Seniorien turvallisen kotona asumisen palvelujen pilotointi, valinta ja palvelulupauksen määrittely

Abstract

Insinöörityönä oli etsiä sopiva palvelu ja tuotteistaa se palvelumuotoilun ja tutkimuksellisen kehittämisen menetelmiä hyödyntäen startup-yrityksen ensimmäiseksi kaupalliseksi palveluksi. Samalla kehitettiin palvelun tuottamisen prosessit, yrityksen verkkosivut ja verkkokauppa.

Tässä raportissa kuvataan tehtäviin liittyvä teoreettinen tausta palvelumuotoilun, tutkimuksellisen kehittämisen ja tuotteistamisen osalta sekä itse projektin eteneminen.

Tutkimus- ja kehitysprojekti eteni kaksivaiheisena pilottina eli palvelujen koekäyttönä asiakkaiden kanssa. Pilottien tarkoitus oli tuottaa yritykselle operatiivisten päätösten tueksi tietoa, jonka avulla muodostui lopullinen käsitys siitä, millainen palvelu haluttiin tuottaa. Tieto realisoitui tarjouspyynnössä käytetyiksi vaatimuksiksi. Sopimuskumppanin valinnan jälkeen palvelu lokalisoitiin ja tuotteistettiin toisen pilotin aikana. Samalla suunniteltiin ja toteutettiin yrityksen verkkokauppa ja hiottiin tilaus-toimitusprosessi sujuvaksi. Myös palvelun tekninen toimintaympäristö kilpailutettiin ja konfiguroitiin ennen palvelun kaupallista julkistusta.

Projektin aikana testattiin palveluja laitteineen, tehtiin markkinatutkimuksia ja hankittiin käyttäjätietoa kyselyin ja haastattelemalla. Prosessien toimivuus testattiin niiden käyttäjien kanssa. Palvelun vaatima tekninen ympäristö kilpailutettiin ja konfiguroitiin.

Työn tuloksena syntyi kaupallinen palvelu, toimiva tilaus-toimitusprosessi ohjeineen ja toiminnanohjausjärjestelmään liitetty verkkokauppa - nekin tarvittavine dokumentteineen. Kaupallisen toiminnan käynnistymisen jälkeen yritys on valmis laajentamaan toimintaa uuteen asiakassegmenttiin ja uusiin palveluihin.

This thesis is a report on the work carried out for a startup company willing to launch a security service for the elderly living at home. The report is two-fold. The theoretical part of the report introduces concepts and methods related to service design, research and development and productizing. The second part describes the work done in two successive pilots (tests) that were run with the users of the services being tested and developed.

The purpose of the first pilot was to test and verify selected services and to provide the necessary information to support decision-making in the company. The goal of the company was to finalize its opinion on the desired service. This opinion was represented in the requirements that were formulated during the course of the pilot and used in the tendering process for the commercial service.

The second pilot was run with a larger group of users. During this pilot the service was localized and productized. The company web pages, web shop and enterprise resource planning system (ERP) were implemented. The ordering and delivery processes were also designed, implemented and fine-tuned during this pilot. The technical environment of the service including IT servers, communication protocols and interfaces and such were purchased and configured after a tendering process.

The tasks performed for the research and development project included testing the services and related equipment, conducting market studies and user inquiries and surveys and testing the processes with users as well as requesting the necessary quotations.

The project ended in the commercial launch of the service through an interoperable combination of web pages, web shop and ERP system. In addition, the necessary documents and instructions were in place. The company was then ready to start planning to expand into a new market segment and into new services.
