BIOAIKA - MATKALLA YHTEISEEN TULEVAISUUTEEN : Tulevaisuudenkuvia Suomesta

Abstract

Opinnäytetyössä selvitetään viiden eri yleisötapahtuman kävijöiden visioita siitä, minkälainen Suomi on sadan vuoden päästä. Opinnäytetyön tavoitteena on tuottaa tietoa bioaikarekan asiakkaiden arvoista ja tulevaisuuden odotuksista Metsähallituksen tiedekeskus Pilkkeelle.

Toimeksiantaja työssä on Metsähallituksen tiedekeskus Pilke. Työ liittyy Suomen metsäsektorin satavuotiaalle Suomelle lahjoittamaan bioaika-kiertueeseen, joka kiertää Suomea Kesästä 2017 aina joulukuulle saakka. Bioaikakiertueen rekassa yhtenä kohteena oli kosketusnäytöllinen visiokone, jonka avulla kävijöillä oli mahdollisuus valita ennalta määrätyistä käsitteistä ne, jotka he kokivat merkityksellisinä sadan vuoden päästä.

Työn teoriaosuudessa käsitellään biotaloutta sekä paikallisesti Suomessa, että maailmalla. Tavoitteena oli luoda katsaus biotalouden uhkiin ja mahdollisuuksiin. Toisena osana tietoperustaa käytettiin tulevaisuudentutkimuksen käsitteistöä tukemaan tapahtumakävijöiden tulevaisuudenodotusten käsittelyä. Työn lopussa arvioidaan työn onnistumista. Jokaisesta tapahtumasta käytiin läpi noin kymmenen suosituinta käsitettä sekä pyrittiin peilaamaan niitä kunkin tapahtuman kohderyhmään ja sisältöön. Lopuksi koottiin jokaisesta viidestä tapahtumasta useimmin kymmenen joukkoon päätyneet käsitteet yhteenvetona.

Aineistona työssä käytettiin visiokoneen tuottamaa aineistoa numeraalisessa muodossa. Aineisto saatiin suoraan visiokoneen kehittäjältä Excel-muodossa. Työn keskeinen anti oli, että vastauksissa keskityttiin enemmän siihen, mitä tuleville sukupolville halutaan säilyttää sen sijaan että lähdettäisiin luomaan kuvaa uudenlaisesta tulevaisuudesta.

This thesis examines how the visitors of five different public events see Finland shaping up to be in the next one hundred years. The aim of this thesis is to produce information about the values and future expectations of the clients of the Metsähallitus bioaika-truck.

The commissioner of this project is Metsähallitus Science Scentre Pilke. The operational environment is part of a "bioaika-tour" gifted by the Finnish forest cluster for a hundred-year-old Finland. The tour is taking place between June and December of 2017. One of the attractions in the Bioaika truck was a touch screened vision machine which enabled the visitors to pick predetermined concepts of how they would see Finland in a hundred year's time.

The theoretical part of this thesis deals with bio economy both locally in Finland and on a global scale. The aim was to overview the threats and possibilities of bio economy. As a second part of the theoretical part concepts of futurology was used to back up dealing with event visitors future expectations. At the end of the thesis the successfulness of this thesis will be evaluated. On every event approximately 10 most popular concepts were processed and mirrored towards the target audience and content of every event. Lastly, words that most frequently landed in the top ten were aggregated.

The material produced by the vision machine was used as a source in this thesis. The material was acquired directly from the developer of the vision machine in a excel format. The main takeaway from the thesis was the fact that the answers were more focused on what to preserve from the future generations rather than producing a picture of a new kind of future.
