Asiakkaiden tietämys kivunhoidon vaihtoehdoista

Abstract

Tämän tutkimuksen tarkoitus oli kuvata yhteistyökumppanimme etu- ja yhteistyöjärjestö Suomen Kipu ry:n asiakkaiden kokemuksia kivusta ja heidän tietämystään kipujen hoidossa käytettävistä lääkkeettömistä ja lääkkeellisistä kivunhoitomenetelmistä. Lisäksi selvitettiin, minkälaista kivunhoidon ohjaus oli ollut.

Tutkimus toteutettiin kvantitatiivisella eli määrällisellä tutkimusmenetelmällä. Kyselylomake oli strukturoitu. Tutkimusotanta koottiin yhteistyössä Suomen Kipu ry:n kanssa, jota kautta saimme aineiston. Tutkimusaineisto kerättiin helmikuun 2018 aikana. Opinnäytetyön aineisto kerättiin sähköisellä Webropol -kyselylomakkeella (n=85).

Tutkimustulosten mukaan huomattavan moni vastaajista koki, että kivunhoidon ohjaus ei ollut riittävää. Kun kysyttiin kivunhoidon menetelmien käytöstä vastaajat pääosin tiesivät, mihin mikäkin hoitomenetelmä ja vaihtoehto kuului. Vastaukset jakautuivat lähes kahtia kysyttäessä, kokevatko vastaajat tietävänsä kivunhoidon vaihtoehdoista tarpeeksi. Jatkotutkimukseksi erinomainen vaihtoehto olisi laadullinen menetelmä samasta aiheesta, silloin vastaajat saisivat vastata omin sanoin ja avoimemmin kivunhoidon hoitomenetelmiin liittyvissä kysymyksissä, sekä kertoa tarkemmin kokemuksistaan. Toisena aiheena voisi tutkia, millaisia eroja on julkisen ja yksityisen puolen palveluntarjoajien kivunhoidon menetelmissä tai ohjauksessa.

The purpose of this study and thesis was to describe partner organization, union Suomen Kipu ry customer-based experiences about pain. As well as their knowledge of medical and non-medical treatment alternatives and methods used in pain treatment. In addition it was researched how good patient guidance was for them about pain treatment methods and alternatives.

This study was done by using a quantitative study method. A questionnaire was structured and it included only closed questions. A sampling of the study was received from the Suomen Kipu ry materials. The authors were not directly connected to the materials. Estimated size of the material was 6500 customers of Suomen Kipu ry. In the end there were 85 respondents. The material was collected in February of 2018. Material for the thesis was collected by Webropol online questionnaire (n=85).

In the results of the study, remarkably many respondents felt and thought that patient guidance of the pain treatment was not adequate. In knowledge of the pain treatment alternatives, the respondents knew almost all of the questions correctly. The respondents mostly knew where the correct pain treatment alternative and method were included. The respondents were divided in two when asked about if they feel that they know enough about pain treatment alternatives. For extended or a follow-up study, an excellent choice would be to do a qualitative study of the same subject. Then the respondents could answer more openly and with their own words describing the experiences more closely. Another subject for a follow-up study could be to study what differences there are in pain treatment methods, pain treatment alternatives and in patient guidance between public health care and private health care.
