Opas muistisairaan omaiselle

Abstract

Projektin tarkoituksena on laatia opas muistisairaan omaisille Kallinrantaan. Toimeksiantajana on Keminmaan Palvelukoti Kallinranta. Oppaan tavoitteena on tukea omaisia muistisairaan kohtaamisessa ja heidän roolissaan muistisairaan eläessä palvelukodissa. Opas tarjoaa tietoa, ohjausta ja tukea omaiselle hänen eläessään muistisairaan läheisen kanssa. Oppaan aiheita käsitellään muistisairaan kautta sekä omaisen roolia hänen elämässään. Oppaaseen tarvittavan sisällön saimme järjestämällä teemahaastattelun ryhmähaastatteluna kolmelle omaiselle sekä keskustelemalla aiheesta Kallinrannan tiimivastaavien, hoiva- ja hoitotyönjohtajan sekä perusturvanjohtajan kanssa. Haastattelun ja keskustelujen avulla kokosimme teoreettisen viitekehyksen ja saimme selville mihin omaiset tarvitsevat ohjausta ja tukea kohdatessaan muistisairautta sairastava omainen. Keskusteluissa ja haastattelussa ilmenneiden aihepiirien perusteella etsimme teoreettista tietoa hyödyntäen toiminnallisen opinnäytetyön teoriaa. Oppaan sisällöksi muodostui pitkälle edennyt muistisairaus ja käytösoireet, ympäristön muuttumisen vaikutukset sekä luopuminen. Oppaan aihe on tärkeä, koska siitä hyötyvät omaisten kautta muistisairas läheinen sekä alan ammattilaiset voivat hyödyntää sitä omaan osaamiseensa tukiessaan omaisia ja hoitaessaan muistisairaita potilaita/asiakkaita.

The purpose of this thesis was to make a guide to the relatives of the elderly whose loved one suffers from a memory disorder and is living in the nursing home Kallinranta. This thesis is commissioned by the nursing home care unit Kallinranta in Keminmaa . The aim of the thesis was to support the relatives whose loved one was living in the nursing care unit Kallinranta and has a memory disorder such as Alzheimer’s disease. The guide offers useful knowledge, guidance and support to the relatives. The themes are addressed through the eyes of the elderly and the role that their loved one plays in their lives. The research data was collected by interviewing three relatives and had conversations with the nurse managers, the leader of the nursing care and basic social security in Kallinranta. We studied the needs of the relatives and the need for support when meeting their loved one with a memory disorder. Using the interviews and conversations as a foundation, a theoretical frame of reference was compiled. In addition, the topics for which the relatives needed more information and support were studied. The manual for the relatives includes theory about advanced memory disorders and behavioral symptoms as well as the effects of the change of environment. The topic is important for health care professionals who can use the manual as an aid when supporting the relatives and helping those who suffer from a memory disorder.
