SEKSUAALISUUDEN MONINAISUUS - Opas yläkouluikäisille nuorille

Abstract

Opinnäytetyömme tarkoituksena oli tuottaa opas seksuaalisuuden moninaisuudesta yläkouluikäisille nuorille. Tavoitteenamme oli lisätä nuorten tietämystä seksuaalisuudesta, sen eri muodoista ja seksuaali-oikeuksista sekä saada heidät pohtimaan omaa käyttäytymistään erilaisuutta kohtaan ja synnyttää nuor-ten välistä keskustelua aiheista. Henkilökohtaisina tavoitteinamme oli kasvattaa omaa tietämystämme seksuaalisuudesta ja sen eri muodoista sekä oppia tuottamaan opas valitulle kohderyhmälle.

Toimeksiantaja opinnäytetyöllemme oli Jämsän Terveys Oy ja sieltä tarkemmin Paunun yläkoulu. Näille esittelimme ideamme ja näin syntyi tarve seksuaalisuuden moninaisuudesta ja seksuaalioikeuksista käsit-televästä oppaasta. Opas oli tarkoitettu jaettavaksi kaikilla seksuaaliterveyttä käsittelevillä oppitunneilla mutta myös terveydenhoitajan luona tehtävillä terveystarkastuksilla. Opas on tehty tuotekehitysprosessina, ja se on paperisessa muodossa, mikä mahdollistaa konkreettisesti oppaan antamisen omaksi. Opas on tarkoitus saada myös sähköiseen muotoon, jotta koulun henkilökunta voi sitä tarvittaessa tulostaa. Sähköinen muoto myös mahdollistaa oppaan mahdollisen laajemman levityksen. Oppaan visuaaliseen suunnittelun ja toteutuksen teimme yhdessä graafista suunnittelua opiskelevan opiskelijan kanssa.

Idean ja aiheen työllemme olimme miettineet jo melko pitkälle ennen toimeksiantajan löytymistä. Kun aihe ja toimeksiantaja oli löydetty, aloimme suunnitella ja tehdä opinnäytetyötä ja opasta. Luonnostelu-vaiheessa mietimme yhdessä toimeksiantajan sekä opinnäytetyötä ohjaavan opettajan kanssa oppaan sisältöä ja ulkoasua sekä toteuttamistapaa. Kehittelyvaiheessa sisältö vielä hieman muuttui, kun päätimme lisätä sinne tosielämän tarinan ja muokata opasta muutenkin enemmän nuoria houkuttelevammaksi. Viimeistelyssä teimme vielä toimeksiantajan toivomia muutoksia sisällön yksityiskohtiin liittyen. Lähteinä käytimme niin oppaassa kuin itse opinnäytetyössämmekin luotettavia, pääsääntöisesti enintään kymmenen vuotta vanhoja tieteellisiä julkaisuja.

Oppaasta on hyötyä erityisesti yläkouluikäisille nuorille, sillä se lisää nuorten tietämystä seksuaalisuu-desta ja sen eri muodoista, mutta myös seksuaalioikeuksista ja suojaikärajasta. Oppaaseen on koottu luo-tettavia nettiosoitteita, joista nuoret voivat itse hakea lisätietoa. Jos oppaan avulla saamme yhdenkin nuo-ren miettimään omaa seksuaalisuuttaan tai käytöstään seksuaalisesti erilaisia ihmisiä kohtaan, on siitä mielestämme ollut hyötyä. Jatkoa ajatellen toivomme, että opas olisi myös sähköisessä muodossa ja että saisimme sen aiheen tärkeyden vuoksi valtakunnallisesti yläkouluihin käyttöön.

The purpose of our bachelor’s thesis was to create a guide about sexual diversity for adolescents in sec-ondary school. Our aim was to increase the knowledge of the young about sexuality, different forms of sexuality and sexual rights as well as to encourage them to consider their own behaviour towards diver-sity and evoke dialogue about the subjects. Our personal goals were to increase our knowledge of sexuality and its different forms and to learn to create a guide to a selected target group.

The commissioner of our thesis was Jämsän Terveys Oy health services and more precisely Paunu sec-ondary school. We presented our idea to them and the need for a guide concerning sexual diversity and sexual rights emerged. The aim was to hand out the guide in all classes on sexual health, but also in physical examinations by the public health nurse. The guide was created through a product development process and it is in printed form, which allows the concrete guide to be given to keep. Our purpose was also to create the guide in digital format for the school staff to be printed when needed. A digital version would also allow a broader distribution of the guide. The visual design and implementation was carried out in co-operation with a graphic design student.

The idea and subject for our bachelor’s thesis was considered quite far before the commissioner was found. As both the subject and the commissioner had been found, we started to plan and work on the bachelor’s thesis and the guide. In the outlining phase we thought over the contents, the layout and the realization of the guide together with the commissioner and our thesis tutor. In the developing phase the contents still changed a little as we decided to add one real-life story in the guide and edit it also in general more interesting for the young. In the finishing phase we yet made some changes in details of the contents according to the wishes of the commissioner. The sources used both in the guide and in the thesis were reliable and for the most part no more than ten years old scientific publications.

The guide is especially beneficial for adolescents at secondary school age as it increases the knowledge of the young about sexuality and its different forms but also about sexual rights and the age of consent. The guide includes reliable internet addresses where the young can seek for more information. We consider the guide beneficial if it reaches at least one young person to think about his or her own sexuality or behaviour when meeting sexually different people. For the future, we wish to provide the guide also in digital format so that it could be available for secondary schools nationally due to its importance.
