisen kohteenkuvauksen ja siihen liittyviä tehtäviä. Metsäopetuspolku on suhteellisen uusi tapa tuoda suomalaista luontoa ja metsää ihmisten tietoisuuteen. Se ei eroa paljoa tavallisesta luontopo-lusta mutta kuitenkin ratkaisevasti. Tämän mahdollistaa kehittynyt teknologia älypu-helimille ja internet, joita tämäkin työ käyttää tehokkaasti hyväkseen. Tausta-aineistona työssä pohditaan kunnollista oppimisympäristöä, metsien virkis-tyskäytön vaikutusta ihmisiin sekä yleisesti luontopolkujen luokittelua ja saavutetta-vuutta. Myös metsäopetuspolun ympäristön eli puulajipuiston historiaa pyritään va-lottamaan sekä esittelemään sen alueelle perustetun yrityksen, Lumometsän Tuvan, toimintaa. Työn toteuttamiseen ja reitin suunnitteluun osallistui Lumometsän Tupa, joka vastaa myös alueen puulajipuiston hoidosta. Mäntän Seudun Eräpirkat r.y laati polusta ja sen rastipaikoista asianmukaisen kartan. Työn rajauksessa oli otettava huomioon puulaji-puiston ympäristön mahdollisuudet polun perustamiseen, paikallisen yrittäjän toi-veet sekä opetustarkoitukseen sopivat teemat. Kohteiden aiheet ja tehtävät on suunniteltu niin lapsia, nuoria kuin aikuisia ajatellen. Polun valmistuttua toukokuussa 2016 sitä testaamaan saatiin ryhmä oppilaita Vilp-pulan yhteiskoulusta. Oppilaat antoivat kohteista ja reitin kokonaiselämyksestä omat arvionsa palautekyselyyn opettajan antaessa suullisen palautteen.

The purpose of this work was to design a forest teaching path for recreation and learning purposes in Vilppula arboretum. The idea is to look for the numbered control points in the terrain which contain forest themed descriptions of a subject and related tasks. A forest teaching path is a relatively new way to bring Finnish nature and the forest to peoples’ awareness. It does not differ much from the usual nature trail. Advanced technology, like smartphones and the internet, are used effectively on the track. As background material a proper learning environment, recreational use of forests and the classification and accessibility of nature trails were researched. This work also describes the history of the arboretum and the activities of Lumometsän Tupa. Lumometsän Tupa was also involved in this work and the planning of the route in the forest. The company is also responsible for the care of the arboretum. Mäntän Seudun Eräpirkat r.y marked the path and the places on the map. The scope of the work had to take into account the species in the park environment, the opportunities for the creation of a path, a local entrepreneur’s desires, as well as suitable themes for educational purposes. Subjects and tasks had in mind children, teenagers and adults when they were designed. The trail was completed in May 2016 and has been tested by a group of students from Vilppula secondary school. The students tested the control points and total experience giving the trail points individually. Their teacher gave a verbal feedback.
