AVOIMEN LÄHDEKOODIN KUVANKÄSITTELY- JA TAITTO-OHJELMAT: CASE TEKE OY

Abstract

Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena on tutkia ja kehittää yrityksen julkaisuprosessia ja ottaa käyttöön avoimen lähdekoodin ohjelmia, joita käytetään yrityksen julkaisuprosessin apuna. Työssä tutkitaan yrityksen julkaisuprosessia suunnittelusta aina valmiiseen työhön saakka. Lisäksi käydään läpi painotuotteiden ja verkkografiikan julkaisemiseen liittyvät tarpeet.

Julkaisuprosessin käsittelemisen jälkeen esitellään yrityksessä käyttöön otet-tavat kuvankäsittely- ja taitto-ohjelmat. Nämä ohjelmat käydään läpi ja tutustu-taan niiden tärkeimpiin ominaisuuksiin ja työkaluihin, joita yrityksen julkaisuissa yleisimmin tarvitaan.

Ohjelmien esittelemisen jälkeen tutkitaan julkaisuprosessissa esiintyviä on-gelmia ja yritetään löytää näihin ongelmiin ratkaisu avoimen lähdekoodin oh-jelmista. Lopuksi esitellään uusilla ohjelmilla yritykselle tehtyjä julkaisuja.

Today, there are a lot of open source programs that help companies do a va-riety of publications. Companies are interested in them because they are free. However, companies do not know how these programs will fit in their use or the company does not have personnel available who know how to use these programs. The aim of this thesis was to develop TEKE’s publishing process and to intro-duce open-source image processing and desktop publishing programs. This thesis introduces features and tools of these programs that a company usually needs in the publishing process. In addition to that, the purpose was also to look for a solution to the problems of the publishing process. All the programs were thoroughly acquainted before their introduction. Differ-ent kinds of publications were made during the introduction. Problems in the publication process were dealt with by open source programs. The thesis has given concrete value to the publishing process of TEKE and the introduced programs are in use at this moment. Companies have a great opportunity to replace chargeable image processing and desktop publishing programs to free open source programs.
