Abstract The aim of the thesis was to describe the priorities of developing the electrotechnical education of Savonia Universi-ty of Applied Sciences (UAS). The purpose was to find out what should be developed in the teaching of electrical engineering and to find new pedagogical methods for electrotechnical education at Savonia UAS. Another aim was to find the aim was to explore possible structural development opportunities and needs of education, which are also essentially related to the development of education. The used working methods included the analysis of past developments and surveys. In addition, representatives of the business community and students and teachers of Savonia UAS were interviewed. There were no written in-quiries to students or businesses, as the queries submitted would not have added value to the work. Savonia UAS’s strategy for 2017-2020 was taken into account in this thesis. Savonia's strategy mentions, among other things, the following”Savonia's activities emphasize vocational higher education, taking into account the key projects of higher education; year-round study, digitalization and flexible study paths ". Therefore the focus was on how to add web-based studies for students in future in order to achieve the above-mentioned aspects of the Savo-nia Strategy. As a result of this thesis it can be concluded that the CDIO model, online teaching and the teaching methods of work-learning in universities of applied sciences, developed in the Verkkovirta project, were in line with the Savo-nia University of Applied Sciences's strategy. Training according to the CDIO model is already in use at Savonia in electrotechnical education, but its share should be developed and combined with e-learning and web-learning. Based on the survey, it would be useful to develop teaching methods in the field of web-learning and the teaching of work, so that students could also be trained more to develop their communication skills....

The development project described in the thesis deals with a mobile application called Is it Gluten Free? And its further development with support of Entrepreneurial coaching. The aim of the application was contribute to the welfare of customers on gluten-free diet by offering them information on product ingredients in different languages. This development process aimed to find out, if the mobile application could become a profitable business venture. It also aimed to promote entrepreneurial abilities and to find out what was the impact of Savonia University of Applied Sciences as well as to gather and produce data on Entrepreneurial coaching from students’ viewpoint to enhance the coaching. The development project was carried out as an action research where planning, implementation and evaluation took turns, and theory and practice were combined. During the process data was collected in various ways, for example by making a quantitative market research, using electrical tools made by Savonia University of Applied Sciences for developing business models and by evaluating ideas, attending and organizing brainstorming sessions and studying other research data. To analyze the development process, a model of an entrepreneurial process was made by combining two different theories together. Savonia University of Applied Sciences played an important role in recognizing the business opportunity, and it offered lots of support for further development, especially in the development of the business model. In developing the technological solution Savonia University of Applied Sciences played a guiding role and networking was successful. As for the internationalization process, networking didn’t succeed and Savonia University of Applied Sciences was not able to offer tools or give guidance to promote the application even if the internationalization and entering foreign markets were regarded as the requirement for profitable business operations. In the end it wasn’t wise to start a business for many reasons. Firstly an open product ingredient data was not found, secondly the technological solution had a x-factor and thirdly the costs was too high. Because international networks were not created it was an impossible idea to achieve as many downloads as the business would require to be profitable. Developing the business idea helped to increase the business abilities of the authors. Based on the case study a few developing suggestions were made to Savonia University of Applied Sciences to develop Entrepreneurial coaching. Entrepreneurial coaching should support the internationalization process, give guidance in evaluating the technical solution and implement and organize coaching conversations more often to improve and support the business idea in the future....

For the past five years, working as a teacher at Savonia University of Applied Sciences, Degree Program in Design, there have often been situations where teaching requires more tools. The problem is common. For example, presenting different work and process techniques, software teaching and enhancing distance learning create challenges for everyday work. In addition, according to feedback from students, the need to develop teaching content, increase its informativeness and make it easier for them to study independently, is very high. In addition, our students' graphic design skills need to be developed to enable them to effectively respond to future challenges. Based on these development challenges within the work community, there is the core issue, the problem; How to improve the work community's functionality, the work of the design teacher, and at the same time develop teaching methods so that they studying easier for students? The problem was approached by means of service design, considering teaching as a service product which content and functionality are built on the needs of users, while creating new opportunities for the service provider Savonia University of Applied Sciences to gain business benefits. The goal was to create an operating model, a concept, that adds elements to teaching and enhances learning. The result of the design process was the Designtube concept, a WordPress-based tutorial bank and a showroom platform that functions like a user interface teaching tool in the Degree Program in Design. Designtube inspires students through social media to explore content and to try different exercises independently. The new weekly published video tutorials and the multiple collections of materials from different courses, creating a continuity of the platform's continual development. Its main longterm mission is to improve students' skills to produce technically impressive visual content and to broaden their vision of the branding of the design product. Designtube is also able to speed up the schedules of independently executed projects by students, because it is easier for them to create impressive presentations on their products and work processes by using the tutorial videos from the site....

Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoituksena oli edistää Savonia ammattikorkeakoulun ja Liverpool John Moores Universityn välistä ensihoitajaopiskelijoiden vaihto-ohjelmaa. Tätä tarkoitusta varten vertailtiin kyseisten koulujen ensihoidon opetussuunnitelmia sekä oleellisen taustatiedon saamiseksi Suomen ja Englanin ensihoitojärjestelmiä. Tutimuksessa vertailtiin ennaltamääriteltyjä aiheita sekä ensihoitojärjestelmien että ensihoidon koulutusohjelmien välillä. Tutkimusmateriaalina käytettiin virallisia kirjallisia dokumentteja, minkä lisäksi joitakin aiheita tarkennettiin haastatteluilla. Tutkimusmetodina käytettiin avointa kuvailevaa metodia, jotta saatiin kattava kuvaus koko aiheesta. Tutkimuksessa löydettiin eroja sekä ensihoitojärjestelmissä että ensihoidon koulutusohjelmissa. Suurimmat erot ensihoitojärjestelmissä liittyivät palveluntarjomismalliin sekä hätäpuhelun käsittelyyn. Ensihoidon koulutusohjelmat olivat kaikkiaan hyvin erilaiset. Englannissa kaksivuotinen koulutus sisälsi vain ensihoidon opintoja ja johti rekisteröintiin ensihoitajana. Suomalainen nelivuotinen koulutusohjelma sisälsi hoitotyön koulutusohjelman ja ensihoitajat rekisteröitiin sairaanhoitajiksi. Tutkimuksen tulokset auttavat Savonia ammattikorkeakoulua sekä Liverpool John Moores Universitya kehittämään ensihoitajaopiskelijoiden vaihto-ohjelmaa. Tuloksia voidaan käyttää benchmarking tyyliseen koulutusohjelmien ja opetussuunnitelmien kehittämiseen. Tutkimus toimii myös Suomen ja Englannin ensihoitojärjestelmien ja ensihoidon koulutusohjelmien esittelynä.
