Huoltajat Lappeenrannan kaupungin avoimien varhaiskasvatuspalveluiden kehittäjinä

Abstract

Tämän opinnäytetyön tarkoituksena oli selvittää Lappeenrannan avoimien varhaiskasvatuspalveluiden laatua huoltajien näkökulmasta. Opinnäytetyön päätavoitteena on antaa Lappeenrannan kaupungin varhaiskasvatuksen suunnittelijoille tietoa palveluiden laadusta ja tuoda esille mahdollisia kehittämiskohteita. Opinnäytetyö on rajattu koskemaan Lappeenrannan avoimien varhaiskasvatuspalveluiden yksiköitä, joissa tarjotaan avoimen päiväkodin sekä leikkikerhon toimintaa toimintakaudella 2017–2018. Avoimen päiväkodin sekä leikkikerhon kyselylomakkeet toimitettiin Lappeenrannassa kolmeen molempia avoimia varhaiskasvatuspalveluita tarjoavaan yksikköön. Kyselylomakkeeseen vastaaminen oli huoltajille vapaaehtoista ja vastaajat pysyivät anonyymeina. Kyselylomakkeilla selvitettiin huoltajien mielipiteitä Lappeenrannan avoimien varhaiskasvatuspalveluiden laadusta. Miten avoimien päiväkotien palvelut toimivat huoltajien mielestä? Mikä toiminnassa on huoltajien mielestä hyvää? Missä olisi vielä kehitettävää? Kyselylomakkeet analysoitiin hyödyntämällä sekä kvantitatiivista SPSS-järjestelmää ja kvalitatiivista sisällönanalyysia. Aineiston yhtenäistämisessä käytettiin teemoittelua. Tutkimustulosten perusteella voidaan todeta huoltajien olevan yleisesti tyytyväisiä Lappeenrannan kaupungin tarjoamiin avoimiin varhaiskasvatuspalveluihin. Avoin päiväkoti ja leikkikerho tuovat huoltajien ja lasten arkeen lisää sisältöä ja rutiineita. Avoimien varhaiskasvatuspalveluiden hyödyntäminen antaa huoltajille vertaistukea ja lapsille mahdollisuuden saada ikäistään seuraa.

The purpose of this thesis was to determine how the caretakers see the quality of open early childhood education in the city of Lappeenranta. The main purpose of this thesis was to provide information to the early childhood education designers about the quality of the services and propose possible development ideas. This thesis is limited to the units of the open early childhood education services in Lappeenranta, which offer both open kindergarten and playgroup activities in operating period 2017-2018. The questionnaires were divided for both open early childhood education and playgroup activities, and were delivered to three open early childhood education service units that offer both forms of activity. The parents responded to the survey anonymously and they were told about the voluntary participation. The purpose of the questionnaire was to discover parents' opinions on the quality of early childhood education in Lappeenranta. How do the open kindergarten services work in the view of the caretakers? Which services does the caretaker/parents feel good? What should be improved? The material gathered from the questionnaires were analyzed utilizing both quantitative the SPSS-system and qualitative content analysis. Theming was used to unify the material. Based on the results of the research, it can be stated that caretakers are generally satisfied with the open early childhood education services provided by the City of Lappeenranta. Both open kindergarten and playgroup activities add content and routines to the daily lives of both children and caretakers. Utilizing open early childhood education agreement caretakers peer support and for the children to have an opportunity to have playmates of the same age.
