SENIORIPUUTARHA : Luontokokemuksia palvelukeskuksen pihapiirin asukkaille Torniossa.

Abstract

Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli kuvata Suensaaren palvelukeskuksen pihapiirin käyttäjien toiveita pihan muuttamiseksi luontolähtöiseksi Senioripuutarhaksi ja esittää puutarhaehdotelma toiveiden pohjalta. Tavoitteena oli mahdollistaa palvelukeskuksen pihapiirin asukkaille toimintaa ja luontokokemuksia pihapiiriä kehittämällä sekä edistää näin heidän hyvinvointiaan. Luontoa elämään! -hankkeen tavoitteena oli lisätä toimintakykyä ja osallisuutta luontolähtöisillä menetelmillä. Tornion kaupungin vanhus-ja hoivapalvelut toivoivat selvitettävän pihapiirin käyttäjien toiveita pihapiirin kehittämiseksi luontolähtöiseksi ja toiminta-kykyä tukevaksi. Kehittämistehtävän aineisto saatiin kahdessa kehittämisiltapäivässä, joissa kysyttiin pihapiirin käyttäjien toiveita pihapiiriin muuttamiseksi hyvinvointia edistäväksi luontolähtöiseksi Senioripuutarhaksi. Tutkimusmenetelmänä käytettiin kehittävää työntutkimusta ja palvelumuotoilua. Aineisto käsiteltiin induktiivisen sisällönanalyysin keinoin. Opinnäytetyön teoria osuudessa käsitellään ikäihmisten hyvinvoinnin perusteita sekä asuin- ja luontoympäristön merkitystä ikäihmisen hyvinvointiin palveluasumisessa. Toimeksiantajina opinnäytetyössä ovat Tornion kaupungin vanhus- ja hoivapalvelut sekä Toimintakykyä ja osallisuutta luontolähtöisillä menetelmillä ja palveluilla -hanke (ESR), jonka epävirallinen nimi on Luontoa elämään! -hanke. Tuloksien perusteella pihapiirin käyttäjät toivoivat palvelukeskuksen pihapiirin muuttamista ikäihmisille sopivaksi turvalliseksi ja toiminnalliseksi, elämään sisäl-töä tuovaksi ja kokemuksia antavaksi Senioripuutarhaksi. Aineiston perusteella pihapiirin muuttamista luontolähtöiseksi, eri aistein koettavaksi puutarhaksi pidettiin tärkeänä, pihapiirin muutos tukee myös palvelukeskuksen asukkaiden hyvinvointia. Pihapiirin käyttäjien toiveiden perusteella luotiin käyttäjälähtöinen Seniori-puutarhaehdotelma, jonka Tornion kaupunki voi niin halutessaan toteuttaa vähitellen osissa.

The purpose of this thesis was to describe the wishes of the Suensaaren service housing centre users to transform their yard into to a nature-oriented Senior Garden and to present a garden proposal on the bases of their wishes. The aim of this thesis was to facilitate the residents of the service housing center yard area activities and nature experiences by developing the yard and thus promoting their wellbeing. The aim of the Nature to Live! project is to increase functional capacity and inclusion through nature oriented methods. The city of Tornio elderly and nursing services hoped to hear the wishes of the yard users to develop a nature-oriented yard which promotes functional capacity. The research data was gathered by implementing two development days and by asking questions about the wishes of the yard users to transform the yard into a wellbeing increasing and nature oriented Senior Garden. Developmental work research and service design were used as the research methods. Inductive content analysis was used in analysing the answers. The theoretical framework of the thesis deals with the well-being of the elderly and the importance of living and nature environment for the wellbeing of the elderly in living in a service housing. The commissioners of the thesis include the elderly and care services of the City of Tornio and the Action and Involvement with Nature-Out Methods and Services (ESR) project, unofficially called the Nature for Life! -project. Based on the results, the users of the yard would like to transform the service housing center yard into a fit, safe and functional, meaningful and experience-oriented Senior Garden for elderly people. On the basic of the material, the conversion of the yard to a nature-oriented garden was considered important. The transformation of the yard into a garden would also support the welfare of the residents of the service housing centre. Based on the wishes of the informants, a user-oriented Senior Garden proposal was created. The City of Tornio can gradually implement this plan in part.
