"Ai tuleeks tästä joku parempi luokkahenki, vai?" : elämyspedagoginen ryhmäytysprojekti lähihoitajaopiskelijoille

Abstract

Tämän opinnäytetyön aiheena on elämyspedagoginen ryhmäytysprojekti lähihoitajaopiskelijoille. Tutkimuksen tarkoituksena kehittää elämyspedagogiikan menetelmää ammattioppilaitoksen käyttöön soveltuvaksi ja tutkia elämyspedagogiikan käyttöä toisen asteen nivelvaiheessa olevien nuorten tukemisessa ja ryhmään sitouttamisessa.

Tämä työ on osa projektia, jonka Helsingin sosiaali- ja terveysalan oppilaitos HESOTE on käynnistänyt yhdessä Suomen Outward Bound ry:n kanssa. Projekti koostuu HESOTE: n opettajille suunnatusta koulutuspäivästä ja elämyspedagogiikan keinoin toteutetuista toimintapäivistä, jotka on suunnattu lähihoitajakoulutuksen syksyllä 2008 aloittaneille nuorille.

Tutkimusmenetelmä opinnäytetyössä oli toimintatutkimus. Aineistonkeruussa käytettiin sekä määrällisiä että laadullisia menetelmiä. Tutkimuksessa havainnoitiin toimintapäivien kulkua, dokumentoitiin projektia ja tutkittiin projektin onnistumista haastattelemalla ja laatimalla sähköpostikysely projektissa mukana olleille opettajille.

Tutkimuksen mukaan peruskoulun ja ammatillisen asteen nivelvaiheen tukeminen on tärkeää. Nuoren sitouttaminen opiskeluryhmään, ryhmän tutustuttaminen ja ryhmätyötaitojen kehittäminen nähtiin tarpeelliseksi, oli menetelmänä mikä tahansa. Tässä projektissa käytetty elämyspedagogiikka oli toimiva menetelmä kohderyhmille. Menetelmän parhaita puolia olivat harjoitusten jälkeiset purkukeskustelut. Useamman päivän kestävillä kursseilla olisi kenties päästy käsiksi merkittävämpiin tuloksiin.

Subject of this thesis is a team-building project where I use adventure education method. The students of practical nursing are a target group in this thesis. In the project I am trying to create an adventure education method to the use of vocational school. I am researching students who are in the phase between comprehensive school and vocational school. I am also researching the group’s team spirit and how to improve their team building skills.

My diploma work is a part of the project between Helsinki City College of Social and Health Care and Outward Bound Finland. There were two parts in this project: tutorial for the teachers of Helsinki City College of Social and Health Care and a course for the students studying practical nursing. I used adventure education as a method in those courses.

Research method of the diploma work was activity analysis. There were both qualitative and quantitative parts in the survey. I observed courses and documented the project. I also interviewed and conducted a questionnaire for teachers who were working in the project. Finally I estimated the success of the project.

My findings show that it is important to support adolescent who are in the phase between comprehensive school and vocational school. It is important to do practises, which improve team building skills and team spirit with in the class. Adventure education was a suitable method for the target group. Reflection was the best part of the method. If the courses would have been longer results might have been more remarkable.
