Postin sähköinen joulukortti : Isometrisen vektorigrafiikan piirtäminen ja animointi

Abstract

Tämän produktiivisen opinnäytetyön konkreettinen tavoite oli suunnitella Postin interaktiiviselle, sähköiselle joulukortille paras mahdollinen toteutustapa ja tuottaa sisältö valituilla menetelmillä. Toteutuksen tuli olla viihdyttävä, toimiva ja siinä tuli ottaa huomioon alustava idea, Postin visuaalisuus, resurssit ja asiakkaan toiveet. Koska joulukorttiin haluttiin tuoda interaktiivisia elementtejä, varteenotettavin tapa sen toteutukselle oli HTML5-merkintäkielen mahdollistamat tekniikat. Grafiikoiden toteutustavaksi valikoitui isometrinen vektorigrafiikka sen joustavuuden takia.

Tutkimusmenetelminä opinnäytetyössä käytettiin portfoliota ja käsitekarttaa. Portfolio toimi työskentelyn tukena ja siihen oli hyvä tallentaa aineistoa projektin eri vaiheista. Kerätty materiaali on dokumentoitu vaiheittain kirjalliseen osioon. Käsitekartassa avataan isometrisyyden määritelmää ja sijoittumista suhteessa muihin projektiolajeihin. Työssä tuodaan esille myös vektorigrafiikan ominaisuuksia ja hyötyjä, sekä tekniikoita grafiikoiden piirtämiseen Adobe Illustratorissa ja animointiin Adobe Animatessa.

Isometrinen vektorigrafiikka mahdollisti grafiikoiden sujuvan käsittelyn ja animoinnin. Myös Postin brändi ja visuaalisuus tulivat onnistuneesti esille kaksiulotteisten grafiikoiden selkeissä muodoissa ja brändivärien käytössä. Resurssit oli huomioitu hyvin toteutuksen laajuuteen nähden. Valmis työ, joka löytyy osoitteesta https://n2campaigns.fi/hosted/posti/2016/joulutervehdys/, luovutettiin Postille joulukuussa 2016. Projektin alussa asetetut tavoitteet saavutettiin ja työstä saatiin hyvää palautetta.

The objective of this productive thesis was to plan the best possible way to execute an interactive, electronic Christmas card for Posti and produce the content with chosen methods. The execution had to be entertaining, functional and it had to take the preliminary idea, the visual style of Posti, resources and client’s wishes into account. The most worthy execution methods for the Christmas card were techniques enabled by HTML5 markup language because of desired interactive elements. Isometric vector graphics were chosen as execution method for graphics because of its flexibility.

Research methods of thesis were portfolio and concept map. Portfolio supported working and it was good place to save material at different stages of project. The collected material has been documented in written part in stages. The concept of isometric projection and its positioning in relation to other projection methods is established in the concept map. The thesis also brings out properties and advances of vector graphics and techniques for drawing graphics in Adobe Illustrator and animating them in Adobe Animate.

Isometric vector graphics made it possible to manipulate and animate the graphics smoothly. Also the Posti brand and visual style emerged successfully from the clear shapes of two-dimensional graphics and usage of brand colours. The resources had been taken into account well concerning the size of execution. The finished work was given to Posti in December 2016 and now it can be found from web address https://n2campaigns.fi/hosted/posti/2016/joulutervehdys/. The objectives set at the beginning of the project were achieved and the Christmas card received good feedback.
