Sosiokulttuurinen innostaminen orientaationa kehitysvammaisten asumisyksikköjen vapaa-ajan toiminnan suunnittelussa

Abstract

Opinnäytetyössämme selvitimme asumispalvelua käyttävien asiakkaiden vapaa-ajan viettoon liittyviä tarpeita ja toiveita. Halusimme myös tietoa yhteisön jäsenten osallisuudesta heidän toiveidensa toteuttamisprosessissa. Lisäksi opinnäytetyön avulla etsittiin uusia malleja tukea asumispalveluasiakkaiden yhteydenpitoa ulkopuoliseen maailmaan siten, että ne parantavat asiakkaiden omaehtoista ja yksilöllistä osallistumista vapaa-ajan toimintoihin ja harrastuksiin.

Opinnäytetyömme teoreettisena viitekehyksenä ovat sosiokulttuurinen innostaminen ja osallisuus. Innostamisessa tavoitteena on ihmisten välinen samanarvoisuus ja sen seurauksena lisääntyvä itsemääräämisoikeus. Innostamisen päämääränä voidaan pitää yksilön vapautta päättää itseään koskevista asioista sekä kykyä rakentaa hyvää arkipäivää. Osallisuudella taas tarkoitetaan mahdollisuuksia kiinnittyä elämänkaaren eri vaiheissa elämänlaadun ja elämänhallinnan kannalta merkityksellisiin yhteiskunnan instituutioihin, toimintajärjestelmiin ja kulttuurimuodosteisiin. Teimme toiminnallisen opinnäytetyön. Perustimme aineiston hankintaympäristöksi asumispalveluyksikköön vapaa-aikatoimikunnan. Opinnäytetyömme aineiston hankimme ohjaamalla ja havainnoimalla vapaaaikatoimikunnan toimintaa.

Vapaa-aikatoimikunnan perustaminen ja ohjaaminen osoittivat selvästi, että kyseistä toimintaa tarvittiin. Omaiset toivat esille, että asukkaiden mielipiteiden kysyminen oli uutta. Hyödylliseksi koettiin se, että asukkaille annettiin mahdollisuus ilmaista omat mielipiteensä ja tunteensa vapaa-ajan toimintaan liittyen. Opinnäytetyöprosessi vahvisti käsitystämme siitä, että kehitysvammaiset henkilöt pystyvät ilmaisemaan toiveensa ja tarpeensa. Niiden osoittamiseen tarvittiin kuitenkin uusia keinoja. Itsenäisyyden kokemukset mahdollistettiin valinnanmahdollisuuksien lisäämisen ja päätöksenteon harjoittelun kautta.

Kehitysvammaiset henkilöt tarvitsevat paljon tukea pystyäkseen ilmaisemaan yksilölliset tarpeensa. Tähän heille on tarjottava mahdollisuuksia ja sopivia tilanteita. Asiakaslähtöinen tieto auttaa palvelusta vastaavia työntekijöitä toiminnan suunnittelussa. Se auttaa myös asukkaita muistamaan ja ilmaisemaan omia tarpeitaan. Lisäksi se luo pohjan sellaiselle yhteisön kehittämiselle, jossa pystytään huomioimaan asukkaat yksilöinä. Myös yhteistyö omaisten kanssa on keskeistä vapaa-ajan toimintaa kehitettäessä.

In our final project we studied needs and wishes related to the leisure of the customers who use housing services. We also wanted to have information about the community members` participation in the process of carrying out their wishes. Furthermore, with the help of the final project the new models to support external communication of the customers using housing services were looked for, so that they would improve the customers` spontaneous and individual participation in the functions and hobbies of the leisure.

As a theoretical frame of reference in our final project we used sociocultural animation and participation. The objective of animation is equality among people and as its consequence increasing autonomy. A freedom to make decisions on the matters concerning oneself and an ability to make a good day are considered goals of animation. Participation refers to the possibilities to connect the significant institutions, operational systems and cultural activities of society at different stages of life from the viewpoint of the quality of life and life management. The research method of our final project was qualitative. We established a leisure commission in the housing services unit as the environment to collect the material. We got the material for our final project by supervising and observing the operation of the commission.

The establisment and supervision of the commission distinctly showed that the operation in question was needed. The close relatives brought out that it was something new to ask the inhabitants` opinions. The fact that the inhabitants were given the opportunity to express their own opinions and their feelings in connection with leisure activities was regarded as useful. The process of the final project strengthened our belief that people with disabilities are able to express their wishes and their needs. However, different methods were needed to show them. The experiences of independence were made possible by adding choice options and through the practice of decision-making.

People with disabilities need a lot of support to be able to express their individual needs. Opportunities and suitable situations must be provided for them. Customer-oriented information helps the employees responsible for the service in the planning of the activity. It also helps the inhabitants to remember and to express their own needs. Furthermore, it provides the basis for such developing of the community in which it is possible to pay attention to the inhabitants as individuals. Also co-operation with close relatives is important when leisure activities are developed.
